PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Compared to ordinary sprays that leave a residue, Phantom pressurized insecticide delivers the active ingredient more effectively by drying in crystals without leaving a visible residue. The only liquid non repellent, non-IGR labeled for indoor general pest control including commercial food handling areas.
** THIS IS NOT A QUICK KNOCKDOWN PRODUCT! **
It will take a day for pests to die and they won’t “run away” when sprayed but they will die!! Low to no odor and invisible residue makes it a great product for use in open areas. Pests are exposed to the active ingredient either by ingestion or contact. Effective on pyrethroid-resistant strains of bed bugs and cockroaches. Also good for Ants (Acrobat, Argentine, Odorous House, Pavement, Pharaoh, Pyramid), Beetles (Asian Lady, Confused Flour, Darkling Larva (Yellow Mealworm), Saw-toothed Grain), Bark Scorpions, Bed Bugs, Bees, Boxelder Bugs, Carpenter Bees, Centipedes, Cluster Flies, Cockroaches (American, Asian, Brown-Banded, German, Oriental, and Smokey Brown), Crickets, Drain Flies, Earwigs, Elm Leaf Beetles, Flour Beetles, Grain Weevils, House Flies, House Crickets, Indian Meal Moths, Paper Wasps, Pillbugs, Silverfish, Spiders (Black Widow, Cellar), Springtails, Stable Flies, Stinkbugs, Stored Product Pests, Termites, Wasps and Yellowjackets.
WHERE TO USE: Apply as a spot and/or crack and crevice and/or void treatment where pests harbor, nest, trail, run, and/or breed or hide.Treat into voids or to surfaces beneath cabinets, furniture, spaces between equipment, expansion joints, surfaces behind sinks, floor drains (to sewers), lockers, and water pipes. Exterior treatments around the listed areas are limited to spot and/or crack and crevice treatments where pests enter around doors, windows, eaves, attic vents and holes in exterior walls where utilities enter.
The nozzle comes attached to the can and there is a straw injector you can use for injecting cracks or crevices. You can also remove it to use for spot treatments.
WHEN TO RETREAT: As explained above, Phantom is not a fast acting product and for this reason, many people tend to over use it thinking its not working. But in most cases, treatments will last at least 2 weeks if not 4 weeks. So a good rule to follow is to renew treatments every 2 weeks if pests remain active but if they disappear, don’t treat again for at least a month. And if you follow this “once a month” routine, its not likely any pests will return.
ADVANTAGES OF PHANTOM: There are several advantages this product has over most residual aerosols. These advantages are noticed when one needs to treat in the home. For starters, since it goes on “dry”, it can be used around wood floors, tiles and other shiny substrate without leaving a visible mess. Liquid sprays are usually not an option in such an environment and ordinary aerosols will many times require some cleanup to remove oily films. When used properly, Phantom won’t be leave any visible residue. This makes it ideal for use on boats, vehicles and other hard to treat locations. Another advantage of Phantom is it’s low odor. Barely detectable when applied properly, it’s easy to use this inside without stinking everyone out of the home for days. Lastly, it’s slow mode of action means you won’t be alerting target pests that anything has been applied. Most will have no clue anything has been used and go about their normal business which means they’ll be picking up a lethal dose and dying in the days following the treatment. Traditional aerosol products usually flush out or repel pests which in turn can scatter them out and about making it difficult to get them over treated areas. This won’t happen with Phantom.

Is this product okay to spray down sink and tub drains that go to a septic tank? I’m concerned about keeping the septic system ‘alive and happy’ while getting rid of springtails.

For down the drains, we recommend using the Enz-A-Bac followed by either the Lemon Air or Sanni Shine. It’s listed in our articles for drain treating and an effective treatment for springtails, clover mites, drain flies, and more!

When using PT-221 down a drain or for direct contact on the springtails in the bathtub or sink, what is the recommended clean up?
admin says
Sandi,
There is no “cleanup” required.
In fact, the PT-221 should be applied directly down the drain late in the evening so it can sit overnight undisturbed. In other words, you do not want to run water or pour anything else down the drain for as long as possible after the PT-221 is applied. This will enable the treatment to get the “best” result and have the biggest impact on any pests (like springtails) that might be living down the drain.
And come next morning, the sink/tub/shower can be used as normal with no risk or hazard to people, etc.
For PT-221 alternatives, you can also check out our Enz-A-Bac and Lemon Air products. The Enz-A-Bac works on breaking down the organic buildup which drain pests feed on. Then, follow up with a Lemon Air treatment after 24 hours to eliminate active springtails and other drain pests.

Is this safe to use in a home with a dog? Sometimes our dog in known to kill bugs with his mouth, but generally not eat them. Will he be safe?
admin says
Jennifer,
When used properly, the Phantom will pose no hazard to you, your family or your dog. Now of course you need to keep the kids and pets away when treating but once the area dries, which will only take 30-60 minutes, everyone can come back and use the living space like normal.

How long does the application last before you need to reapply? I am planning to use this to get rid of thrips that are in my home (I have no plants but I’m in an apt building so they are coming in from somewhere).
admin says
Kelly,
As listed above, Phantom will last at least 2 weeks if not 4 weeks. So if you continue to find pest activity 2 weeks after you treat, go ahead and treat again. But if there is no new activity for several weeks after you treat, there is really no need to spray again for at least 4 weeks.
That being said, I would not recommend Phantom for thrips. I say this for a few reasons. First and foremost, thrips fly. And for that reason the use of a space spray would be better suited for sure.
Remember, Phantom is a crack and crevice material and not designed to be sprayed out into open areas.
Second, Phantom is tedious to apply (you must use a tiny straw injector) and since thrips can hide just about anywhere, I don’t think you’ll ever be able to get enough of the potential nest sites treated to have a net positive impact.
But would be ideal for thrips is to install an Aerosol Machine and some Metered Insecticide. These little machines can be set out discreetly in any room and because they work automatically, there is no chance of them failing. Just set it and leave it. Basically they’ll be releasing a small amount of pyrethrin which is very active on any kind of flying insect.
Cost wise it would be a lot more economical to use compared to Phantom and since it would require just a minute or two to set up, the machine will also save you a lot of time and effort.

Does this product come with some sort of injector tip? How easy is it to spray into small deep cracks and crevices?
admin says
Brian,
Phantom comes with a straw injector. Its around 6 inches long and very skinny making it ideal for directing the treatment into any crack. I use it in my home all the time since I have a lot of hardwood floors and don’t like using liquids which make a mess on my flooring. For me, Phantom is ideal. Its odorless and goes on dry whether so I can use pretty much anywhere inside – even for spot treating.

When using Phantom Crack & Crevice spray in a cabinet or pantry, how long does it need to air out, and should I wash it prior to putting foodstuff back into the cabinet? We have an infestation of pantry moths and need a crack & crevice spray to kill the larvae. We have obtained traps, but obviously those won’t take care of the larvae.
Thank you!
admin says
Rochelle,
Washing or using any kind of cleaning compound after the treatment with Phantom will just destroy the residual and effectively render the Phantom useless. Remember, the whole concept behind applying the Phantom in the first place is so that any larvae which hatch from eggs cannot relocate throughout the treated zone. Cleaning or washing the area would effectively defeat this purpose so don’t do it.
As for dry time; just follow the directions listed in our safety video. This video is located on this page, just above these comments, and it covers all the general guidelines you need to know regarding safe Phantom use. Basically any dishes, food stuff and other items can be safely put away within 1-2 hours after the treatment but again, watch the video as it covers everything in great detail.

Kim Smithey says
There are hundreds and hundreds of red wasps living under the siding of our home. We still have a few random warm days and the wasps swarm everywhere. I was wondering if the Phantom spray will still work since winter is coming and the wasps wouldn’t be going in and out?
admin says
Kim,
If you read our wasp control article, you’ll learn that this insect does not die at the end of fall. In fact they will hibernate on structures all winter and on warm days, get active. They also “mark” structures with pheromones and scent which will attract more wasps every passing year.
Now based on the numbers you’re reporting, it would seem to me that this problem has been developing over several years and clearly has gotten out of control which is why you’re seeing so many.
The good news is they can easily be controlled and prevented from using your home for their winter hibernation. But the product you’ll want to use is the Drione dust listed in our article and not the Phantom aerosol. Basically Phantom is only good for a few weeks and not well suited for outdoor applications. But Drione is ideal for this problem.
Using a Hand Duster or Dustick, it would be wise to puff some Drione into any crack or crevice you can find around your home. Basically you’ll want to target every row of siding, behind rain gutters and shutters, around window frames and door frames and basically anywhere wasps may be hiding. The Drione will both kill them on contact and provide a 6-12 month residual so your home will remain wasp free for a long time. That being said, I would recommend dusting again next fall just to be sure none return.

We had bugs in our rice (rice weevils?) and I want to make sure they are all dead and that they never come back. I found one live bug tonight but it was inside a plastic bag that I had sealed after the infestation, which was a few weeks ago. Are they back? What products do you recommend?
Thank you.
admin says
Sarah,
If you review our rice weevil article, you’ll learn that many stored pests are actually packaged in foodstuff during the production of the item. For this reason, its not uncommon for people to find live activity inside sealed bags weeks or months after the bring the item home from the market.
Furthermore, eggs and pupae are so small that they are essentially undetectable by an untrained eye. So even if you were the one who sealed the bags you mentioned in your question, its entirely possible the rice had eggs and/or pupae in it which you just sealed inside the bag. And since there will be plenty of food and oxygen in the bag to support their needs, its no surprise that live activity is now being noticed.
So how do you proceed to rid yourself of this pest? Again, as our article details, the process is simple. Just throw away any contaminated food item and for product you would like to save that don’t currently show activity, store them in plastic bags to see if anything emerges in the next month. If nothing shows, you can consider it to be bug free. But if you find insects in it weeks later, get rid of it.
As for treatments; use the Phantom to spray all cabinets, shelving, pantries and other food storage areas in and around your kitchen. Treat monthly until the problem is gone. You should also set out Xlure Traps to help monitor the area. They will help by alerting you to any problematic areas you may have missed with the Phantom.

Our pantry was built inside an old laundry closet, so there is a small gap between the closet drywall and the wooden walls of the pantry. We brought in pantry moths from a box of rice, but by the time I realized it, we had an infestation. I tried the sticky traps from the hardware store, but those only attract the males…and not many of them. After fighting the pantry moths for several weeks, I found PT-Phantom on the internet. We never saw any larva, so the crack and crevice straw made it easy to reach the areas where we think they were laying their larva. We continued to see and kill a few moths for about 3 days, but are now moth-free! PT-Phantom doesn’t have much smell, so it was great for the kitchen! I like that the can comes with an extra spray nozzle cap. I highly recommend this product!

I have used an exterminator for my home because of a persistent ant issue for several years. However, I was not sure that I wanted to take on the exterminator role. I found this site and identified a few options but my inexperience caused me to hesitate. So I figured I would risk sounding like a total rookie and give the company a call.
I spoke with Dave (I think). He was great. He helped me select the appropriate product, talked to me about the application and talked about the financial benefits of my doing the very simple job as opposed to paying an exterminator to do the work. I will save over $300 this year by being my own exterminator.
I get a professional grade product and have instructions from a pro! What is there to think about besides what to do with the extra $300 I now have?
I Highly recommend USPRAY.

I have springtails on my window sills, in my sink, and in my baseboard heating. I’ve read what to use to get rid of them. I just want to be sure that if I spray the PT phantom or d-force aerosol now (in the summer), when the heat is eventually turned on, will any unhealthy chemicals be dispersed into the air?
admin says
Susan,
No need to worry. The actives in the aerosols are part of the mist/liquid you see when you apply them. Once they come to rest on treated surfaces, inside gaps and where you direct the spray, the active will remain for barely 2-3 weeks. During this time its breaking down and by a month, there is nothing left to get airborne. More importantly, because the formulation is so dilute already, it doesn’t pose a risk or danger even if its fresh and you were to touch it. In other words, its so diluted it can barely kill the bugs let alone impact mammals like pets or people.
Simply put, we’re (mammals) far more complicated compared to insects and the only way we can be impacted by the treatments would be if we were spray some in our eyes or intentionally eat some.
Now true, spraying some in your eyes would sting. But thats about it. Within a few hours the discomfort would pass and you’d have you vision return fine. And if you try to eat any? Well, it tastes really bad (take it from someone who knows) so it would be hard for anyone to intentionally ingest enough to get sick because its simply too distasteful and not concentrated enough to have an impact from just a small amount.
Lastly, breathing it when you apply some is about the only time you’d have a real chance to get an exposure and for this reason, we do suggest keeping kids and pets away when treating. And personally, I like to wear surgical or rubber gloves. This way if I get any on my hands, I don’t have to stop to wash; I can just carry on and complete the task at hand.
More on how to safely use our aerosols can be learned by viewing the safety video located just underneath the “add to cart” button above but if you’re using it correctly, there will be no hazard or risk presented into your living areas.

Patrice Bush says
Can this product be used inside of a car? I have 3 little ones who ride with me daily in the back seat. I believe I have stink bugs in my car.
Tech Support says
Patrice,
It can be used in a car. Stinkbugs will roost around door, trunk and hood seals so use the crack and crevice straw (you get one with every can ordered) to treat these areas. If possible, direct the spray into and hollow voids or gaps around the seal. Those rubber seals tend to harbor pests and can be mounted in “holes” on the cars body bugs will be using.
In the cab you’ll want to spray where bench seats sit on the floor, all the gaps leading down to under the seats and under the carpeting.
In general you don’t need to spray open surfaces like where people sit, windows or door panels. Just focus on all cracks and crevices where they might be hiding.
As for safety concerns; treat in the evening when you know the car will be sitting for at least 1-2 hours. Make the application with all doors, hoods and trunks in their “open” position so the treatment can dry and air out. After 1-2 hours, the vehicle can be used like normal but letting it sit overnight would be ideal. This way the treatment will have time to take full effect since driving it around will wear the chemical down.
Lastly, retreat once a week until the problem is gone and you’re not seeing them anymore. In most cases it will take 2 treatments to get the problem under control.

Customer service is EXCELLENT!!!! I believe in a natural lifestyle and tend to shy away from chemicals, but when we started finding larder beetles in our home, I was at a loss with natural remedies. I contacted bugspray and they helped me find the perfect product. The Phantom spray is for cracks and crevices and dries quickly. Cracks and crevices are not highly trafficked places by people, but they are for bugs so I can be confident in using this product. It also doesn’t kill the bug right away and allows them to infect their fellow bug friends. Great product! I have noticed a huge improvement. Thank you to bugspray.com for running a fantastic business and helping with our pest problem!
Glen C. says
Excellent! The PT-Phantom worked perfectly! Even after removing all opened packages from the pantry and using moth traps, I just couldn’t get rid of the pantry moths. Every night there were several fluttering around. I sprayed a few strips (single pass, about two feet long, holding applicator about six inches from the wall) on the wall behind the shelves in the pantry and on several walls around the house. Sure enough, there was no noticeable odor and no stain as soon as the propellant dried away. Best of all, within a couple of days, the moths started to disappear, falling to the floor, dead! Two weeks after the first and only spraying, we see a lonely moth fluttering around every couple of days, but they are essentially gone. What a relief! Well worth the $40 (! including shipping) and I think I have more than half the can left!
Ashley says
Does PT-Phantom work for darkling beetles in our home? We have a poultry farm and they are really bad this year so I am noticing them in the house more so then not.
Tech Support says
Ashley,
If you read our Darkling beetle article, you’ll learn this pest will invade homes if given the chance. And based on where you reside, there are no doubt a lot of them active on your property. This means there is a good chance some will end up on the home and eventually, inside.
To stop the invasion, you should spray the homes exterior with Cypermethrin and inside, you should treat with the Cykick above. Cykick is a non-repellent which means it won’t be noticed by foraging beetles which make it inside. They’ll readily walk over the treatment and in turn, pick up a lethal dose which will kill them in 2-3 days. Traditional sprays used inside will just chase them around so don’t spray anything other than the Phantom inside but outside, the Cypermethrin will do a good job of keeping them off the home.

Springtail Relief! I’ve been fighting a Springtail infestation in my home for the past several months. I have a Pest Control company come and spray the house inside & out 6x/yr and they came in and dumped “stuff” down the drain and sprayed for Springtails but nothing offered any relief. I bought Phantom, Cykick, and Drain Pipe Treatment, used them all 3 exactly how the website indicated and I noticed an immediate improvement. With continued use, I no longer have an issue in 2-3 of my bathrooms. And I envision the Springtails in my remaining bathroom will be eradicated with a little more time. I am really impressed with these products and will continue using them.

We have approximately 22 foot high ceilings; how high does the aerosol spray reach?
Tech Support says
Erin,
The aerosol spray is not designed to be sprayed much beyond a foot or two. This means if you want to get this ceiling area treated, you’ll need to use a ladder. But over the years, we’ve had many customers invest in our aerosol pole. This device is designed to hold aerosols like the Phantom and then the holder is mounted on top of a series of 4 foot long poles. The kit comes with 4 poles and stands around 18 feet high when assembled. Anyone 5 feet tall or taller would easily be able to reach the ceiling at 22 feet and use the pole to make the application without having to climb a ladder. These aerosol poles are quite strong and will last a life time. And they’re great for use around the home too. Here’s a link to them in our catalog:
Aerosol Pole: https://bugspray.com/equipment/dusters/dustick-aerosol-pole
Attaching the Phantom on the top of this pole would be easy and definitely help make the treatment efficient and thorough.

Hi Jonathan,
We’ll be going to Panama at the end of the month. Is there anything like PT-Phantom in liquid/oil form that can be used on the skin? As kissing bugs mostly attack the face, applying an insecticide directly to the skin might be helpful especially at night. (At 78, I have lots of cracks and crevices –wrinkles– but I don’t think that spraying those is what you’re talking about 😉
Anyway, I don’t think kissing bugs have made their way to Canada yet, but I doubt we’ll escape their invasion. Our government currently has no legislation in effect to ban kissing bugs! (We have a whimpy Prime Minister)
From alerts on TV it looks like your enterprise has a promising future! Good luck, and if you can answer my question I’ll be ordering some.
Jacob
Tech Support says
@J van Oosterom: Jacob,
Even if Phantom could be sprayed on your skin, it wouldn’t be a good option. As a “non repellent”, it would not stop any insect from landing and at least trying to bite. But I’m certain we have a few options that can be used which will help; here’s the “short list”.
For clothing like hats, shorts, pants, shirts, go with our low odor Perm 10. Mix 2 oz per gallon of water and soak your clothes in it for a few minutes and then allow them to drip dry.
Permethrin 10: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/liquid/permethrin-10
You can also mix up some in a small spray bottle and bring it afield to “renew” the treatment as needed.
For your skin, go with either the deet lotion or aerosol:
Deet 20% Lotion: https://bugspray.com/repellents/liquid/deet-20-lotion-6-oz
Bug Off Aerosol: https://bugspray.com/repellents/aerosol/bug-off-aerosol-repellent-8-oz
But my favorite is the 100% Maxi Deet:
Deet 100%: https://bugspray.com/deterrents/liquid/deet-98

Great product! Easy to use with a low odor that disappears quickly. Used it with the max force gel which was applied a few days after and have seen no carpenter ants in the house. Hit the area where I thought the nest was with Drione a few days later to be safe. Seems to have done the job.

Perfect for foundations! This product was specifically recommended for yellow jacket infestation of a house foundation. It works slowly over 2-3 days and does not alarm the yellow jackets, so they don’t attempt to escape into the house! I used it and waited 2 days. There was still a minimal activity at the hole in the mortar, so I repeated the treatment with total success. I was then able to patch the mortar.

I had at least a 24 inch square nest formed in the ceiling of my bedroom. The wasps/yellow jackets were coming in 25 feet up on the outside where an upper balcony was attached to the house. Blasted them stink bugs! I’ve tried everything on the market and nothing seems to work as well as this PT-Phantom. It doesn’t kill on contact but it seems that since I’ve been spraying around windows and on them when I see them, that I am getting less and less bugs. Where I used to find 20, I’m finding 1 or 2. Gosh they’re awful and keep trying to take over my cabin. Not a chance. This girl is fighting back! Try this product!

We had the beginning of a Springtail infestation together with some kind of tiny ants. The PT Phantom spray got rid of them almost instantly. Not only was the stuff amazingly effective, the application was very controlled and confined to the affected area. Highly recommended.

We have springtails coming in from the base of the toilet. We have checked the toilet for leaks and even replaced the wax ring even though there was no evidence of leaks or moisture there. We are currently treating the outside perimeter of the house as you suggest. We are going to order the deltamethrin for the crawl space under the bathroom. Can we use the PT-PHANTOM at the base of our toilet in the house? We have a cat who rarely comes in the bathroom but we are concerned about tracking the spray residue through the house. Also, can we still mop the bathroom after it’s been applied since we really just want to get the spray under the gap of the toilet where it sits on the floor?

By default, bathrooms and kitchens have plenty of moisture for springtails to thrive. This is true because you have a drain and the toilet which is a tank of water. Seeing springtails around the base or in the water closet is a common report so this is the “norm” for them.
To end the activity, spray the Phantom around the base and any other crack or crevice in the room. Unfortunately water will destroy it so plan on renewing the application after every mopping cycle.
Lastly, once dry there is no hazard to people or pets as explained in our site here: Pet Safe: https://bugspray.com/about-us#Are_our_products_pet_safe

This company had lots of very helpful information. I learned a lot. And with the information they provided I was able to make an educated and confident choice of which products would best suite my needs. They had the products recommended all available to purchase. My products were shipped and arrived promptly. so far the PT-Phamtom has worked great! I will definitely be keeping this on hand!

It’s Working!!!! Our area is having an invasion of elm seed beetles! I did all the outside recommendations- clean up leaves, caulk all cracks, pulled down the ivy and even cut the elm tree down and sprayed the siding. But there were still at least 200 in the house and shop every day. We sprayed the Phantom Aerosol in all the outside cracks- it did take a day or two, but there were only 5 in the house yesterday and only 1 so far today ! YAY!!!!
Fern Gieselman says
Very satisfied! I received the product very quickly. I used it to kill hornets/wasps? that were nesting under some siding. It took care of the problem with about four applications but we did a couple more for good measure.
Kelly Fitzharris says
This definitely helped as it said it would. I had taken care of the outdoor source of the Springtails, but still was seeing them inside a bit along baseboards and they would end up in my bathroom sink (having come up thru the medicine cabinet and sides of the sink, etc. I sprayed this stuff on a Friday evening (mostly using the needle into the crevices around sink cabinet area and along baseboards) and by Sunday/Monday there was a significant decrease in what I saw at nite. Now I dont have any in the sink in the mornings and don’t even worry about checking the baseboards. I will keep it up 1x month or so as needed.
Thanks so much!

I have infestation of mud daubers getting in my transmission vent and causing fluid loss. How can I keep them away?
Tech Support says
Brian,
This is an easy one. Simply mist spray some of the Phantom above onto the vent every few days to get any actively using it now. It will take 2-3 seconds of spray per vent. As they pass over it, they’ll pick up small amounts and in 2-3 days, die. Treat all vents for 1 week treating them a total of 3 times. After that, spraying them every 1-2 months will ensure no new ones come back. I use this method on my boat I keep at the local lake and it stops all wasps, spiders and more.

Hello, I have an infestation of red flour bettles and did find the source of the infestation, and did rid my house of it plus because I’m the kind of person that once I find a bug that’s pretty much it I do whatever is necessary to clear the problem, I have emptied my entire pantry I put everything that was in a bag, cardboard or paper package in the garbage, anything in a hard plastic or glass container I kept, but that hasn’t gotten rid of them, mind you I’m only seeing maybe 3-4 a day now I’m still seeing them and have found them in the living room now.? Are they looking for other food sources? I vacuumed everything washed all the shelve please help me … any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Tech Support says
Karrie,
If you review our red flour beetle article, you’ll learn that the adults you’re seeing do nothing but mate and lay eggs. So as long as you don’t treat, you’ll have eggs being laid because no matter how many adults you find, there will be plenty you don’t see. This will allow the problem to go on indefinitely until you stop them from regenerating.
To stop them, you’ll need to spray as our article explains using our products. The Phantom can usually help too. Remember, these bugs aren’t smart and don’t make conscious decisions about where to go to lay eggs so it could be anywhere. This is why you need to treat most if not all of the home.
More information on our products for this pest can be found on our site where you can also order. Alternatively you can call to place an order at 800-877-7290, extension 1:

Elda Nefat says
Hello, I have some pantry pests. They are tiny tiny little red/brown beetles. I believe they are drugstore beetles. I have emptied my pantry and ALL my cupboards and cleaned out everything. The only thing is I can’t get into the crevices. I have set out pheromone traps and have over the last few days only found 1 in my pantry but 1 in my bathroom tub. The one in my tub was on my pheromone trap.
Today I found one in my living room. I don’t have a pheromone trap in there but will put one in there. Do you have any other recommendations?
Thank you…I hate bugs..ugh.
Tech Support says
Elda,
Pheromone traps are just monitors meaning they should be used as a way to learn where pests are active or focused. But they’re not a way to control a local problem. At this point you’ve been finding beetles so using traps is not going to help. In other words you have a problem so its time to start spraying.
So if your goal is to get rid of them, you’ll need to start treating ASAP. The minimal amount of treating would be to use the Phantom listed above. Apply it in all the cabinets and other areas of the infested room like baseboards, around appliances, etc. One can is more than enough to treat the average home a couple of times when used properly.
If it turns out you have a more extensive problem, you might want to use the liquid options we offer detailed in our drugstore beetle article. Based on what you are reporting, I think the Phantom will do the trick and should be fine to start.

Kristen Clashan says
Hi there. I want to use this in my shower/bath tub for springtails. After I spray it and let It dry, can I take a shower or bath as normal?
Tech Support says
Kristen,
Great question.
So a couple of things are factoring in here. First and foremost, any product you apply will be washed away so my best advice is to treat after you shower and the wall dries.
The second is more complicated. Phantom is non-repelling and slow acting. This means it won’t do anything for 1-2 days. If you want to knock these guys out for good, I suggest you treat all walls and let the treatment sit for 3 days without showering.
If you do not have access to another shower or bath, the next best option would be to get a more aggressive spray like our FS MP. Use this and you’ll kill everything immediately as well as flush any out nearby so any other pockets you missed will be noticeable and easy to treat.
FS MP: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/aerosol/fs-mp-insecticide-15-oz-aerosol
FFS MP won’t last once you shower but at least it will be killing off what you’re seeing and with any luck, knock them out if you’re thorough.

Works great with no odor. Single spray at night under the siding and did not provoke the wasps to come out.

Miller Moth Eliminator but since the cold weather has come prematurely, I haven’t used this product yet.
Lisa M. says
Great! For Miller Moths! This product has been SUPER EFFECTIVE since application 3 weeks ago. Love that the odor is GONE within 5 minutes & dries also. The spray can included a spray stray to reach deep, tight areas. We have ZERO Miller Moths inside now. I HIGHLY recommend this spray can application.
I used the ONSLAUGHT w/pump sprayer for the outside 2 weeks ago and it seems to be working well.

Will this work if I spray it under the hood of my car? I have found mud daubers and their nest (since removed) in my car’s AC box and fear they will continue to return and damage my car.
Tech Support says
Megan,
Actually this is a great choice. I used it on my boat for this exact reason. The daubers get into the vents for the motor housing and its bad for the motor. But the Phantom stops this and keeps away the spiders too.

Hi, I live in a 3-story condo, I wondered how to apply PHANTOM to eliminate the confused flour beetles forever? Spray where I saw them or just the infestation area? The reason I’m asking is because about a month ago, I first found the beetles most on the third floor stairs and bathrooms where there’s no way having any food there. And recently I found some beetles inside the pantry on second floor and few on first floor bedroom. And today I’ve empty all the flour and sealed all the dry food. Can you give me suggestions on which area I should apply the PHANTOM?
Tech Support says
Delruby,
This is an easy one. The short answer is “everywhere”. Here’s why.
First, adults are not drawn to food and don’t eat. All they do is mate and lay eggs. And they like to do this activity most anywhere so seeing them where there is no food is in fact the most common place for them to be found. Basically they naturally forage away from food looking to establish nests in new areas. Only larvae, their baby stage, will be where you have food.
This is also why using the Bithor we have in our article is important. Phantom alone cannot protect your whole apartment. Rugs, carpeting and many other areas can get infested so you need to get them all treated. This is not possible with Phantom which is only good for spot treating cabinets.
More on how to treat properly can be read in our article here:

Linda. says
I read an article that said to use Pt Phantom on a boat (sprayed on the carpeting and under the cover) to get rid of mud daubers. Is this true?
Tech Support says
Linda,
I’m using it on my boat but not on the carpeting. I spray it into the air flow vents as the mud daubers like to come/go through them. I also lightly mist the gaps where the covers snap on to the boat deck as they like to pass under it there, in between the snaps. I also spray it up top where the bimini is supported by the aluminum tube frame. Works great for the mud daubers and spiders.

This stuff is amazing! It absolutely works! Wasps decided they liked the hollow areas between the inner liner and hull of my boat. There was so much activity at every vent, I thought I’d need to have the whole boat exterminated. I followed the simple directions and tested a small, painted area. Once I was certain there would be no issue, I put on the extension tube, waited until late evening, and sprayed around and in the most active places. In the morning there was still activity, but 2 days later, very little. I got brave and went after every opening and under the gunnel bolsters along both sides (full length.) I waited another day to check it out and didn’t see a single wasp!! This product is excellent! Super easy to use, obviously effective, and ! leaves no staining or residue! It does exactly what is says it will do!!!
Katie says
Hi there,
I have black carpet beetles in my car and vacuuming and steaming haven’t eliminated them. I think they started in the trunk, then were living under the back seat (until I removed the back seat and vacuumed and steamed under there), but I just found one in the driver’s seat and I don’t know where it came from. What would be the best way to treat my car with Phantom if I’m not sure of the source of the beetles at this point? Thank you for this helpful comment area!
Tech Support says
Katie,
This is an easy one. Remove all the mattes or loose pieces on the floor. Now lightly mist all the upholstery at ground/foot level so they’ll have a coating of Phantom on it.
Now apply some to all cracks and crevices around doors, moldings, where seats attach to the frame, etc. Carpet beetles will routinely nest in between the upholstery and the frame so effectively “under” what you can treat. For this reason treating all the places where there are holes or cuts is important as this is where they will be emerging. If you get those areas covered, they’ll be exposed when they come out and be ineffective at laying eggs.
Treatments should be allowed to dry for at least 2 hours, ideally opening the car doors and letting it sit overnight is perfect.
And don’t forget to treat the trunk and up front where the upholstery goes to the firewall between the motor and passenger compartment.
Lastly, plan on treating 2 weeks after your first application and then 30 days later so all told, at least 3 treatments to insure the problem is resolved.

For Yellowjackets in house siding, this is the way to go. Had 3 large nests; sprayed each entry 3 times; no Yellowjackets! The spray does not stir them up at all, just as advertised. FANTASTIC !!!
