I got your Maxxthor and started doing my own pest control instead of using a company. I’m treating every 3 months so about 4 times a year here in Florida. When I spray, there are a lot of dead bugs. Why do they keep coming back? I thought the Maxxthor would be repelling them so I wouldn’t be seeing as many but they keep coming back. I guess I was just expected to be seeing a lot less bugs when I spray compared to what seems to be on my home when I treat. Do I need anything else? I’m using around 5 gallons when I treat which is more than the pest service was spraying. I’m wondering if its okay to spray more like maybe once a month or so?
If you reside in Florida, you have bugs that can be active all year long. Combine that fact with the regular weather patterns in Florida means we would definitely recommend you spray at least once a month. Maxxthor can last several weeks but if you live in a region where there are a lot of pests combined with a lot of rain and hot temps? Than treating monthly will most likely be needed if your goal is to not see any on the home.
Here is a “regular treatment” guideline to follow based on what we’ve learned over the years.
Initially – when you first get our products to treat a current pest issue – plan on treating as often as necessary to not see activity. How frequently will that be? We can’t say for sure but for most customers, it may mean spraying at least once a week for the first few weeks. We always recommend being aggressive at the start so you can “get ahead” of the problem. This is especially true with pests like SPRINGTAILS or CLOVER MITES.
Now once the initial treatments take full effect, you won’t see targeted pests coming back quite as frequently. In this stage, try to go a full month without seeing any bugs. Once you reach this level, stay on the “once a month” schedule for the first year. This is generally what we recommend for anyone that lives in Florida up to Virginia and then from there, across the nation over to California. So only the northern most customers may have the luxury of waiting 1-2 months in between treatments without having pests return. But for most everyone else, monthly applications will be required if you don’t want anything reappearing.
Keep in mind this is not an exact science. Products applied outside will be subject to the weather and so for areas like where you live, the chemical could be gone in 2-3 weeks. This means you may need to do an “extra” treatment or two during a normal hot/wet summer.
As for what to use in addition to the Maxxthor; go with the Maxxthor Granules. Generally using .5-1.5 lbs per side of the home once a month will help keep a good treatment in place on the ground all year long.
The following short video shows what to expect when treating a home that has pests. Again, if you don’t want to see anything after you’re spraying? Treat more frequently. Eventually you’ll be using enough so that it provides long enough residual to prevent re-infestation.
