We have a bad springtail problem and found online that your site seems to know what has to be done. Our service company that sprays is not helping us and they said there is nothing they can do that we have too much moisture which isn’t true. Our inside humid level is low, really low but springtails just keep coming out of the baseboards. Our house is a slab which I think is probably not great but I’m hopeful you can solve our problem. Can we pay for your services to come out and treat? We’re desperate and will pay travel expense too. We’re in North Carolina so not too far from your location. If not, anyone you can recommend?
So first, we can help. Over the years, we’ve consulted with thousands of customers who were dealing with tough pest problems including CLOVER MITES and SPRINGTAILS.
BUT WE DIDN’T DO THE WORK – THEY DID! Our mission is to work “with” you by offering insight and the best products (based on science and field results) to get the job done. Armed with our unique equipment, short “how to videos” along with the best products for the job, most anyone can tackle these tasks following our advice and guidelines.
So to answer your question, we don’t do field work anymore so you can’t hire us. And though we sell to hundreds of pest control companies, we’re not aware of one that is willing to do what is need to resolve a springtail issue. In fact, we talk to them quite a bit and they’re all on the same page when it comes to springtails: they just assume not having an account with the this issue.
Why? Because it would require them to do the kind of work they do not doing, using the amount of product they never want to apply and lastly, dedicating the amount of time they cannot spare. So are we surprised your company isn’t helping? No. And so the question has to be asked; why keep paying them?
Not to digress but that question is valid. We are not sure why but for some reason, countless people around our country will not fire their pest control service for not solving a springtail issue. We have no idea why this is happening. Think about it.
Would you continue to use a dentist who was not able to properly fill your cavity after drilling a hole? Or maybe your new crown wouldn’t adhere after a few days. Would you keep going back to him/her after it’s fallen off 5 times?
What your plumber who couldn’t fix the leaky kitchen sink faucet? How many times would you let him “try” before you hired a new company?
And the same goes for the mechanic that can’t fix your flat tire, the painter who keeps missing spots so the paint job is never complete or the electrician that installs a new ceiling an that won’t turn on. None of these service companies would ever make it in the real world. And yet for some reason, every day we hear from customers who have a service company that cannot solve a simple problem and they continue to spend hundreds, in some cases thousands annually and for what? We have no idea.
So first and foremost, quit wasting your money and move on. At this time, decide to either tackle the issue yourself OR hire a handyman to do the work for you using our products and information. You will be surprised at how well a handyman will listen. And when properly instructed, they can resolve the issue if you arm them with the right equipment, products and information on how to do the treatment.

These are comprehensive and cover most every scenario but in the end, you will thank us for our presentations. For most of our customers (over 50%), they can fix their issue with the “big three” (our granules and two concentrates).
Lastly, get the right tool to do the job.
Pests like springtails and clover mites, not to mention psocids or book lice, will require frequent treatments to reach their hidden nests. These spaces can include but not be limited to areas under baseboards, wall voids, under home siding, in attics or crawl spaces as well as air vents, tubs and showers. All of these locations will require surgical like treatments using our POWER INJECTOR and products like MAXXTHOR and BITHOR.
When the required time is taken to get these sites properly treated, you will end the problem because you’ll be treating these pests WHERE THEY ARE NESTING!
CONSIDER HIRING A HANDYMAN!
Now if you are not able to do the work but don’t want to hire a pest service, consider a local handy man! Armed with our products and equipment along with your insight, this is often a viable way to proceed.
Handymen are fast workers, they learn quickly and they’re eager to please. If you know what’s needed, most will readily accept the job. The one thing most any handyman can do is climb a ladder and this along could qualify them for the task.
Now should you anticipate using them monthly? In general, no. So if you are able to reduce/eliminate your problem and will continue treating down low once a month, the gutters should be okay as long as they’re treated at least once every 3 months.
SO WHAT SHOULD YOU DO NOW?
First, educate yourself a bit by reading some of our articles and watching some video. Next, sleep on it a few days. Evaluate the problem more and decide if you’re up to the task or if you’ll do better hiring a handyman.
We also invite you to send pictures of the home, one for each side, taken on the outside so that we can see the full side view per picture. Add to those pictures a few more of the baseboards giving you the issues. Include relative data like the following:
- When was the home built?
- How long have you been living there?
- Is the home built on a slab or does it have a crawl space or basement? And if it has a basement, is it finished or unfinished? If a crawl space, is it 1-2 feet in height or 4-5-6 feet and easy to enter and navigate?
- What kind of siding is on the home? Stucco? Aluminum? Vinyl? Masonite? Cedar Shakes? Hardy Board? Bead Board? Also, is it above grade or buried in either soil or cement at any part around the home? If yes, please send pictures.
- Is the problem mainly on exterior walls? If not, where else in the home? Bathrooms? Showers? Tubs? Sinks?
- How many levels is the home and do you have them on one level, two levels or all levels?
Now if you are thinking this is something you can tackle, send us some pictures along with the information we mention above. Most any problem can be resolved with just the two concentrates and our Power Injector along with some MAXXTHOR GRANULES assuming you have dirt on any side of the home.
Once we get your pictures and information updated, we’ll respond with details on what think you need to focus on and how to proceed. Most everyone see’s immediate improvement and if they’re reaching the nests of this pest, can get rid of them for good after 2-3 months.
