We live in hot, humid Florida and have a real problem with what I assume are moth larvae on vinyl siding. It is brown, long like spots and it is taking over. We have in the past used bleach and a brush to remove. However, we are building a new house and already have these spots covering this house also. Would any of your products work for deterring this larvae? I actually don’t see many moths just the larvae. Thank you!
We have a few products to stop this problem. First, understand that cleaning them off won’t stop new ones from coming around and continuing to use your home. This is true because once your home is “marked” with their scent, others will know its a good location and in turn, be drawn to it.
More importantly, the process they use to build their nests will many times include strong acids and other chemicals that can react with vinyl. This reaction will many times cause permanent discoloration and in some cases, damage. My point is you don’t want them nesting on the home.
Lastly, using strong compounds like bleach can be just as bad. In fact bleach will many times cause vinyl to fad or turn “brittle” and in the long run, is not the best way to handle resolving the issue.
Fortunately all these complications can be avoided by using one of two products we carry.
The first is an organic option. Known as PEST AWAY. It uses all natural plant oils and won’t adversely affect the homes siding nor will it kill any insect. When applied to homes, it will repel insects for 6-12 months.
Now if you want something stronger, MAXXTHOR EC would be the way to go. It will both kill insects as well as repel new ones from coming around so its quite powerful. And treatments will last 30+ days so you can apply it every 1-2 months to keep all insects off the home and under control.
Expect to use at least 1-2 gallons of mixed material when treating on a regular basis.

Two other points I’d like to make.
First, you mentioned you’re building a new home? Well, if you plan on using paint or stain on your new home, I suggest you get the Pest Away and use it as a paint or stain additive. This way the new structure will be well protected from this problem right away.
Second, have you inspected the yard and surrounding landscape for moths and/or larvae? Chances are high there are some active in the plants around the home and ultimately, getting control of any problem of any such problem in the yard will help cut down on the amount you see on your home. So if you weren’t planning on doing this, be sure to use the Maxxthor on them too.
