What’s the difference between the the Maxxthor granules and spray? I’m about to start treating for springtails and want the best one. If they’re the same, do I have to use both?
They use the same active ingredient BUT they are very different from one another in how they work. And for most pests, both will be needed. Here’s why.
Basically the Granules provide long term control ending soil infestations. The spray is for above ground to get the ones migrating from other areas.
So first, we have found MAXXTHOR GRANULES work best compared to any other granule on the market. They’re super fine, not corn cob or vermiculite based, and these tiny sand crystals get down into the dirt faster than anything else.
They also do the best job of releasing their active slowly compared to others. So instead of it all coming undone in a few days, Maxxthor takes 25-30 days to release and why we recommend applying them once a month.
That said, Granules are mostly designed for pests that nest and reproduce in the soil. Once applied, they will filter into the dirt BELOW active pests you’re seeing up top. For this reason the liquid form should be sprayed if you have pests migrating over the top of soil, turf, mulch and plants.
And this is why MAXXTHOR EC should be used. When combined with BOOST, Maxxthor EC will penetrate plants as well as tough to control pests like CRICKETS, GRASSHOPPERS and CLOVER MITES. All of these pests will be in the ground from time to time during the year BUT they are all very active above ground where granules won’t affect them.
So if you have foraging pests like grasshoppers or clover mites eating your plants, they’ll readily migrate en mass above the treated zone granules can protect. To eliminate them, you’ll need to apply the Maxxthor EC and Boost and you’ll want to treat from the base of the foundation and then out into the yard as much as possible – especially if you find them coming back within a few days of your previous application.
In summary, the two work hand in hand. The granules are for the ground and soil where the EC is for above ground, on plants and where active pests are foraging. And though they both work the same on targeted pests, they cover and protect different zones. Lastly, use the granules once a month as they are time released. But the spray should be reapplied as needed and for bad problems, that could mean more than one application weekly until your target pest is not seen.
