Hi there – I’m writing on behalf of my parents. They started with bed bugs back in April 2017. They tried treating it on their own with no avail and around June started being bit by invisible bugs. They hired a pest control company to eradicate the bed bugs, which they did. However, they are still dealing with a mite or noseeum of some sort. They’ve had 2 opinions from pest control company’s and are being told dust mites but they don’t treat for that. They are at their wits end and need something to eradicate these mites. Can you provide some insight and advice for them? Thanks so much.
There is a wide range of bugs which can cause issues for some people. In some cases allergies are involved; in other cases certain people can get targeted by a local insect but not everyone can be affected. More important is the fact that not everyone “reacts” the same to any one insect. Things can get even more muddled when the cause is not visible or what we call “invisible”.
The good news is that if an insect is the root of the problem, then we know it must be either a crawling pest or a flying pest. Therefore, if you treat for both types, you’ll eliminate any potential for either species to be the cause.
This video explains the approach in great detail and the products discussed are presented below for ordering. The bottom line is you DO NOT have to “know” what the pest is to treat successfully! All this is explained in our video:
The following video details the “TOP 5 INVISIBLE BUGS” and why they can make any miserable with pain and discomfort!
So as explained in our video, the first product to use is our MULTIPURPOSE INSECT KILLER. It features a quick killing agent along with a second active that can last several weeks. But what makes this formulation unique is that you can use it on carpets, furniture AND as a space spray. This means it can treat for both crawling pests and flying pests.
For crawling pests, plan on using about 30 seconds of spray for every 100 sq/ft of carpet, furniture, etc. Multipurpose Insect Killer has a slight “cedar” odor to irritate local pests. This causes them to get active, move “through” the treated zone and in turn, die fast.
For space spraying, apply 3-8 seconds directed up high in a room measuring 10 feet wide by 10 feet deep by 10 feet high. Improvement of the problem will be immediate but as our video explains, you may need to treat several times a week to get control of the active pest. This will all depend on the life cycle of the pest, how fast their pupae re-emerge, etc.
For small problems isolated to 1 or 2 rooms, the Multipurpose Insect Killer will be efficient and fine for the job. But if the entire structure is having issues requiring a lot of product to be used, you’ll be better served using our AEROSOL MACHINES.
These small devices are powered by batteries and can be set on shelf or mounted on the wall. One machine will cover up to 600 sq/ft. By default, they will release a small amount of product (less than a second release) every 15 minutes.
The following “short video” (less than 60 seconds long) shows how these machines work:
These machines accept a small can of pyrethrin based aerosol that will control anything flying around, And because the treatment is constantly being renewed every 15 minutes, nothing will be able to use the air space being treated as long as the machines are kept running.
Each machine will need a can of CLEAR ZONE aerosol. When set to go off every 15 minutes, one can will last 30 days. Plan on getting enough to run your machines for two months.
Conversely, if you suspect the pest is a crawling insect, something like a flea, dustmite or other carpet/furniture dwelling insect, the use of BITHOR will be more cost effective. Use 1 oz per gallon of water and plan on getting around 1000 sq/ft of coverage per 1 gallon of mixed product.
Bithor is odorless, can be spot sprayed on any fabric and won’t spook or chase insects around. They’ll readily move through the treatment unsuspecting anything is even there and as a result, will end up dying in a couple of days.
Bithor is great for use on sensitive things like furniture and carpeting as its super safe. The following “short video” (less than 60 seconds long) explains why its so safe for use on surfaces where people and pets typically use to rest.
Bithor will kill quickly and can remain active for 2-4 weeks. But if you have a resurgence of pests within a week or less time, spray again until you break the current life cycle and get relief from returning pests.
Use a good PUMP SPRAYER to apply the Bithor.
WHAT IF YOU KNOW THEY ARE FLYING PESTS?
If you know for sure these pests are flying, consider getting our SPARROW HAWK FLY TRAP. It will catch any biting annoying pest that flies including but not limited to noseeums, mosquitoes, gnats, fungus flies, thrips and more.
Using a replaceable glue pad to catch them, the black UV light bulb draws them inside where they get caught.
These can be set up in any room with activity and in general, can really help reduce active adults. First, they’ll help by removing all flying pests. Second, they’ll help by enabling you to identify the unknown entity. Run them around the clock or put them on a timer so they’re only at night. When run at night only, they’ll attract anything flying around and have the biggest impact.
We also offer this in a kit so you can save a little if you were getting some of the Multipurpose Spray and a trap.
The Aerosol Kit is the most efficient for sure.
If you get one of these traps and end up noticing that you are catching a lot of pests around a sink, drain, shower or tub, that would be a good sign the pests are thriving in the drain lines. For this activity, treating with LEMON AIR down the drain 1-2 a week would be smart.
Lemon Air is super easy to use too. The following “short video” (less than 60 seconds long) summarizes how to use it.
Using just 2 oz of Lemon Air per gallon of water, you can effectively treat any drain with just 1/2 gallon of mixed solution down the drain just before you retire for the evening. This gives it a good while to sit without water running.

I have had bugs of some type, seems to have started with infected birdseed in the garage. I’ve had three exterminators over the past two years although they are reduced some I still am tormented by them biting just me. I have been to a dermatologist with no help. They seem to be in the Furniture the most. I have bought new furniture but within days they are in the new furniture. Please give recommendations. Thank you

Theresa,

Our best recommendation is detailed above. The steps are simple:
.
First spray all carpets, furniture and baseboards with the Bithor.
.
Bithor: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/liquid/bithor_sc
.
Next, spray anything super sensitive you didn’t want to spray with the Bithor mixture with the Multipurpose Aerosol.
.
Multi Purpose Insect Killer: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/aerosol/multi-purpose-insect-killer-10-oz
.
Lastly, set up some Aerosol Machines fitted with Clear Zone.

.
Clear Zone: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/aerosol/clear-zone-metered-insecticide.html
.
This approach will kill anything crawling and anything flying so no matter what you have, it will not be able to live in your home.

Due to living in New York the site says I can not buy Bithor. What should I do?

Go with the Onslaught. Its similar but registered for sale into NY. Same look and about the same results. Mix 1 oz per gallon when regular spraying. In a Mini Mister, just 1/4 oz per tank.

Dennis,
This is an easy one. Get the Bithor listed above and use it in our 20 gallon Hose End Sprayer shown here:.
.
Hose End: https://bugspray.com/equipment/sprayers/20-gal-hose-end
.
Add 5 oz to the sprayer and then water to the halfway line. Spray this over the lawn, mulch, shrubs etc. It will control anything out there in the yard; 5 oz of the concentrate will cover 5,000 sq/ft of turf/mulch.
