i’m in virginia and its been a pretty warm winter so far but about to get a cold spell. I heard it might last a couple of weeks or longer. I was about to apply your maxthor granules and spray but will the cold weather ruin the treatment?
In general, cold won’t hurt any of our products (like MAXXTHOR GRANULES or MAXXTHOR SPRAY). The best way to understand the impact cold might have is to relate the cold to a refrigerator and why we use them. As you know, we use refrigerators to keep our food fresh, so it doesn’t rot. Well the same happens to our products when it gets below freezing temps on the ground.
So lets say you treat when its 60 degrees out on Feb 1st and then a few days later, it gets cold and you have 20-30 degrees at night with daytime highs of 35. And lets say this lasts 4 weeks, so for about a month you have a cold spell. The impact of the cold, for the whole month of February, is that the treatment will basically remain mostly in place. That means you can then skip the next scheduled treatment due at the start of March. So effectively, nothing will have been lost.
Now let’s say that at the start of March you’re seeing 60-70 degrees during the day and the 40-45 at night? Its means you’ll need to treat again in 30 days after it warms (at the start of April).
In summary, cold doesn’t have any bad impact. All it does is interrupt the degradation of the treatment so that you get longer residuals.
