How do you destroy rice weevil eggs? I have rice weevils and some kind of beetle bugs coming out of the baseboards. I’ve spray many times but they just keep coming out and I know that’s where they’re coming from cause I have glue pads there and I keep catching them. I don’t think I’m helping with the spray either cause more seem to come out after I treat and then a week or so later, more again. they just keep coming. Is there any option I can use to take them out for good?
In general, there is no practical way to kill insect eggs or the third stage known as the pupae. Most have an impervious cover so traditional insecticides won’t penetrate. On top of that, many are placed where its not easy to find them. In the end, there is no easy, efficient or practical way to deal with just the egg or even the pupal stage.
Now with rice weevils, the same is true. Typically they’ll lay eggs on the food where they’re most concentrated. And this is especially true if they are inside a sealed bag, like something you brought home from the super market. But if you have foraging adults found throughout the pantry, kitchen or in other areas of the home? That implies they are on the move and adults have only one thing on their mind: finding a mate, mating and laying eggs. And females will do this in any crack or crevice they can find.
To control such a problem, you’ll need to remove suspect food they’ve targeted. This is explained in our rice weevil article found here:

Once contaminated food has been removed, you’ll want to broadcast spray with BITHOR to control any randomly foraging around. Mind you this won’t solve the problem but at the very least, it will prevent them from laying new eggs with any success.
Bithor: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/liquid/bithor_sc
Bithor is odorless, water based, and can be applied to carpets and baseboards. It works well at preventing pests from spreading because its non-repelling.
But the more important treatment to end the issue will involve any crack, crevice or gap. The most important one will be under baseboards. And the product to use there will be BASE OIL and FENVASTAR PLUS.
Base Oil: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/liquid/deodorized-oil
Fenvastar: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/liquid/fenvastar-esfenvalerate
Base oil is super invasive and moves through cracks and crevices like a heat seeking missile. It helps the Fenvastar penetrate any and all stages and is the only product available that can kill off all stages at the same time.
You can apply the mixture using a paint brush but we don’t recommend using a standard sprayer because it will cause you to miss the cracks and loose a lot of the mixture.
That said, the best way to apply it is with the POWER INJECTOR.
Power Injector: https://bugspray.com/equipment/sprayers/bugspray-power-injector
The Power Injector is essentially a small sprayer that comes with multiple nozzles. You can use one of the fine mist nozzles to spray the Bithor actually and it will do an awesome job.
But where the Power Injector really shines is with the Base Oil. Using the Power Injector with both Base Oil and Fenvastar to treat under all the molding and you’ll be able to kill any and all stages on contact. This is really you’re only chance at eliminating the issue for good. At least for the ones that nestled deep in these gaps and cracks around the home. And you’ll want to start in the baseboards because that’s most likely where they are focused.
Mixture wise you’ll want to add 16 oz of Base Oil and 10ml of Fenvastar. And pressure wise, 15-20psi in the tank to start. We recommend treating under all baseboards too. This insures you don’t miss any spot where they are actively growing or emerging.
