TENGARD PERMETHRIN 36 %

TENGARD SFR

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Odorless concentrate labeled for use in and around homes. Easily mixed with water. Provides some residual.

TARGET PESTS: Although many pests are on the label, it will work well for flies on pets, livestock, horses and the surfaces where these pests are present.

WHERE TO USE IT: It is labeled for use throughout the home. Use it in animal quarters, garages, barns, sheds and in the yard where flies are present. Use it in a pump sprayer, a garden hose sprayer or a fogging machine.

RATE OF APPLICATION: Use it at the rate of 1-4 ounces to a gallon of water depending on target pests. Flying insects; 1 oz per gallon is usually good. For crawling pests, 2-4 oz per gallon. One gallon will treat up to 1000 sq/ft of surface area. Mix 2 ounces per gallon when spraying animals. For termite control, you can get 125-250 linear feet of soil treatment per 1.25 gallon jug.

Used for a Gypsy Moth Problem. After one application it seems like all of the moths that hatched are dead and there is no movement in the egg casings. I will continue to apply as directed but so far I am impressed with the results.

I was wondering what type of respirator you would recommend while using permethrin 36%. Do you recommend any other type of safety gear while spraying? Thank you!

      Earl,

In general, surgical or rubber gloves are always smart to use when preparing the formulation. So when I fill the tank, I always add 2.5 gallons of water, then chemical and then more water to top it off at 3 gallons. I like to use surgical gloves during this process so I don’t get chemical on my hands which would interrupt my task. Its not that the chemical would do anything; it can be washed off easily without posing a hazard. But to avoid having to wash, wearing the gloves is smart.

Once my tank is full and ready to be sprayed, I’ll don leather gloves (if its hot) or keep wearing the surgical gloves if the temps are moderate. I’ll also wear basic goggles and ear protection.

      Goggles: https://bugspray.com/equipment/safety/safety-goggle-basic

In general, I’m very good at using the “breeze” to ensure the spray is always released away from me so I don’t breathe it directly. But permethrin can make some people sniffle if you breathe a lot of it over time so for some users, a respirator removes any chance of exposure in case you’re hyper sensitive to it. Remember, permethrin is commonly sprayed on clothing to repel insects and in general, poses no hazard to people (mammals) but again, some are sensitive to it.

Lastly, I always recommend using the misting machine with nothing but water when you first use it. This way you can get acquainted with how it works, how to control it, what to expect from it “power wise”, etc. This way if there is anything not working or needing attention to adjust, it can be done with water in the tank instead of chemical.

What type of fogger would work best for this product? ULV or thermal? Would the FOGMASTER 6208 TRIJET
be a good choice? I have a Gypsy Moth problem involving six large oak trees on one acre.

    Thank you!

      Mike,

Thermal foggers are well suited for reaching out along flat terrain or when you need to cover heavy vegetation. The light small particles stay in the air longer compared to wet foggers and effectively reach out laterally better. But they don’t go higher and won’t provide any advantage for your need. Factor in cost and the FM6309 or FM6208 becomes the best choice assuming you want to reach up at least 20-30 feet up.

      FM6309: https://bugspray.com/equipment/foggers/fogmaster-6309-120-v

      FM 6208: https://bugspray.com/equipment/foggers/fogmaster-6208-trijet-120-v

For young trees 15 feet high or less, the FM5330 will work just as well too.

Great Product! I will never buy anything else! I Spray the lawn and around the house and garage, once every month from April 1 to July 4th then once every 2 months until November 4th. 1 Gallon takes care of more than 2 acres of property. We never find live crawling bugs in or around the house, we also never find live flying bugs in the house. Inside we use Viper every 3 months; probably overkill but I hate bugs in my house!

Have a huge gypsy moth problem here in upper Michigan. Needed something to kill off the adult moths. I used a backpack mister to apply. After 2 treatments I saw a huge decline in moth population. Will continue to use this product going forward.
