Every year my tomato plants get whiteflies and aphids. I can’t seem to stop them I’ll hand pick insects as I find them but these two are relentless. But what can I spray? I grow 3 types of tomatoes and give them to so many friends and family I’m afraid to make someone sick if I spray.
No need to worry about making anyone sick if you go with one of the organic options we have listed for these pests. If you review either article, you’ll see we have organic options listed and these do work well as long as you spray throughout the season. Organic sprays don’t linger long so it’s important you use them on a regular basis. This is especially true for whiteflies and aphids. Most likely this due to the fact that these species are small and can develop unnoticed so that by the time you do see them, it’s a major problem.
Plan now on treating the plants early in the growing season and make an application once a week. This will enable you to keep ahead of any developing infestation. Using this approach, I recommend INSECT SOAP or MULTIPURPOSE INSECT KILLER. Both are organic, work on whiteflies and aphids as well as other insects and can be used safely. No doubt the Multipurpose is the stronger of the two and if you find yourself dealing with something like tomato worms or other pests, get it over the soap.
