I was looking at purchasing Bifen to take care of our fly problem. When I read the msds sheet I see that it warns against spraying near waterways. Our yard grades into and is very close to a stream. Do you have another recommendations?
Most any pesticide concentrate we sell will have statements about not using it close to water like streams, lakes and ponds. In general, these statements are there to insure people don’t haphazardly mis apply it and cause some kind of contamination. And the best way to avoid this type of problem is to simply not use the BIFEN within 50 feet of the water.

In fact I use Bifen on my property which has a river on the back side of it but I just stay way clear of it making sure not come within 100 feet. But there is one big problem using this approach..
And the one trade off of avoiding this much area is that all the pests in that zone will be able to thrive. For many people, that means the treatment will be severely handicapped.
Fortunately there is a highly effective concentrate you can safely use around rivers, streams, ponds and lakes. In fact, it’s great for mosquitoes and other flying insects like flies and can be sprayed or fogged. Commonly used on boat docks and other sites that rest on top of water, it actually works real well too.
ESSENTRIA IC is a federally exempt concentrate that will both do the job and not pose a hazard to the local environment. Made from plant oils and food grade actives, Essentria is federally exempt from needing a registration number because it is so safe. Ideally suited for sensitive areas, this active can last 2 weeks or more but is safe enough to use weekly if needed.

Now you could opt to use a standard PUMP SPRAYER to apply it but that would be the “worse” way. A HOSE END SPRAYER would be better suited since you need a lot of water and coverage of the brush and really the best way is with some kind of fogger like our MINI FOGGER or FM6308.
