I have very very small black bugs that come out around the base of the kitchen faucet, behind and in the sink. No food is stored any where near. I see 10 or so at a time and may not see any for a day or so. They are not winged and very easy to kill. Can you tell me what they are and how to get rid of them? Thanks.
My guess is either springtails or book lice. For your sake, I hope they’re book lice. These are a lot easier to control and you can read up on how to treat for them here:

As you’ll learn, the FS MP aerosol will be the product to use for them since they’re mostly confined to one general area. So if you treat all the cracks, crevices, voids, etc. on the top of the counter, around the sink and then underneath the cabinet, you should be able to control them pretty easily.

Now if it turns out to be springtails, you’ll eventually start seeing them everywhere. As you can see by reading the article and posts on our springtail page, springtail problems always involve a large area and though they will many times be seen around a sink or two, people who see them there will almost always be seeing them elsewhere too. Like around windows, doorways, outside on the siding of the home, etc. So based on the fact your problem is focused on the sink, I don’t think it’s springtails.

Ultimate, if you send us a good close up image of this pest, we should be able to make a positive id to be sure. But I’m fairly sure if you start treating with some of the FS MP, you’ll be able to knock it out no matter what it might be.

The tiny bugs started around my faucet. They’ve started spreading. Now there are bug specks spreading on my floor. They are also getting on me as I sit in my chair watching tv. My house is very small. I’ve tried a Raid multi bug spray. Any idea what kind of spray to get, where to spray? It’s a small rental house, I’ve lived here almost 4 years and the last months is when I’ve seen these pesty critters. Not in my food.

Donna,
Most likely springtails. They’ve been quite active the past few months and one of the most common ways they enter a home is through the drain line. To treat, you’ll need to pour 3-4 oz of Survivors down the drain once a week. This takes away their food. And then 1-2 a week you’ll need to spray down the drain with PT-Cykick aerosol. This kills the one coming up and can also be used along the baseboards and basically anywhere they’re active.
