Rabbit fur mites (also known as Cheyletiella mites) are known to infest rabbits along with cats and dogs. They thrive in hay, around the home and eventually inside living areas. We have a couple of treatments that will be safe enough to use in their pens, even on the hay they eat.
BEST MITE SPRAY FOR HAY, GRASS OR OTHER PET FOOD
MULTIPURPOSE INSECT KILLER would be the “organic” solution to treat the hay they eat.
It will kill the mites on contact and has just one day to harvest. So, if you want the “safest” option, this will do the job for where they live and even what they’re eating. Use it weekly to keep them under control by adding 5 oz to a gallon of water and spraying the gallon over 500 sq/ft of surface area.
If you keep the pet inside or have found a problem develop in the home from someone carrying the mites onto carpets or furniture, BITHOR SC would be your best option.
Odorless and labeled for use on carpeting and furniture, Bithor is quick acting and non-repelling, so the mites won’t relocate.

Treat every two weeks until they’re gone; it usually requires 3 treatments so one month of applications.
Mix 1 oz of Bithor in a sprayer and use the entire gallon of mixed material for every 1,000 sq/ft.
You’ll need a good PUMP SPRAYER to make the application.
