This morning I found little bugs on my kitchen floor… I first thought they were little flower petals and then I thought maybe cooked rice then I realized it was some sort of bug or worm! What is this?
There are many possibilities. This time of year termites can swarm. They’re black and tiny and though they first emerge with wings, these will drop off and the swarmers can be found walking around the area for awhile before disappearing or dying. More on them can be found here:

Springtails can also emerge in great numbers. They won’t be as mobile compared to termites and many people say they resemble fleas.

Another option might be some type of weevil. These will commonly leave infested food and can be found in great numbers when they migrate from main nest sites.

Other insects that come to mind include ants, clover mites, drugstore beetles and booklice. We have in depth articles on all these pests so if you spend a little time doing some reading, you should be able to figure out what these might be. Additionally, you can email us a decent photo which might help. Pictures must be clear so if these pests are small, it might be hard to get a good image but it can help.
