Is there a device that can be placed in my engine compartment, run off of my car battery and be left there that will keep squirrels from nesting in my engine compartment? If there is a product made for this purpose, how effective is this device?
We carry several “sound repellers” and currently have one perfect for you need. Known as our ENGINE COMPARTMENT RODENT REPELLER, it will keep away small animals like mice, rats, squirrels and chipmunks. Most important, it works. It runs off the cars battery too, just like you need.
Basically you’ll wire it directly to your cars battery for power and since it only draws .6 watts, it won’t drain the battery. The average car battery can power our unit for over a year without needing a charge so as long as you’re using your vehicle once every few months, it will function fine and not impact the car’s battery life in any way.
Our unit features an on/off switch, inline fuse and comes with cable ties so you can secure it to any part of the vehicle where rodents are nesting or chewing. Some people need 2 units so if you’ve had them in the trunk of the car too, plan on placing one there as well.
In most cases, one unit placed in the engine compartment will do the job; just be sure to place it as close to the active areas they’ve been targeting .
