Any suggestions on keeping blind snakes out of my house? They appeared last year about this time and after several weeks vanished. They are now back. I have 2 toddlers and a baby on the way and cannot stand these things! They appear to be coming out from under the baseboards. We have pest control here regularly to treat for bugs, spiders, etc.
Our biggest issue is finding something that our toddlers won’t want to mess with (sticky traps are just asking for little fingers to play with them). We are also looking for a cost effective option as our budget is very tight.
First, if you’re on a tight budget, you should consider doing your own pest control. We sell whatever it is your local pest control service would use and if you would like to save the bulk of that cost, get our products (after you read our article so you know what’s involved) and we assure you the effort will pay off immensely. We have a good post on this along with video support for doing this work on a regular basis here: GOOD BUGSPRAY FOR DOING PEST CONTROL AROUND THE HOME
Second, controlling the blind snake problem is tricky since the spray and powder are for outside use only.
First, get some BLACK SNAKE SULFUR applied around the homes exterior.
Next, spray PEST AWAY on the foundation and any crack or crevice where you think they might be living.
Pest Away is made with all natural organic essential oils and gets mixed with water. It won’t harm wildlife, insects, birds, pets, etc. but due to it being so concentrated, it makes animals “wary” of treated areas.
The following “short video” (less than 60 seconds long) gives a quick overview of how Pest Away works and how you should apply it around the home.
The feeling of being uneasy and alarmed about the area/treated plants will make them not want to rest where its been applied. This means they’ll likely come out inside but this will allow you to get them removed and with the outside sprayed, you won’t have new ones coming around. This makes Pest Away a great way to naturally chase away unwanted pesky animals and insects.
Our 8 oz jar mixes 2 oz per gallon of water and will treat up to 500 sq/ft of plants when treating for deer control.
Since there isn’t any spray for use inside with Blind Snakes on the label, you could try chasing them out with some FS MP AEROSOL. Its oil based and a great insecticide because it will penetrate where insects like to live. By killing off the insect pests, anything eating them will have to leave to find food. Plus FS MP has an odor the snakes don’t like so they’ll likely not want to stick around where they detect its presence.

We have blind snakes appearing every August/September in one room only which is on an outside wall. We have sealed the baseboard to the drywall and the tile floor, tape around outlets and switch plates. Can they get into the attic and drop down the ceiling vents? How do they gent into the house? Our house is on a slab foundation and has brick exterior. The top of the slab is about 6 inches above grade and their are weep holes about every 10 inches. Can these snakes crawl up the foundation and into the weep holes? This room is a bedroom and my son does not want to sleep in this room. I hope you can give me some suggestions as to how to get rid of them forever.
Thank you for your help.

Tech Support: They can but its not likely. Blind snakes are most comfortable at “ground” level and are most likely entering there.
How do they gent into the house?
Tech Support: Too many options to list frankly. And side note, trying to stop them? It won’t work. You’ll need to treat with our products, all listed above, if you want this invasion to end.

I don’t know if they are blind snakes or black racers…racers are protected here in Florida so we can’t kill them…does this spray kill them?
Tech Support says
Dianne,
So none of the sprays above will kill snakes so no worries there. But are the in the home or outside?
