is seeing increased amount of bugs after spraying normal?

May 1, 2026 By Tech Support Leave a Comment

Our neighbor recommended your website for spray after we saw him treating. He’s got springtails bad and they’re living in his siding. We have the same kind and don’t want them moving to our home so got your maxxthor and sprayed last night. Then this morning we see activity around some of the windows and also at the corner. Is this normal? We didn’t see any until after we sprayed 🙁  Are we too late?? Help!!

So first, most any home has some kind of pest somewhere. When populations are low, you may not notice them. And this can easily happen with pests that live out of sight and hidden. There are many that live their lives well out of site including springtails, clover mites, termites, silverfish and psocids to name a few.

So in your case, it sounds like there were some under the siding but they weren’t actively reproducing so you weren’t noticing them. You see, springtails only come out when reproducing so your population is probably still small in numbers. That said, it would be smart to get the issue addressed now before it gets worse. This will involve treating under the home siding with our POWER INJECTOR; more on that shortly. For now, let’s discuss why these pests started coming out.

So several of our products work quickly meaning they can be a contact killer. Maxxthor is such a product. It’s also highly repelling and tends to bother most any insect. This means if you don’t directly spray them, they could detect enough to force them out of their hiding space. This is surely what has happened at your home. Based on what you described, it’s pretty common to have them get flushed out a day or two after surface spraying.

At this time you can try to reach the ones hiding by spraying again. You didn’t mention what kind of siding you have but if it’s vinyl or aluminum, spraying the Maxxthor with our Hose End Sprayer should trickle underneath to some degree and with any luck, reach them if enough is applied. So if you spray again this evening, lets see if you still find them in the morning. If you do, getting the Power Injector to treat behind the siding would be smart. And keep treating. Eventually the Saturation Coefficient will kick in and help reach them where they are deeply embedded.

We actually have other products that will do this same thing. For example, XEMPT DUST and BITHOR will both flush out insects if you don’t reach them all when first treating. The dust is designed to be used for hidden spaces like behind electric outlets and air vents; the Bithor is for baseboards designed to stop insects from spreading. Bithor has a slight amount of the same ingredient as Maxxthor which will flush insects out so if you surface spray your baseboards and see pests coming out, that would be clue you need to Power Inject there too.

As for the dust; it’s a desiccant and insects will not want to stay where it’s been applied. This leads to them getting displaced; we call this the displacement effect.

Basically the displacement effect happens when you treat and some of the mixture gets very close to nesting pests but doesn’t quite reach them. Eventually (usually within a few hours to a day later) they’ll get irritated enough to where they will start coming out. Take this behavior as a sure sign that something worse is lurking just out of sight and that more attention is needed ASAP.

In summary, it sounds like you need do a little more than just surface spraying with the Maxxthor EC. We recommend getting some of our MAXXTHOR SG to spread around the home along with Power Injecting the siding. With any luck, they haven’t made their way inside just yet and you’ll be able to purge them from your home now, before they get entrenched.
