How do I get rid of maggots in a carpet that came from a trash bag?
During the warm summer months, filth flies will be laying eggs on anything organic. And once just one flies into your home, they will commonly target recycling bins, litter boxes, the sink or any common kitchen garbage bag.
Now once the eggs hatch, migrating maggots will be looking for something to eat. During this time they’ll be foraging out over the floor and if they find even the smallest of crumbs in your carpeting or furniture, they’ll thrive.
To stop them from using these areas for nesting and feeding, you should treat using one of the products listed in our MAGGOT CONTROL article.
For small areas, BEDLAM PLUS aerosol can be applied. This product is easy to use and includes both an adulticide and a growth regulator. Since its premixed, you only have shake the can and spray it out over the areas you need to protect like furniture or carpeting.
For large homes with a lot of square feet to treat, go with the PERMETHRIN 10 and NYLAR mix applied with a PUMP SPRAYER. This will be a lot more economical in the long run compared to the Bedlam. Be sure to cover all carpeting, furniture and baseboards with the mixture and use about 1 gallon of mixed material per 800 sq/ft of floor space.
