We live in a rural area and recently found a dog with mange. The vet says its sarcoptic mange. We’re keeping him outside in the barn but I want to make sure the mange mites don’t spread. What can we spray thats safe enough for use around the horses and in our home? Also, anything for the dog? It has sensitive skin thats healing but we want to wash him.
Mange mites can spread to other animals so treating the barn and home with MAXXTHOR SC would be the best way to prevent ongoing issue. Maxxthor uses a very unique bifenthrin active in that the particle size is the smallest on the market. For most pests, this is not good because the treatment will “drop away” from treated surfaces. For most pests, like ants or roaches, you want the largest particles possible so they will contact it. But with small pests like mange mites, smaller particles are ideal. They will get perform better on the smallest of targets so any mite in fact is best controlled with the Maxxthor SC whether used inside the home or out in the yard.
Maxxthor is odorless and safe enough to be used inside on carpets where people and pets will be active once dry. And it works on many pests including but not limited to fleas, ticks and mosquitoes.
For the barn, mix 1 oz per gallon of water and plan on covering up to 1,000 sq/ft per mixed gallon. For the home, 1 oz per gallon per 1,000 sq/ft. Treat every 2 weeks for 3 treatments and after that, once every 1-2 months to keep all pests under control. Be sure to spray all carpets, baseboards and furniture. And if you keep dogs inside, spray their bedding too.

Eveleyn,
If you’re asking about the pesticide chemicals, probably not. There are some exceptions and there are some work around options that might help you. Look for an email from us for more details; if you don’t get an email, send one inquiring to order@bugspray.com

I spray my home every 3 months, indoors and outside. I use Ortho Home Defense indoors and Ortho Bug Be Gone outdoors including two Dyno Traps for mosquitoes.
I have been doing this for well over 10 + years.
It’s been great, no bugs, spiders and no mosquitoes.
We have 1 indoor/outdoor dog and 2 indoor cats.
We just added 1 rescue kitten, now we have Mange.
What can I use to add to my bug program to manage mange?

Ruben,
If you scroll up, you’ll see we have listed the Maxxthor SC concentrate as the best option to be spraying. Its far superior to any “big box” ready to spray like Ortho. With the Maxxthor, you’ll add 1 oz to a gallon of water and apply it to baseboards too BUT for mange mites, you’ll want to treat carpets and area rugs too. Maxxthor is odorless, fast working and will control all mites and other pests too. In summary, it should be used in place of the Ortho. And since 1 pint will make up to 16 gallons? Its significantly less costly to use too.
