We have multiple species of wooly worms that are invading our back patio every day by the hundreds. How do we repel them? Don’t want to kill them but I’m tired of walking around them and still stepping on a few. We have been sweeping the patio with a broom to remove them.
You have a few options.
The first and what most of our customers use for this pest is to first use a broom or leaf blower to push/blow away as many as possible.
Next, they’ll spray the deck with MAXXTHOR SC. This is a true insecticide and it will definitely kill them if they walk on it for 30 minutes or more but in most cases, they will sense its presence and simply stay off the deck to avoid getting killed. Treatments will last 30 days and 1 gallon of mixed material will cover up to 500 sq/ft.
The next option is to spray the deck with PEST AWAY.
Pest Away is made with essential plant and tree oils that use a very “high” concentration. This is not “natural” in the wild and so they effectively chase away animals and insects from treated surfaces.
Pest Away won’t injure or harm animals or insects but they will notice it and not be comfortable staying where its applied. Basically its high level of natural oils spooks them. This is a natural reaction animals and insects have to many plant and wood oils so they avoid landing on it, eating it, etc.
