PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: “Biological” action in a liquid form which mixes with water to create a “slurry” you pour down the drain. This mixture breaks down organic matter like the food that adheres to your “sinkerator”, bends and elbows in drain lines, etc.
Enz A Back won’t hurt metal, plastic or PVC pipe and only interacts with food, excrement, hair and paper products. Essentially its taking away the breeding ground for many insects that may use drain pipes like drain flies, fungus flies, phorid flies but also springtails, ants, psocids, book lice, crickets, roaches and more.
This short video (less than 60 seconds long) explains how to use our No Survivors and how easily it is to apply weekly:
WHERE TO USE IT: Drain lines from the kitchen sink, bathroom sink, showers, tubs and food disposals.
PRODUCT DOCUMENTS: MSDS
RATE OF APPLICATION: 2-4 ounces per drain per week until the problem subsides. Treat late at night, just before retiring, and allow the treatment to sit in the drain as long as possible before running the water again.
To treat is easy. Get a glass or measuring cup with 16 oz of warm water. Add 2 oz of Enz A Bac to the water and stir for 10 seconds. Now pour the mixture down the drain and let it sit for at least 6 hours. Do this once a week on schedule throughout the year. If you don’t want to treat the whole year, organic matter will build back up so keep this in mind.
The MIXTURE RATE of 2-4 oz should vary depending on when you’re treating. So for example, when you first start treatments and have active pests, use 4 oz with 32 oz of warm water once a week. Once sink pests are eliminated, usually after 3-4 weeks, you can scale treatments back to 2 oz with 16 oz of warm water per week. And if you used throughout the entire year, you can keep on the 2 oz per treatment once a week indefinitely.
** USE IN CONJUNCTION WITH LEMON AIR WHEN YOU HAVE ACTIVE PESTS **
If insects are active, use LEMON AIR INSECTICIDE DOWN THE DRAIN as needed. It will kill active pests and can be used 1-3 times a week as needed till you don’t see anymore activity in the sink.

Is this safe to use in septic tanks because I have the springtails coming up in the master bathtub and I have a septic tank.
admin says
Amanda,
Absolutely yes. In fact Survivors will generally help most any septic system by helping to clean out organic waste buildup which can cause the system to stall, clog and back up.
Also, remember the Lemon Air should be used at the same time as the Survivors for the best long term control of springtails.

Do I use the survivors before the lemon air or after? Thanks.
Jonathan says
Gerardo,
Ideally use them on different nights. This way they each can have a good night to do their job. So first, say on a Friday night, you should apply 2-4 oz of Enz a Bac down affected drains. Do this just before retiring and after the sink is done being used for the night. This will allow the treatment to settle down and work for several hours before the sink is used again.
Next, on Saturday or Sunday evening, treat with Lemon Air. Again, this should be done late at night, just prior to retiring for the evening, so the treatment can have several hours to work before the sink is used again. Use Lemon Air on any night you don’t use Enz a Bac.

Hello – We have Survivors and many of your products. Is Survivors safe to use in an older basement floor drain? We are battling these suckers and I think this is their last place of moisture in the house. There is a large stone on top of the drain holding the dehumidifier and water softener hoses in it. They seem to be on this stone. I just found 15 or so of them. Thanks in advance!
Tech Support says
Kelly,
Yes, Survivors will be fine to use down this drain. In fact it has chemical or corrosive qualities so it won’t hurt or react with metal, plastic, etc. Be sure to supplement the application with Lemon Air down the drain too for quick control of any adults you see with the Survivors providing the long term control by taking away their food and nest site.

I thought the bugs we have were fruit flies but after reading the article I got this link from I now believe they are springtails. The question I have though is what products do I need to treat our garbage disposal? My guess is from reading the article is that they’re living in the sludge that builds up inside it, but now I also noticed them coming up out of our bathroom sink. The building we live in was built in 1953.
Tech Support says
Amanda,
Go with the Enz a Bac above. It will definitely help by removing the sludge and slime buildup where insects like springtails can live. We also recommend treating with Lemon Air down the drain any night you’re not using this product.

Springtail Relief! I’ve been fighting a Springtail infestation in my home for the past several months. I have a Pest Control company come and spray the house inside and out 6x/yr and they came in and dumped “stuff” down the drain and sprayed for Springtails but nothing offered any relief. I bought enz a bck and Lemon Air Treatment, used them all 3 times exactly how the website indicated and I noticed an immediate improvement. With continued use, I no longer have an issue in 2-3 of my bathrooms. And I envision the Springtails in my remaining bathroom will be eradicated with a little more time. I am really impressed with these products and will continue using them. Gonna get the FS MP next.

I have phorid flies in my house. I do not know where they’re coming from. I recently got new Plumbing so I don’t believe I have a leaking pipe. I have never seen them come out of any of my drains.. I do have a septic which I had emptied in May of 2016. The home is a mobile home put on the property in 1994. I just moved there in May. So I do not know if this problem was already there before I moved in. I do recall seeing maybe one or two random bugs but I thought they were nuts and it was at the opposite end of the house which they are not at the opposite end of the house anymore. I have looked everywhere inside my house for these bugs. They appear but I cannot find out where they are breeding period. Please help as I am desperate. I have noticed them in 1 bathroom for the most part and also flying around my kitchen and dining room area. But I also see random flies in a few other rooms. But not as many as I have seen in one bathroom and it seems my kitchen. I am so frustrated and I do not know how to get rid of these.
Tech Support says
Vanessa,
If you read our Phorid control article, you’ll see that yes, Survivors can help for drain line issues. But based on your account of the problem, I suggest going with the Aerosol Machines. If you set these up throughout the home, it will effectively kill all flying pests and this will eventually break the life cycle. Generally this takes at least 2 weeks but for problems like yours that are distributed throughout the entire home, this is the best way to proceed.

Great Effective Product! I have been a commercial drain product user for years and recently discovered Survivors drain treatment. It is great to treat sinks and toilets in spare rooms that you might not use frequently. We had mites coming up through our pipes and this fixed the issue after about 3-5 days and doing two overnight treatments like the instructions say. I am a fan and will continue to buy this product instead of the overpriced Drano chemicals I have been using in the past.

I’ll see one springtail in my kitchen sink occasionally but there’s a window above it. Same with my bathroom tub. I’ll see one or two but there’s also a window next to my tub and also occasionally one in the bathroom sink. I’m thinking they are coming from window but not sure if they were coming from drain wouldn’t I see a lot more ??
Tech Support says
Nikki,
Your observations point out what our article on springtails explains. Basically springtails will try to exist everywhere. And as they move about migrating onto and into structures, most die. But some will live and be visible. In homes where 1-2 are seen, most people never notice so they don’t even know (or care) about their presence. But seeing 1-2 means there is a chance the problem will get worse so if you want to avoid the issues most of our customer have, treating down the drain with Enz a Bac and Lemon Air would be the smart way to proceed.
More information on this pest can be found here:
Springtails: http://www.bugspray.com/article/springtail.html
As you’ll read in the article above, treating the drain with Enz a Bac (seen above) will provide long term protection but the Lemon Air should also be used to kill off any active ones you see now.

Great customer service! The products seem to be working but I have yet to see if it will really take care of the crickets in the drain. So far so good. However, why I chose to write a review was the lovely customer service agent who helped me. I apparently used the Lemon Air incorrectly. She kindly directed me to a link with a video showing how to mix it up and its really easy. She really took time to research it and sent this in a second communication. Great customer service. The product works, just having to keep using it right now, so not sure how permanent it is or whether I just have a huge problem. But I am optimistic!

Which products would work best for crickets coming up through my tub drain? How often should they be applied? Also, should I treat the line coming to my washer and will I need to treat the bathroom drains on the 2nd floor as well? I am on a lagoon and home is built with a small crawl space foundation. Should I expect this to be a continual problem?
Tech Support says
Karen,
Did you see our online post for this problem? It details the process and the two products you’ll need. It can read on our site here:
https://bugspray.com/crickets-coming-up-drain.html
In the post, you’ll learn you need to pour 2-4 oz of Survivors down the drain once a week for one month and then at least twice a week, treat with Lemon Air. This will kill the ones nesting in the drain and the Enz a bac will take away the food they’re using which tends to build up in drain lines.
Order the Enz a bac above and the Lemon Air here:
Lemon Air Down the Drain Insecticide: https://bugspray.com/sanitizer/liquid/down-drain-insecticide
As for other sinks in the home; it would be wise to treat them all at least once even if they haven’t shown activity. This will ensure the problem doesn’t spread. Lastly, we have found that our customers who get this problem have a tendency to see it resurface 1-2 a year if they stop treating it after a month.

I purchased this product along with the Lemon Air hoping to not only clear out crickets we were dealing with but also to remove as much hair and debris as we could from the pipes to eliminate as much of their food source as possible. The Enz a Bac has done just that. Thanks BugSpray.com for the great products.

Hello — Can Survivors be used in a sump pump pit area? We need to treat the area for springtails and aren’t sure what to use. Thanks.
Tech Support says
It can. But remember, Enz a Bac is more for “wet” or damp areas, like down any common sink drain, where pests like springtails are able to find food. So for most french drains, the important area will be in the main holding tank, where the water collects and the ” sump pump” extracts it the water.
So the main drain lines, the pipes that collect the water, you should only treat them with Lemon Air if they’re dry. But if they’re wet, like holding water most of the time, then sure, use the Lemon Air too. But for most situations, the Lemon Air will be needed along with the Enz a Bac so its not common to only need one.

Just when I’d given up hope…
I wanted to take a moment to THANK YOU for giving me the power and understanding to fight this springtail infestation that was driving me to the point of almost hating the home that I so dearly love.
I initially made a few purchases of just the Lemon Air and treating my kitchen sink drains daily. That worked for about a year, no more in the sinks until about 4 months and then they started showing up everywhere else.
I finally revisited your site and took my time to read all about springtails. I embraced that I needed to expand my treatment efforts further. I treated the perimeter of my home’s foundation, mulch and siding with the granules and spray. I then treated my kitchen drains and the drains directly above the kitchen in my master bath with the Enz a Bac treatment and Lemon Air for 72 hours. I have not seen one springtail since the treatment and I just did a repeat on the outside treatment this past Sunday and will do the drain treatment overnight once monthly.
I love my home again!

My exterminator said that bugs could not come from drain pipes, but they do; mostly springtails and flies, but I have seen larger bugs come out of there. I tried insecticides, but this product is more efficient. You have to use it every few days, but it does work.

I always purchase a small container and a large container of Survivors. After the winter there is an infestation of drain flies. Only Survivors tends to do the trick at getting rid of them. By pouring the large gallon into the quart it makes it easier not to waste.

Best Product Ever! Ordered the survivors Drain Liquid for a springtail issue we have In our home. By the time we noticed an issue they were in our kitchen sink bathroom sinks bathtubs. Did some research found out this was the best product. Ordered 1 gallon along with another recommended Lemon Air. Worked like a charm the springtails were gone after 4 weeks. We were amazed. Ordered another gallon for future outbreaks.
Only thing I didn’t like is the shipping but it’s worth it. Amazing Amazing

I have cave crickets coming out of my drain. Will this help?
Tech Support says
Lauren,
It will but you need to use it along with the Lemon Air. Use the Enz a Bac once a week and the aerosol at least twice a week. Generally after 7 days, at least two treatments of each, the problem will be one. Keep using them once a month to make sure the crickets (or any other bug) doesn’t come back.

Two years ago, I started having issues with baby crickets appearing in my shower in the spring. I fired my pest control company because, not only were they not able to treat the problem but, they had no idea how to.
I started using this product in conjunction with Lemon Air Plus, a year ago, for treating my shower drain. It takes about a month, from initial siting of a cricket to eradicate the problem.
I highly recommend this product especially in conjunction with Lemon Air Plus. It works great and both products have a pleasant, non-poison, odor.
Linda Ellison says
FINALLY! Two different pest control companies could not get the springtails eliminated. I highly recommend the two products offered. It is easy to do, the insects were reduced immediately, and it has been more than two weeks since I’ve seen any. I plan to keep treating another month to get anything left to come back. So very pleased with these products and the results. Thanks!
Stef says
Hi! I just want to make sure I’m understanding this correctly, do I add 2 to 4 ounces to 16 ounces of warm water? And then pour it down the drain? And does the drain have to be dry before using this? Thanks so much.
Tech Support says
Stef,
Great question! We noticed our directions (above) weren’t precise so they’ve been edited accordingly thanks to your question!!
So if you read above now, it should be more clear how to proceed. Basically if you have pests active, use 4 oz with 32 oz of warm water for 2-4 weeks until the pests are gone. Once a week is plenty for this product but if you’re using the Lemon Air too for active pests, use that as needed on any other night when you’re NOT using this product.
Now once there is no insect activity, you can scale back to 2 oz with 16 oz of warm water once a week for “maintenance” to insure the drain lines keep clean.
Hope this helps!
