I’m about to put out your granules and some spray but I want to cut my grass too. It’s super long in some areas and I just got my mower fixed. Do I treat first and then mow my lawn? I saw on your site that it says to treat in the evening if possible and that’s usually when I like to mow but I can cut this morning and treat tonight if that’s better. Thanks!
Always mow first. Mowing isn’t important meaning you don’t “have” to mow to treat. But if you were planning on mowing within 1-2 days, mow first. This will help a couple of ways.
First, the granules will stay where you apply them and not get moved around by the mowing. Using a bag to collect your clippings will suck up some of the granules for sure and this would be wasteful.
Second, if you spray grass you’re about to remove, you’ll be wasting a good bit of your liquid treatment. To maximize that benefit, spray after the grass is cut so what’s left is being properly protected.
Lastly, you should most definitely treat in the evening and then water the treatment in if you don’t anticipate rain for awhile. Now if it’s supposed to rain in the next day or two or three? Great. Rain will help as explained in our article here:
HOW DOES RAIN AND THE SUN AFFECT YOUR TREATMENTS? WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SPRAY?
