I sprayed under our baseboards for drugstore beetles and the fs mp odor is lingering. Its been a day now and we are running the ac here since its been so hot. Do I need to be concerned about the odor? There were tons of dead bugs after we sprayed and nothing since so maybe I can wash the area to reduce the smell? We used the whole can in two rooms spraying under there. Each room was about 15 x20 feet wide with carpets.
We also sprayed with maxxthor sc on the carpets and some of the spray got on the baseboards. We can see some white residual and we hope it didn’t stain. We were able to wipe it away but should we let it sit till we know the bugs are all gone?
When used properly, there shouldn’t be any lingering odor from FS MP. It doesn’t take much to kill any insect (1 second of spray for every 3 feet is plenty), so based on how many seconds come out of any can and how big those rooms are, you definitely over applied. If that happens, it’s likely you’ll have a persistent odor for a bit.
Now based on where you sprayed, you have a couple of options to reduce/eliminate it.
First, use a damp paper towel to remove any excess by wiping it all down. Give it 4 hours to dry and if that doesn’t help much, do it again with some dish detergent and water. Next, use a blow dryer or heat gun to dry the area and help “burn” away any lingering FS MP.
If that doesn’t help, consider getting our T.O.N. Using a spray bottle, you should be able to direct the spray under the baseboards. If you still smell something after a full 24 hours, consider getting our POWER INJECTOR to apply the T.O.N. It will definitely eliminate the smell.
As for the Maxxthor over spray; SC formulations use encapsulated ingredients which can leave a visual residue if over applied. They won’t stain and should be able to remove with some elbow grease and paper towels as mentioned above. Moving forward, plan on using a fine mist nozzle setting on your sprayer or better yet, get our MINI MISTER or POWER INJECTOR.
The Power Injector will allow you to treat where it most matter without over spraying and so little to no odor will occur.
In fact we have very few products that leave a residue or create any smell but with some, over applying can lead to both. In all cases, there is no need to be using that much to where either should happen.
