This bird is making holes in my external wall. I would like to know more about it and what I can do to stop it.
It looks like a nuthatch to me. We have them feeding at our bird feeder all the time. They don’t perch on horizontal branches like most birds but prefer to walk up and down the trunk of the tree where we placed our feeder.
Over the years we’ve had customers report them walking and in some cases nesting on the side of their homes. So if I was to guess, I’d wager a bet its in the nuthatch family.
The good news is the activity will be easy to stop. Simply install one of our BIRD FLASHERS just above the hole and this will cause the bird to leave for good.
Now if you install the spider and he moves to another part of the home or if you start getting random instances of birds doing damage in other areas, install a SOUND REPELLER. These units can be mounted on the ground pointed up at the area where the birds are active. The sound can be set to where people don’t hear it, just the birds, and they’ll stay away. Plan on running it “always on” for 2 weeks until the bird leaves. After that, you can rely on the “motion sensor” to activate it.
