Hello!
My husband and I recently moved into a home and are dealing with a springtail problem. At this point I’ve done relatively exhaustive treatments inside and outside with dust, aerosols, granules, etc. and my sticky traps (which are everywhere) counts are dropping daily. Last night, five days post dusting baseboards, I caught 16 in 24 hours and saw no live ones. This is down from trap counts of 20 something the day before and 50 something the day before that. I’m not seeing many on the house siding outside (maybe one or two on the whole house at night). What I’m wondering is if I should invest in the power injector even though I’m seeing success with dust and aerosols? If so, is using Maxxthor or Bithor a better move for under baseboards and possibly in the crawlspace? Or is dusting the crawlspace the best move. We’ve been at this for 4 and half weeks as it took us a bit to wrap our heads around the problem between trips, and I’m so over living with these bugs! Any suggestions would be super appreciated!
So first, any good aerosol or dust will easily kill a springtail so if you have treated your baseboards and still have them coming out? It means you have not reached where they are living. This is a common problem with both dust and any “off the shelf” aerosol and why we developed the POWER INJECTOR. It’s now been in the field for 6 months and the results are amazing. We have countless customers thanking us for helping them finally get rid of their pest issues for good. Essentially the Power Injector allows you to reach remote nests and pest populations previously not reachable. This means you can deliver the best chemicals where it will help the most and in turn, eradicate pests for good.
Check the product page, watch the video and learn how it can solve your issue permanently. Springtails will nest any they find wood or cement and if you don’t reach these locations with your treatments, you will keep seeing them coming out during their REPRODUCTIVE SEASON (spring-summer-fall).
Second, all you need to solve any infestation is the GRANULES, MAXXTHOR EC and our BITHOR (if you get the Power Injector). This is covered in detail here:
what do you recommend for springtails and how much should I get?
So for under the BASEBOARDS, Power Injecting is the way to go.
BEST WAY TO TREAT A BASEBOARD AND WALL VOID FOR INSECT PESTS
As for your HOUSE SIDING, we always recommend Power Injecting to start and to eliminate them and then if you want, dust. This is covered in great detail here:

Lastly, crawl spaces can be easy or hard. If they’re uninsulated, all you need to do is surface spray them with BITHOR and you’ll have a place a treatment that will last many months and control any pest.
But if it’s lined with insulation? You could have a challenge. Pests can thrive behind the insulation, usually where it meets any wood sub-flooring or sill plate, and getting any liquid or dust to reach that point is near to impossible unless you pull back the insulation. And if you were to make the effort to get this done, we would recommend treating with Bithor or MAXXTHOR SC before covering it back up so the treatment will prevent future issues for years to come.
