Hi,
I want to eliminate lizards in my home. Please help.
admin says
This is an easy one. If you review our Lizard Control article, you’ll see we have several products that can be used. Here’s a brief summary of what would work best for your situation.
For inside the home, set out Lizard Traps. These should be placed along the baseboards in any room where you see them active. You can also place traps on window sills, counter tops, etc. Basically anywhere you see unwanted activity.
Next, sprinkle Pest Rid Granules around the perimeter of the home. Generally there will be 1-2 sides of the home that are really important where you should focus the application but it could be a problem on all sides. Granules can also be applied to outside window sills and ledges.
Lastly, spray the exterior of the home, along with the ground where you think they might be nesting or active, with Pest Rid Spray. The spray should also be applied over the granules.
Pest Rid Granules and Spray will last a good 2-4 weeks or longer and will do a great job of chasing lizards away.

Hi, I would like to eliminate noseeums on my deck and screened in porch. Can you help? Thanks!
admin says
We definitely can help. And we have a lot of options. To start, it would be best if you review our online article so you can get an idea of the various treatments available.
No doubt the best approach is to fog the yard and inside the porch (assuming you have screens on the porch which are allowing the noseeums to get inside). The chemical options are listed in our article along with several machines that work great. Just be sure to get a machine large enough to handle the size of your property and you’ll be able to get rid them and keep them away as well.

We operate a golf course in New Mexico beside Ute Lake. We have a considerable problem with horse flies, mosquitos and other biting flies. What is our best option to offer our golfers? We have thought about electronic repellents for our golf carts, but not sure how effective they are?
admin says
Don’t waste your time or money on any kind of “electronic repeller”. Simply put, they don’t work. To get control of your problem, you’ll need to fog the common areas your visitors use on a regular basis.
This means treating these areas during the month. So you shouldn’t think about treating everything all at once but instead doing some fogging every day or every couple of days and when you fog, doing small sections. This can be done super early in the morning or later in the day, after dinner.
This way over the course of several weeks, the property will have a treatment put in place that can control all the flying pests you might have like gnats, biting flies, horse flies, mosquitoes, noseeums and more.
Now to see all the machines and chemicals we offer, review our online articles which cover all options in great detail. Here are links:
Horse Flies: http://bugspray.com/horse-fly-control.html
Mosquito Control: http://bugspray.com/articles98/mosquito.html
Noseeums: http://www.bugspray.com/article/sandflies.html
Now the two biggest machines we list in our articles are both portable and no doubt one or the other would be needed for your property. One uses water as a carrier for the concentrate and the other is a true “hot fogger”. They can be seen here:
Mist Blower: https://bugspray.com/equipment/foggers/solo-mistblower-backpack
Golden Eagle: https://bugspray.com/equipment/foggers/golden-eagle-hot-fogger
The Mist Blower has a big tank and is no doubt the easier option. You can use a fogging concentrate like Essentria IC or Perm 10 to fog. Since its water based, mixing up solution is easy and relatively inexpensive.
Essentria IC3: https://bugspray.com/exempt/liquid/eco-excempt-gal
Permethrin 10: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/liquid/permethrin-10
The Hot Fogger will require deodorized oil in its tank which you’ll have to purchase separately. No doubt this option is more costly initially. But because you’ll need less chemical to treat the same area (around 20-40% less), hot foggers are a good option for large properties as well. You can use the Essentria IC as the active you fog (a good option if you have a lot of standing water, rivers or lakes) but if the property is mostly open and dry, Cirrus would be the better concentrate to use.

We have bats urinating and pooping down the wall of our log house. We have eliminated all places for them to make nests, but they still attach themselves to the top of the logs and mess up the logs all the way down. Any ideas or products that would solve our problem?
admin says
Jean,
This is an easy one. Basically the bats are using your home as a “rest” area when feeding. So after collecting a good dinner, they’re landing on the logs which no doubt provide a secure surface. And once on your logs, they’ll stay there until rested and ready to go about with their evening hunt for food.
To stop them, you have a two options. In some cases, spraying Pest Rid on the logs will chase them away. This liquid repellent is made with food grade actives and certain animals like bats don’t like it. The treatment won’t hurt any insect or animal but it does repel them. Renew applications every 2 weeks to make sure they don’t come back.
Pest Rid Spray: https://bugspray.com/exempt/liquid/pest-rid-exempt-liquid-repellent
Oh, and you’ll need a good pump sprayer to get the material applied. This one can reach 15 feet or more:
Solo 454 Sprayer: https://bugspray.com/equipment/sprayers/solo-1-gallon-sprayer
Secondly, you should also consider installing Yard Gards pointed up at the locations where you have seen or suspect they may be landing. These devices send out ultra high frequency sounds bats don’t like and they will typically avoid where the sound is heard.
Now I can’t say how many of these you’ll need but if you send pictures of your home, I’ll be able to clearly advise. We find most homes will have 1-2 roost sites and will need 1-2 units. But if the bats are active on all 4 sides, protecting each side would be required and no doubt this means you’ll have to install at least 4 units.
These units should be configured to run on their “always on” setting and though you could leave them on during the day, its probably not needed. At least in most cases. So for sure you’ll need them on at night if thats when the bats are active but if you wish to keep the repellers on a timer that shuts them off during the day, that should be fine.
Just be sure the setting on each unit is for “always on”. That means you’ll have to power them using the included AC adapter (which needs to be plugged in for power).
Lastly, keep them running for 2 weeks straight to chase the bats away and after that, use them every 1-2 weeks a month to make sure they don’t come back.
Yard Guard: https://bugspray.com/deterrents/sound/usd-animal-repeller-with-wireless-remote
In summary, the Pest Rid spray will usually be enough to chase them away as long as you keep spraying during their active season. But for added protection, installing Yard Gards will no doubt help.
