DELUXE SOLAR POWERED MOLE VOLE GOPHER SNAKE LIZARD CRAYFISH REPELLER

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:    Solar powered pest repeller that incorporates several features making it unique and different from every other unit on the market.

These features enable the repeller to work on a range of nuisance pests commonly found in the yard including the following:

  • CHIPMUNKS
  • CRAYFISH
  • FROGS
  • GOPHERS
  • GROUND SQUIRRELS
  • IGUANA
  • LIZARDS
  • MOLES
  • PRAIRIE DOGS
  • SHREWS
  • SNAKES
  • VOLES

First, it does the standard silent “vibrating” mole repellers are known to produce. But what separates our model from all others are two more components.

The second is the regular release of both audible and ultrasonic sounds detectable by small animals like gophers, voles, ground squirrels, snakes and even Bufo Frogs. These animals will hear our unit from afar and they will not like the sound.

The audible sound is essentially a rattle, much like a babies rattle that is quickly rattled for a few seconds. The ultra sound is sent through any tunnels close by. The ultra sound doesn’t travel far so will only help when units are placed on dens or structured tunnels. This is done when trying to “expel” nesting rodents as detailed in our online articles.

SUPPORTING VIDEO:

This first video is super short (less than 60 seconds) but gives a good overview of how the unit works:

YouTube video

This second video is much longer but much more in depth. Watch this one if you still have any questions before contacting us:

YouTube video

SELF CHARGING:  These units have self charging solar panels with replaceable rechargeable batteries and will require a good 1-2 days of charging prior to installation. Be sure to keep them at a sunny window as detailed in our video below. Batteries will last 1-2 yrs at least and can be replaced when worn down.

HOW TO INSTALL:  The best way to get these in the ground is using our EARTH AUGER. It will drill the perfect hole for the stakes to fit snug and to the proper depth.

This short video (less than 60 seconds) explains how the Earth Auger works and we strongly suggest using one to get the repeller properly fitted in the ground.

YouTube video

WHEN TO INSTALL:  Generally after “gassing” any tunnels or dens using our GIANT DESTROYERS. The combination of the gas fumigant in the tunnels along with these constantly going off insures the surrounding area won’t be targeted again by nuisance wildlife.

SETTINGS:  These units have three settings. When first turned on, all 3 options will be heard. When the on/off button is clicked again, only the vibration will occur and if clicked again, only the sound/ultrasound will be active. Disconnect the USB cable from the base unit to “start over” if you set them up and are unable to get the setting you desire.

LED Light Socket

Lastly, there are small LED lights that glow on the bottom side of the controller head. These lights add an extra “scary” look to any small ground dwelling animal like mice, rats, snakes and more. These lights come on at night and run for about 4 hours. They’re subtle in the landscape so really only impact small ground dwelling animals. From the ground, these lights look like a predator or some other danger.

SUPPORTING VIDEO – HOW TO RESET UNIT IF IT “LOCKS” UP AND WON’T TURN ON:

YouTube video

REPELLER DESIGN:    Each repeller is made with a sturdy body topped with a heavy gauge plastic/waterproof head. This head is the unit’s controller featuring a built in solar panel and solid state motherboard. The head section must be a full 1 inch above ground to prevent moisture related issues so be sure not to install them too deep and be aware they may sink over time, especially when used in loamy or soft soil. Units are fully warrantied for 6 months.

Ni-MH AA800 mAh 1.2V

Units will work right out of the box but we suggest you let them sit in the sun for at least 2 days prior to installation. The head unit comes detached from the ground stake body so they can be laid on a window sill to collect sun easily before placing them in the yard. This will allow them to fully charge so when they’re deployed, they’ll have plenty of power to drive away nuisance animals immediately. The on board battery (a replaceable Ni-MH AA800 mAh 1.2V) will last 2+ days with no sun so if units slow or turn off, you’ll need a strong day of sunlight to get them active again but they will power back up eventually. The on board battery has an expected life of 1.5-3 yrs.

The included rechargeable battery will last for several years but can be replaced when it will no longer stay charged. We sell these separately (see below).

TARGET PESTS:    BUFO TOADS     CHIPMUNKS     CRAYFISH    GOPHERS        GROUND SQUIRRELS        MOLES        PRAIRIE DOGS       SNAKES      VOLES

HOW TO INSTALL REPELLERS IN THE YARD:     Once the Controller Heads are charged, repellers are ready to be deployed.

Place repellers in the ground deep enough to bury all but 1-2″ of the stake. This will keep the head unit off the ground and away from water.

$20.00 (288251)

To properly install units, its advised you first use a SOIL AUGER to drill holes in the ground. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUSH THE REPELLER IN THE GROUND! These units are strong but not designed to handle extreme downward force.

HOW TO CONNECT CONTROLLER HEAD TO STAKE:  The controller head has a power cord and quick USB coupler for easy connection.

WHERE TO INSTALL REPELLERS:    Repellers can be used directly in mounds and dens of active animals or they can be set along property borders to keep animals from entering. When trying to repel active nesting animals, its suggested you place units in the middle of their den tunnels and let the unit go to work for at least one week before deploying more units along property borders. This will allow nesting animals an escape route and not keep them “trapped” on your land in between two units.

TARGET ANIMALS:   Since these units incorporate audible sound, ultra sound, vibration and light to repel pests, they can be used to chase away a range of animals including but not limited to moles, voles, gophers, prairie dogs, ground squirrels, chipmunks, snakes, lizards, iguana and toxic Bufo Cane toads.

RATE OF APPLICATION: Each repeller can cover up to 6,500 sq/ft (approximately 1/6 acre) but this will depend largely on the soil type where they reside. Soft loamy, sandy soil won’t transmit the sound waves as well compared to hard pan or clay. Obstructions like cement driveways and walkways will also take away from the effective coverage area and should be noted. So for soft sandy shoreline soil types, plan on getting 4,000-5,000 sq/ft of coverage per unit. For hard pan or dry clay soil regions, coverage can be 6,500-7,500 sq/ft.

When setting units out along property borders, plan on placing units 75 feet apart to ensure a strong “fence” is put in place.

DIRECTIONS:    INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS (.PDF)

** WHEN USING UNITS ON ESTABLISHED GOPHER OR PRAIRIE DOG DENS, ONLY DEPLOY UNITS WHERE ANIMALS ARE ACTIVE. THIS WILL GIVE THEM TIME TO LEAVE THE AREA AND NOT BE TRAPPED BY UNITS AT YOUR LANDS BORDER. ONCE ACTIVE ANIMALS ARE GONE, SET UNITS ALONG PROPERTY LINES WHERE THEY MIGHT ENTER.

I would like to buy these to replay Cane Toads. We have a lake in our back yard that is typical in South Florida, the Cane Toads are huge. We have a yellow lab and GoldenDoodle puppy. We need the toads to keep their distance on a more permanent basis than what the Pest Rid will probably do. I figure I don’t need the Pest Rid if these work as they say they do – do you agree? I have heard stories about Water Moccasin snakes in the area as well, so I’m glad to see it also repels snakes.

Question: How do these affect a dog’s hearing since dogs are more sensitive than humans? Can they hear the sound? Is it harmful to them? Please advise. Thanks.

      K.,

In our experience, using both initially is best if you have an active problem. So plan on setting out Pest Rid Granules with Pest Rid Spray over the top. A week or two later, install the sound repellers. Using both when dealing with an ongoing active problem is best. But if you don’t have the Cane Toads just yet, then you can put off using the Pest Rid to start as the repellers alone should keep them away if installed before the toads are established.

As for the units bothering the pets; this is not going to happen. First, animals who “belong” on the territory won’t mind it and second, the sound is not harmful in the first place. Its more of a warning to an animal who doesn’t belong in an area that they’d better be careful. Snakes will be affected because it will annoy them like other reptiles and amphibians due to their biology. But mammals like dogs are not affected the same way. Now ground dwelling animals like moles, voles, gophers are directly annoyed by the sound since it will be in their living space. And my guess if your dog was living under ground with a unit close by it would be annoying. But for pets living in the home or even in kennels, it won’t bother them.

      Hope this helps.

Do u have anything I can put on my car or spray to keep them away? They have chewed through wires costing very expensive car repairs. If I could kill them all I would. I don’t think coyote urine on my car would be a very nice thing. I also have to worry about what I put in the ground bc of our well water.

      Sandra,

Urine would not be a good option but would work for any small animal like ground squirrels, voles, mice, shrews or rats is our sound repeller. You can read up on it here:

      Sound Repeller: https://bugspray.com/repellents/sound/usd-animal-repeller-wireless-remote-led.html

Set it 5-10 feet in front of or behind the car pointing at it. Keep the unit close to the ground and run it “always on” if possible. The ultra sound will keep away all small animals and will work around the clock.

These Repellers Work!! We purchased the repellers because we had a population of ground squirrels that invaded our yard. The first one was cute, after the whole family showed up….. not so much- they were tunneling everywhere! Since installing the repellers, I am happy to say that they have packed their bags and moved on. We haven’t seen any now in several days. I highly recommend this product.

I have an iguana problem. I have a cinder block solid concrete fence, 6 feet high that surrounds the yard with a locking wooden gate. Not sure how they get in the yard. Some are as long as 6 feet including the tail. Will this help to keep them out of my yard?

      Ana,

It could. In fact we’ve had some customers use them up top of their fence by attaching them with cable ties. They will then vibrate and sound off making their presence felt so anything using the wall won’t like it and typically, they stay off. Now this has been for stockade and cyclone fences, not sure about cement walls. But it could work up there. If not, you’ll need to set up one of our other repellers also featured in our article here:

      https://bugspray.com/iguana-control.html#above-ground-sound-iguana-repeller

As for the ground inside the yard; setting these up around the perimeter should deter them. I’m just not sure it will keep them off the fence.

Do I have to leave my deluxe solar powered vole . . . repeller on at night to repel Wyoming ground squirrels? I would turn it on early each morning. My neighbors open windows are very close & I think the sound will bother them. Thx!

      Catherine,

In general, people leave them on all the time. I have 8 around my property and I can hear them when I get within 10-15 feet. But much past 20 feet and they’re not detectable. Also, you can cycle through the settings to reduce one of the amount of “sound” audible. There is a rattle and a vibration. The rattle tends to be the “louder” sound. If you cycle through the settings, you can stop it so it will only vibrate which is more of a quiet mode.

We have a 3200 s/f fenced back yard, and are considering purchasing the solar power repellers, mainly to fight off bufo toads.

However, we are not sure how many we would need to be effective in our back yard.

    Can you please advise soon?

    Thank you

      Keith,

Our best suggestion is to first treat any “nest” sight with Pest Rid Spray before installing the units. They like to live under rocks, mulch and other ground cover. Get these areas “purged” of frogs and then install the repellers with confidence.

The distance or spacing for repellers should be about 30 feet apart along property borders where frogs might enter.

So if you have a 60 foot wide stretch you want to protect, it would require 3 units. Two at each end and one in the middle, 30 feet away from each end.

Does the DELUXE SOLAR POWERED MOLE VOLE GOPHER SNAKE LIZARD CRAYFISH REPELLER work in sandy soil? I live by a river and the soil is very sandy with lots of underground critters that tear up my yard. I can have a beautiful yard one day and 5 to 10 gopher mounds the next.

Great question. The short answer is yes, but the soft soil may limit the range.

Out west where its dry and arid, you can space units 50 feet apart and get plenty of coverage. Here in the southeast, my units need to be about 30 feet apart. My soil is mostly soft, high quality top soil so not super sandy but soft and “mushy”.

For sandy terrain, I’d say you should plan on units being 20, no more than 25 feet apart and give that a try to start. Once in place, you can space them closer or further apart as needed.

      John,

Maybe. As our online article explains, there are times to use the “above ground” units and then other times when the units above should be used, like if you have active tunnels and burrows. All this is covered in our article here:

      Ground Squirrels: https://www.bugspray.com/article/groundsquirrel.html

Give it a good read and if you still have further questions, email support@bugspray.com for a fast answer.

Seems to work okay for iguanas. For the price, I think this is worth it. I had an iguana attacking my garden and eating my plants, and it was hard to keep it away. Since I have gotten this solar powered repeller, I haven’t had any more problems (knock on wood). The one issue is that the beeping sound it makes is very irritating and loud, and I don’t want to upset the neighbors, so I just have it on the buzzing/vibration setting. But so far, so good.

      Deb,

Really just depends on whether or not you get snow that can bury them. Here in GA, I can leave mine in all year long. But if you get 6″ of snow or more, removing them would be best. Remember, once the ground freezes, local rodents like moles/shrews/voles can’t dig easily so they generally keep quiet and won’t be a problem. The units are weatherproof from rain so snow generally won’t hurt them. But being buried in it for months is not good.

I live in southern West Virginia and have an issue with crawdads, moles, ground squirrels, and snakes. They have been causing my house to sink for years since I live right in front of a small creek (about 25ft from my front porch) and a mountain behind my house, (out 5ft from the house). The crawdads make their homes everywhere around my yard, but my main concern is the holes they make behind the house which they burrow to up under my house where I have a mainly enclosed crawlspace (no basement). I also know there are snakes and ground squirrels living under and around the immediate area of my house.
My question is if I use the giant killer where I can and then install the solar power repellant right next to my house at first, since I can’t put it under the house, will it be effective in staving away the vermin under there? I feel like if I treat the whole area around my house, and not treat UNDER the house, I would essentially be corralling them to stay under there. Or, could I position a repellant on each end of the house and drive them out that way?
I look forward to a possible solution. Even if I can’t get them out from under my house, I will no doubt be purchasing your products as I have quite a bit of land I plan on homesteading in the coming years.

      Julie,

So first, the good news. These units would be well suited for your needs.
Second, your thoughts about “trapping” the animals/critters under the home are valid if you start installing units around the outside of the home. Do you have any idea about how much activity is going on under there?
Ideally, I feel you’ll need to get some of the battery powered units installed in the crawl space first.
Can you tell me if you can get under there at all? Also, what is its dimensions? Like 30×40? 25×50?
Let me know the size of the crawl, if its got activity or not and then I’ll further advise.
The key for these to work will be to install some under there first and then a couple of weeks later, getting the solar powered units installed around the home and eventually moving out further and further so you can “reclaim” that property AND cut down on the sinking issue.

      Laura,

This is a great question. It probably depends on the kind of activity you’ve had the past 1-2 yrs.
      .
So if you are currently not seeing many if any of either, then the ground repellers alone should keep them all away. So to be clear, these will keep out snakes no matter what. But for rodents; if you’ve been fighting them in the home or yard, that would tell me they have established scent trails and the ground stake repellers will not be strong enough to get them off the property. So for ongoing problematic situations, follow our guidelines on this page:
      .
How To Stop Invading Rodents: https://bugspray.com/eliminate-animal-odor-stop-rodents-returning.html

But if you’ve had little or no activity rodent wise, you could “try” the ground stake repellers only and hope they do the job. But to be clear, installing 1-2 of the above ground repellers would be “smart”. These would be best outside in the areas you want to keep rodent free. And of course, any attic space you didn’t want them in as well.
