We’re often asked by customers how to treat air ducts? They’re usually very “certain” they have pests like SPRINGTAILS or SILVERFISH living in the duct but are concerned about spraying a chemical where air will be flowing out.
In fact any pest exiting around air ducts, electric outlets, light switch covers or light fixtures are most likely coming from the wall, attic or ceiling space above. In other words, they’re NOT ACTUALLY IN the air duct or even using it!
In this short video, you’ll get to see how this can happen; basically there is a space between the air duct and the hole for the duct to pump air. This “gap” allows pests to enter your living space.
Common pests that use these “ports” to get into living spaces include CLOVER MITES, ROACHES, ANTS and BOOKLICE.
So for entry points on the wall or floor, the FS MP injected under the covering will work fine and is easy to apply. For ceilings OR if you want a permanent application that will last 1-2 years, use XEMPT DUST.
Xempt D features two qualities that make it more efficient compared to ordinary insecticide dusts.
First, like insecticide dusts, it will agitate insects and force them to leave the dusted area or else they will die. And once they start moving, if they have dust on them they will die by dehydration.
Directly treated pests will succumb to the dust within a day BUT even as the active ingredient wears off in 1-2 months, the remaining base ingredient will keep working by making pests uncomfortable or even killing them. So where ordinary dusts break down after 1-2 months and have no way of impacting pests, Xempt’s base lasts and keeps active by retaining its dehydrating feature.
The second most important part of this feature is that XEMPT D CAN GET WET BUT WILL STILL WORK! This makes it quite unique and why its so well suited for both dry AND moist environments. The only way it won’t keep working is if you have moving water which causes it to wash away. But when left in place? Xempt dust will keep working!
Use a CRUSADER HAND DUSTER as shown in the video to apply the dust.
HOW TO TREAT WALLS AND CEILINGS
But what if you want to treat the walls and ceiling? This can be done and for many pests, required.
The first option is our MULTIPURPOSE AEROSOL. This product is water based and when lightly misted over walls and ceilings, won’t stain like FS MP can if over applied.
The following “short video” (less than 60 seconds long) shows how to use it on walls and ceilings.
Also shown in the video above was BITHOR and our MINI-MISTER. The Mini Mister will pump out a super light aerosol that can be sprayed on walls too so if you have this setup, its more cost effective compared the aerosol.
In either case, both can be used to safely spray walls and ceilings without making a mess.
If you have a lot of wall space to treat, the MINI MISTER with BITHOR will be the way to go.
This short video shows how the Mini Mister works to create a light aerosol.
Using the odorless Bithor, you can safely and effectively treat most anywhere in the home making the Mini Mister a great tool for “in the home” treatments.
