What do you recommend for outdoor use on a small patio for gnats? There are a few potted plants nearby which are on a drip system. Also, a few yards away there are a couple of trees and bushes. I’m guessing a small fogging system may be appropriate. Thanks.
You say this is outside but you didn’t specify any dimensions. Also, you didn’t state if this area has a roof over it or if its wide open and subject to direct weather. These details will factor in big time so without knowing more information, I’ll make two recommendations. The first one will be for a small area that’s somewhat protected. But if the area is large and wide open, you’ll need to go with the second option.
So for a small area, say 20 ft by 20 ft or smaller, you can try using 1-2 of our AEROSOL MACHINES filled with METERED INSECTICIDE. Set them on either side of the patio and programmed to go off once an hour. These machines will run automatically releasing a small blast of pyrethrin which works well on flying insects. The spray should both kill any that are active as well as repel anything that flies so new ones won’t come around. Refills should last at least 30 days but will need to replaced on a regular basis. These machines are battery operated but the batteries should last 8-12 months on average.

Now if the area is larger than 500 sq/ft and you feel you need to treat more of the yard to get control, get a MINI FOGGER and fog every 7-10 days. This machine will easily treat up 5,000 sq/ft and treatments will last 7-10 days when using either ESSENTRIA IC or PERM SFR and NYLAR mixed together. These machines have a small 32 oz holding container and in that tank you’ll want to add either the Essentria or the Perm SFR/Nylar mix.

Permethrin SFR: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/liquid/perm-sfr
Nylar: https://bugspray.com/catalog/insecticide/igr/igr-nylar
Now which of the two chemical options should you use? Either will work but there are subtle differences.
Basically Essentria is an “all natural” super safe active made with food grade actives. It can be used anywhere – even over ponds, lakes and rivers – and for that reason it may be the right choice for your yard.
But if you want the strongest option, the more traditional Perm SFR mixed with the Nylar growth regulator will yield longer lasting results meaning you won’t have to treat nearly as much if you use these actives.
