PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Wheat germ looking granules.
TARGET PESTS: Crickets, roaches, ants and silverfish.
WHERE TO USE IT: Though it can be used both outside and inside, most applications for silverfish should be done in two places; where you see them in living areas and where they are nesting. Nest locations are generally going to be in wall voids and attics. Niban will last long; it remains active for several months so even if all is not eaten initially it will have impact several months down the road if new activity should start.
RATE OF APPLICATION: Use one pound for every 500 sq/ft of surface area. This is needed for attics and crawl spaces. Living areas generally don’t need that much. Use one pound for every 1000 sq/ft of living area.

Will Niban Granule Bait kill or harm chipmunks? I really don’t want to get rid of the chipmunks, which is why I am asking.
Tech Support says
Fillmore,
Niban uses nothing but boric acid for an active which is very safe for use around people, pets and in general, most any mammal including chipmunks. When used properly, it will not pose a hazard to them. And even if they ate some placed in the yard, it wouldn’t be a problem.

Seems to be helping along with Black Flag that I used till I rec’d Niban. Wanted to treat outside but am afraid to open my kitchen door. Would not be so petrified of them if they didn’t jump so damn high. My friend said they are referred to as Sprigets, spider crickets. Worst emotional Summer of my life!

So far so good! I have not really been using this long enough to give a definitive review but I will say that so far results have been promising. I put it out on 12/15. During the first part of December I’d say I was catching about 4-5 crickets a day manually, it was a pain. I hadn’t had a cricket problem last year but I guess the spring/summer 2018 they moved in and became an increasing problem. Sick of catching crickets I ordered this and put it out and left town. Came back yesterday and sighted no crickets. Will have to keep and eye on things and will keep replenishing the poison but it’s looking good so far. I have an unfinished basement where I think they were breeding. The horrible camel/cave crickets, not the chirpy black ones. No other bug issue!

I purchased the Niban product for a problem with cave crickets in the basement of our home. I wanted something effective but not poisonous. This product fits that need very well. There is a noticeable reduction in the amount of these insects in our home already after a two-day trial.
I recommend this product.

Ruth,
Not sure we understand how you “think” its works but we can tell you how it actually works. Its really quite simple.
In this case, if you add 5 tablespoons of the product you want to use and then add water to the sprayer so it fills to the 5 gallon line, when you spray it all out, you will have sprayed 5 gallons of water/chemical. At NO TIME WILL MORE WATER GO INTO THE SPRAYER.
This sprayer works when connected to a hose and as the water passes through the top of the sprayer, the water will siphon out the contents you mixed inside. It does so at the proper rate regardless of how fast or slow you turn on your water pressure so it works the same for every home regardless of water pressure or water flow speed. To check, you can add water to the 5 gallon line, hook it to your hose and spray into 5 gallon buckets. By the time you fill the 4th bucket, the water in the sprayer will be gone.
On a side note, which product of ours would you be using at this rate? 5 Tablespoons is not something we normally recommend; its always in oz per gallon or gallons of water.
On another side note, the 5 tablespoons you mentioned; was that for 1,000 sq/ft? 5,000 sq/ft? This is super important as you must apply the proper amount of chemical over the sq/footage we recommend if you are to get desired results. What most people fail to understand is that as long as you’re doing that, its not important how much water you use. So you can use 1 gallon, 5 gallons 10 gallons or more of water as water is only the carrier. Whats important is the chemical so as along as the right amount is applied over the sq/footage you want to treat, you’ll have results.

Can this be used for silverfish that are usually seen on the ceiling? (And guessing coming from around vents or sprinkler heads). If so, where can I apply? I don’t have access to an attic or crawl space as I rent my condo unit.
Tech Support says
Laura,
We would not recommend baiting unless you had access to the attic and could distribute the bait throughout. Given you’re renting, your best bet would be to treat the air vent as our online post details here:
Air Vent Treatments: https://bugspray.com/vents
As you’ll see in the video, there is a space between the duct and ceiling or wall which pests use to enter living spaces. Get them treated with our Xempt Dust and you’ll keep them out for good.
Xempt Dust: https://bugspray.com/exempt/dust/pest-xempt-dust
We also suggest our Multipurpose Aerosol. Its water based, well suited for ceilings and walls because its odorless and won’t stain and it will control a wide range of pests including silverfish.
