What do you got for vultures? These birds are disgusting. They land on my roof and make a mess. I know they’re protected so I can’t shoot them but I’m getting tired of throwing rocks at them. I’ve tried some type of scare balloon which didn’t work at all. Also an inflatable snake. They do seem to be afraid of people but I’m not home enough to keep them away all the time any suggestions,?
VULTURES CAN BE A BIG PROBLEM
Vultures are an important bird considering all they do. But when they start roosting on or adjacent to our homes and other man-made structures, they usually cause conflict. Most notable is their vomit and their droppings. Vultures naturally vomit most everything they consume which is highly corrosive. And their droppings are generally more repulsive, larger and messier compared to other birds. As a protected species, vultures are afforded a unique shield which prevents direct action from property owners. Fortunately there are some low impact repellents and strategies you can be effectively employ.
BEST VULTURE REPELLENTS
Vultures can be repelled around the home using visual or mechanical devices. We feature a few which can keep them off structures if placed where they like to roost.
Overall, the best visual bird chaser is our SCARE SPIDERS. Birds are naturally afraid of spiders and will avoid them at all costs.
Scare Spiders are rain/sun proof and feature “wire” legs made to bend for secure placements. Just “wrap” the leg around any part of the house you can grab like deck rails, support columns, the hinges on shutters and even roof gutters.
Scare Spiders are available in small, medium and large. For vultures, you’ll need either the medium or large. Measuring 4 feet from leg tip to leg tip, setting 1-2 of these will ward off vultures from afar.
Scare Spiders come with a window mounting suction cup with anchor line strong enough to hold the large 4 footer in place. In general, you should strive to get them on the “top” of homes, decks and trees so vultures can see them from afar.
To back up the Scare Spider, the BIRD FLASHER works hand in hand. Once installed, these will constantly be moving and are both hypnotizing and annoying to roosting vultures. They come with a mounting rod and screw so you can set them up on the home, a tree, a post and more.
Plan on using them where the birds are active and remember, they rely on line of sight.
SOUND REPELLER EFFECTIVE FOR VULTURES
If the vultures are using a large area of the roof or if they’re roosting in trees adjacent to your home, install our ULTRA SOUND AUDIBLE ALARM where they’re active. These devices sends out a stressful range of ultra sounds vultures do not like. They can also send out an audible sound (you control the volume) as well as flash a strong LED light bar. Activated by a motion sensor, these units can protect up to several thousand square feet and will keep vultures away.
Sound Repellers are ideally suited for large open roof tops, power lines and open trees used for perching birds. They will send an ultra sound wave effective up to 75 feet away and their coverage can be up to 5,000 sq/ft.
On the roof, you’ll want to position them in corners facing out over the area you want to protect.
For trees and property borders, mount them on poles point up toward the place where they congregate. Our MOUNTING BLOCKS are well suited for the task allowing for easy installations pointing up anywhere you can place a 1/2″ stake.
Each unit comes with a power supply and remote control wireless “key” so you can disarm the unit as needed or activate it if animals are close by but not close enough to set it off.
These come with a wide range of settings but for vultures, you can set them to be active 24 hours a day and to set off when motion is detected. This means if birds come within 30 feet of the unit on the front side, they’ll be detected so the unit will sound for 20 seconds. Be sure to set the sensitivity to 30 and the audible sound to 60-80. The frequency setting should be right in the middle.
We also feature several accessories for our sound repeller including POWER CORD EXTENDERS (33 FEET AND 66 FEET), CIGARETTE LIGHTER POWER ADAPTER, ALLIGATOR CLIP POWER CORD and AC POWER SUPPLY REPLACEMENTS.

I get up to 30 turkey vultures on my roof. If I care to go outside and yell I can chase them away. But their moving around my roof wakes me up and leaves crap and feathers. I have photos. Help! They are up high.

Craig,
Install 2-3 of our sound repellers detailed above. They’re easy to use and super effective. Be sure to set the Audible sound up to 60-80 and power them with batteries. After 1-2 encounters, they’ll stay away for sure.
