If you want to TAKE YOUR TENNIS GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL AND SAVE $? BUY THE T.B.R. NOW !!
The T.B.R. (Tennis Ball Recharger) will MAKE OLD TENNIS BALLS PLAY LIKE NEW! The T.B.R. can recharge any tennis ball so you can make them bounce as high – OR EVEN HIGHER – compared to new ones.
The T.B.R. is easy to use. Just add tennis balls, seal the lid and charge the tank.
The following video gives a good overview of how it works and shows how “recharged” balls will bounce.
WHY SHOULD YOU INVEST IN THE T.B.R.?
Two reasons.
IT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY! The inventor of the T.B.R. has found the average tennis ball can be used 3-4 times a week for 2-3 hours a session and STILL BE PLAYABLE AFTER 6 MONTHS OF STEADY USE!
ORDER THE PERSONAL T.B.R. NOW (less than 12″ tall, less than 9″ wide and weighs less than 9 lbs when filled with 20 tennis balls)(racquet not included; just there for comparison)
ORDER THE PRO T.B.R. NOW (less than 25″ tall, less than 9″ wide and weighs less than 22 lbs when filled with 70 tennis balls)(Personal TBR Not Included; just there for comparison)
BUT THE SECOND REASON WAS MORE IMPORTANT TO HIM. THE MAIN GOAL WAS TO BECOME A BETTER TENNIS PLAYER!!
The “story” of the T.B.R. is that the inventor started playing tennis at a late age to spend time with his son. He soon became passionate about playing and then started to compete. In 2011, he joined the Atlanta GA Ultimate Tennis League at the 3.0 level. His first couple of years were a struggle but he was determined to “get better”.
Like most club players, he tried different equipment (spent hundreds on racquets), took lessons, hired coaches and even tried online tutoring. For the most part, they would help but nothing was helping him to improve his match day results. Deep down he knew he had a higher ceiling but how could he get that inner player, that higher skill he knew was within reach, to be revealed on match day?
And then in 2014, he had that “moment”. The kind of moment when the “light goes on” and you realize something, something you probably knew all along but never consciously realized just how important that one thing might be.
In this case, it was the realization that HITTING DEAD, MUSHY TENNIS BALLS was NOT HELPING HIS MATCH PLAY! This realization was put into focus when he did the math.
During practice? He could hit 70-80% of his first serves “in the box” with no problem. But in match play? LESS THAN 50%!
And his ground strokes? HE WOULD LOOSE CONFIDENCE WITHIN THE FIRST 2-3 GAMES OF A MATCH!!
So on that faithful day, he went to the practice courts and he tried (in vain) serving with new tennis balls. He quickly noticed he COULD NOT CONSISTENTLY KEEP HIS SERVE IN THE BOX LIKE HE COULD WITH HIS REGULAR PRACTICE BALLS! And that’s when he knew: HE NEEDED TO PRACTICE WITH TENNIS BALLS THAT BOUNCED LIKE NEW ONES!
Could it be it wasn’t just anxiety and nerves causing his poor performance? Was it possible something as simple as the quality of the tennis balls AND NOT THE RACQUET was leading to disappointment on match day?
To find out, he started to use new balls for practice, 2-3 cans a session, and guess what happened? HE LEARNED HOW TO KEEP HIS SERVE IN THE BOX!
And then? HIS GROUND STROKES WERE STAYING INSIDE THE BASELINE! And then?
HE STARTED TO WIN AGAIN!
But there was this extra cost. He was spending over $30 a week on tennis balls and he wanted even more balls to practice with to speed up his progress. BUT THIS COST? IT WAS CRAZY!
This is when he wondered… Is there a way to recharge and recycle a used tennis ball?
He quickly found a few low cost “plastic” recharging options. And he tried all the brands he could find. Some helped a bit but they were clumsy, time consuming or not practical for sustaining a lot of balls. He wanted at least a full TENNIS TUBE of “like new” balls for practice so he decided to build one.
This is when he realized he needed a tank to keep 20-30 balls (or even more) charged and ready to be played.
He then built a range of tanks to accomplish this task and ultimately, HIS EFFORTS HAVE EVOLVED TO BECOME THE T.B.R.!
As for his tennis game? IN THE SUMMER OF 2015, HE WON THE CITY OF ATLANTA’S ULTIMATE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE 3.5 LEVEL!
Then over the next 5 years, he elevated his USTA ranking to 4.0, 4.25 and ultimately to become a solid 4.5 player.
WITHOUT DOUBT, THE PROPERLY FITTED RACQUET AND TECHNIQUE WERE KEY TO HIS SUCCESS AS WELL AS HIS DESIRE TO SUCCEED. BUT ULTIMATELY IT WAS THE USE OF PROPER TENNIS BALLS DURING PRACTICE THAT ALLOWED HIM TO RELEASE HIS INNER TENNIS POTENTIAL!
So if you want to elevate your tennis game and save $ along the way? You need a T.B.R.
THE T.B.R. IS PORTABLE!
The Personal T.B.R. is less than 12″ tall and not even 9″ wide. When filled to the top with 20 tennis balls, it weighs just over 9 lbs! The tank features two rubber, easy to grab handles and can be safely transported to your local tennis courts so you will always have plenty of fresh, high bouncing tennis balls ready to play!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The science behind the T.B.R. is simple.
Essentially the T.B.R. is a holding tank that will “feed” deflated tennis balls air pressure so they get “pumped up” to bounce like new. Tennis balls have porous skin (rubber) and this is why they loose pressure once a can is opened. Storing a “healthy” tennis ball in properly charged T.B.R. tank will “force” air through their skin re-pressurizing the old deflated ball so it can play like new (a “healthy” tennis ball is one that does not have a split in its skin).
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CHARGE TENNIS BALLS?
This will depend on the current pressure of the tennis balls you add to the tank. Balls from a newly opened can used for a few hours will charge overnight. Same with a batch of T.B.R. balls.
But if you have a bag of old tennis balls that have been lying around for months, it will take 5-7 days for them to fully pressurize. Dry rubber (commonly found on tennis balls 3+ years old) will be less porous and so not likely to reach their full potential.
The good news is YOU CAN FIND TENNIS BALLS FOR YOUR T.B.R. AT VIRTUALLY ANY TENNIS COURT!
Tennis balls are considered a “disposable” item and often slightly used balls will be discarded or left behind.
EVERY TENNIS BALL SHOULD BE GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE!
HOW DO YOU PRESSURIZE THE T.B.R.?
Any standard air pump – like one you would use to fill car tires – will work. We offer a portable rechargeable unit that can charge the Personal T.B.R. in a couple of minutes.
WHAT AIR PRESSURE SHOULD YOU CHARGE THE TANK WHEN STORING TENNIS BALLS?
New tennis balls will have around 26-27 lbs of internal pressure.
The average external air pressure is around 14.7 lbs at sea level (less at higher elevations).
To “recharge” completely dead tennis balls, you can charge your T.B.R. to at least 16 lbs and if the ball is in healthy, it will retain the higher air pressure.
SO WHAT’S THE RECOMMENDED AIR PRESSURE TO USE IN THE T.B.R.?
If you have been practicing with dead tennis balls, we suggest you start at 22 PSI and set the tank higher as you adapt to practicing with better bouncing tennis balls.
ADVANCED PLAYERS will typically want to set the T.B.R. at 25 – 26 PSI to start and then “MAYBE” TRYING 27 PSI.
NOTE: SOME PLAYERS LIKE THE HIGHER PSI (27 to 27.5 range) BECAUSE IT’S MORE CHALLENGING TO KEEP THESE “SUPER” BALLS ON THE COURT!
The mindset here is simple: If you can learn how to keep an overcharged tennis ball in play during practice, a NEW BALL WILL BE EASY TO CONTROL ON MATCH DAY!
DOES THE T.B.R. REQUIRE MAINTENANCE?
No. The lid does have a thick replaceable rubber o-ring but these will last 5-10 years if not longer.
The Air Valve (used to fill the tank with air) should last indefinitely as should the Pressure Gauge. Both are available should you loose either.
The Safety Valves should last forever since they’re rated for much higher pressure then what you’ll use.
CAN YOU OVERCHARGE THE TANK AND CAUSE IT TO RUPTURE?
Maybe but it would be difficult. TANKS ARE TESTED AND RATED TO HOLD UP TO 130 PSI SO IT WOULD REQUIRE SUPER HIGH AIR PRESSURE TO OVER CHARGE A TANK. And remember, THERE IS NO REASON TO CHARGE THE T.B.R. OVER 27-28 PSI.
TO INSURE OVER CHARGING WON’T HAPPEN, WE FIT EVERY T.B.R. WITH TWO SAFETY RELEASE VALVES.
The first safety valve has a 35 lb PSI rating and the second one, a 90 lb PSI rating.
In the event that you were to leave a charger unattended, the SAFETY VALVE WOULD RELEASE AIR preventing an overcharge.
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU NEVER LEAVE AN AIR PUMP THAT’S ACTIVELY FILLING THE T.B.R. SO YOU CAN SHUT IT DOWN IN CASE THE PUMP MALFUNCTIONS.
WE ALSO STRONGLY RECOMMEND USING AN PUMP THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO “SET” THE MAXIMUM PSI AT THE RECOMMENDED LEVEL.
WHAT OPTIONS DO YOU OFFER FOR THE TBR?
The T.B.R. has two options.
We have a RECHARGEABLE AIR PUMP. It has a digital readout and allows you to set the PSI at .5 lb increments. This means you can set it to 22.0 lbs or 22.5 lbs, etc. so that when the tank reaches that level the pump will automatically shut down.
We also over the T.B.S. (Tennis Ball Sack). These Neoprene elastic sleeves fit snug on either the Personal or the Pro T.B.R. offering tank protection and added warmth. A T.B.R. tank of tennis balls kept warm will play better when brought to the courts on cold days!
