PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Small cigar sized box that uses sound to repel nuisance animals (listed animals). These units emit an ultra sound (frequencies humans cannot hear and pets won’t mind) by default and audible sounds if desired (you control the audible sounds so they can be turned off or on as needed).
Units can be powered by the included power supply (plugs into the wall and requires less power compared to a mobile phone) or using 4 “C” batteries for use afield where no power is available.
The ultra sound will make them uncomfortable and in most cases, make them want to leave the area. Ultra sound will be sent out anytime the unit is triggered on or if you keep it set to “constantly on”. Use the included power supply if you need to keep them “constantly on”; battery power them for all other applications which is particularly helpful for remote locations. The audible sounds can be turned off or on as needed; they work by “scaring” targeted animal and use a range of sirens, predator sounds and more. These features make this yard gard the most flexible sound repeller on the market today.

HOW IT WORKS: There are three main variables used by the device which will frighten or stress wildlife to keep targeted animals off your land or out of your home. The first is the default “Ultra” sound which people cannot hear. This alone will keep most animals away. But our unit also features a “light bar” that goes off and on which is adds to the “fright factor” when the unit is active. Lastly, the optional “audible” sound mimics a range of predatory animals which is stressful or alarming to most any intruding animal. Combine these mechanisms in a unit that can be configured to fit most any need and you have a powerful pest deterrent designed to handle most any animal when set properly.
We have several options to help provide the best installation for your needs.
POWER CORD EXTENDERS (33 FT and 66 FT): We have two Extension Cords, one 33 feet long and one 66 feet long, which will allow you to extend the length of the power line leading from the AC power supply to the device.
If you plan on using the unit outside and would like to power it by the included AC power supply, DO NOT keep the power supply outside as this will cause it to burn out when subjected to the sun, rain or cold.
** DO NOT USE THE INCLUDED POWER SUPPLY AT THE END OF MORE THAN 10 FEET OF EXTENSION CORD AS THIS WILL CAUSE A CHANGE IN VOLTAGE THAT REACHES THE POWER SUPPLY LEADING TO IT BURNING OUT **
But you can run power cord extensions up to 500 feet to reach the unit. These cables can also be buried as long as you seal the connectors with a waterproof tape or glue (plain silicone will do).
The 33 Foot Extenion is $8.00 and the 66 Foot Extension is $10.00. They have male and female connectors on each end so one end will attach to another patch cord or the power supply and the other end to another patch cord or the repeller.

CIGARETTE LIGHTER POWER CORD and ALLIGATOR CLIP POWER CORD: Cigarette Power Cord useful for when you need to deploy a machine and have access to a car’s interior cigarette lighter port. This will plug into any standard cigarette lighter and using the battery of the vehicle, will power the sound repeller. This will use the car’s battery so you should only do this if you’re driving the car a few times every week to ensure the battery stays charged. The second power supply cord features heavy duty alligator clips so you can power the unit with any standard deep cycle marine type battery. The life of the battery will vary depending on the settings for the unit, how large the battery is you use and how often the unit goes off. Email support@bugspray.com if you’d like an “estimate” of how long a battery might last afield. We’ll ask you some questions to better understand the power demand for your needs and then calculate the expected battery life.

Q: Do I need to buy a wireless remote or does one come with the unit? A: One is included.
Q: What is the effective range of the remote? A: 20-30 feet
Q: Will it control the unit through the wall or glass window? A: Maybe. Since the thickness of both walls and glass varies, we can’t say it will work through your walls or glass but in general, if the unit is within 20 feet or less of the remote, it can reach the repeller through glass.
Q: Is the battery for the remote easy to replace? A: Yes. And we recommend changing it if you find the remote’s signal to be on the weak side. Often times a fresh battery will give just enough power so it can transmit through glass or walls.
Q: What if the remote isn’t strong enough for my needs? A: Consider getting a wireless on/off power supply. These are low cost, under $20.00, and the ones we’ve seen and used have powerful transmitters. Use one by plugging your power supply into the on/off switch and then using that remote, you can effectively turn your repeller on/off from great distances. We’ve test a few and all were able to control their switch over 100 feet away.
MOUNTING BLOCKS: Mounting blocks make installation of the sound devices easy. Featuring two 1/2″ holes on the bottom/back, the mount will slide over any standard 1/2″ pole made of plastic or steel (rebar). Blocks can hold 1 single unit or 2 units back to back. They can be angled “up” to point sound at the side of a structure or tree top.

REPLACEMENT AC POWER SUPPLY: This is the same power supply that comes with every unit. Power supplies ARE NOT WATERPROOF and SHOULD BE KEPT IN A PROTECTED AREA LIKE IN IN THE HOME OR GARAGE, OUT OF THE SUN!. Rain or direct sunlight will kill them so keep them well protected and use our 33′ or 66′ to reach them when the units are placed far from the power supply plug in outlet.
This short video (less than 60 seconds) details why its important to keep your power supply well protected from the rain and sun!

HOW TO POWER THE UNIT: This unit can be powered by the included AC power converter or 4 “C” batteries. If you need to power it with batteries, we suggest you use the “motion detector” setting (see below). This will allow the batteries to last 3-6 months. Running the unit set to “constant” means it will be always on so the batteries will only last a few days. If you need to set the unit to “constant” for your nuisance animal (see suggested settings below), plan on using the included power supply. Using this will cost very little per month; less than $.50 for every 30-60 days.
WIRELESS REMOTE FEATURES: The wireless remote has 4 buttons. The top left (red) button with the picture of the person running can be used to scare large animals or people. It will turn on the ultra sound and audible sounds as well as flash the light bar when activated (NOTE: THE WHITE LIGHT BAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRONT PANEL WILL ONLY GO OFF WHEN ITS DARK). The button to the top right is the standby control. Use this to turn the unit “off” when you’d like to go outside and not have the unit activate. The button to the bottom left hand side with the alarm will activate the ultra sound only. The button to the right side, bottom with the lightning bolt will activate the LED front panel light used to scare to nocturnal animals like deer, hogs, cats or other canines if you activate the button when its dark out.
TARGET ANIMALS: Armadillo, Bats, Bobcats, Cats, Coyote, Dogs, Deer, Flying Squirrels, Fox, Javelina, Marmots, Mice, Pigs, Rabbits, Rats, Raccoon, Rock Chucks, Skunk, Squirrels, and Wild Hogs.
HOW ULTRA SOUND WORKS: Its important to understand Ultra Sound does not penetrate anything solid. This means it cannot go through walls, plants, around buildings, etc. It is effective only in the area directly in front of where a unit is placed and depending on the placement and surrounding area, can protect up to 5000 sq/ft per machine.
Do not use these to protect any kind of food in the yard. Fruits and vegetables – especially those grown in the garden – will be too attractive for most any animal to ignore and they will usually forego the discomfort of sound to get a good meal if they’ve been feeding there already. But if you’re growing a new garden and want to ensure nuisance animals don’t eat your crop, install units at the beginning of the growing season to keep animals away so they’d “learn” to come around expecting to find a meal.
** SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT PETS ** The use of Ultra Sound cannot injure animals including pets. As explained above, the sounds emitted will make certain animals uncomfortable and want to move elsewhere. This happens because by nature, most any animal is “skittish” when active in a new area and sound is a sense they all use. In fact for many animals, sound is the most important sense so its critical they hear “normal” sounds. This device will release sound anything but normal. And the sounds vary. That means if you are trying to repel rats or bats and dial in that setting, dogs and cats won’t mind the sound even though they can hear it. If used in the yard, your dog or cat will no doubt detect the unit when its first installed. Most won’t care after a few seconds; others might go up to the unit to see what all the fuss is about. Remember, this is their “turf” and some pets like to know what’s going on under their nose. Two other things to remember; first, you can use the wireless remote to “disarm” the device (essentially turn it off) when pets go out. The wireless key comes with every unit and can control several. But even if you forget to turn it off, your pet will quickly learn to accept the sound and not care. Remember, this is their home and the sound arrived at a later date so it will not be perceived as a threat. This is exactly opposite for wild animals coming to your yard foraging. Second, when used inside the home, pets will not be able to detect units in the attic or crawl space since the sound cannot “go through walls”. Ultra sound is limited in strength and has no effective “penetrating” power so even the thinnest of sheet-rock will contain the sound and limit its effective range.
RANGE OF SOUND: This will vary based on the settings. For the ultra sound waves, the impact needs “line of sight” since ultrasound does not penetrate. So for open areas, fields, etc. it will be heard up to 75 feet away and effectively protect up to 5,000 sq/ft. The audible sound is quite loud and can be heard up to 300 feet away.
MOTION DETECTOR RANGE: This setting is adjustable with the highest setting (30) enabling it to pick up movement 50 feet away (animal size will impact performance as explained below so plan accordingly based on your target animal).
HOW TO CONFIGURE THE SETTINGS: This unit has many options and settings. See below for the recommended setting for your target animal. The following is a brief explanation of how each setting will control the unit.
OPERATING TIME SLIDER: Use this to configure the unit to be active any time of the day, during the night only or during daylight hours only.
ULTRASONIC SETTINGS: By default, the unit will always a band of ultra sound when activated. Use this switch to control determine if the unit should only go off based on motion or if you want to be always on (this would be the “Constant” position). The “Cont. Sweep” means it will use both ultra sound and audible sounds when activated. When set to “always on”, the unit will be active for 20-30 seconds and then turn off for 20-30 seconds. The is the normal pattern of on/off action for this setting. During this time, the unit will release a range of ultra sound to go off so the frequency won’t always be the same. When set to “Cont. Sweep”, there will be even more of a difference in sound range as audible sounds will be worked into the mix. For all settings, the lights will not flash consistently or in a pattern; is this very much by design to keep invasive animals on edge.
MOTION SENSOR SENSITIVITY: Use this adjustment to control how sensitive the unit will be at detecting motion. It can be dialed down so it will only go off if the target animal is inside of 5 feet. The “maximum” or most sensitive setting will enable it to be triggered by animals up to 50 feet away (this will depend on the size of the animal and how high the unit is off the ground. Small units won’t be “seen” as far away as large animals and if the device is only a few inches off the ground, it won’t be able to detect motion at its maximum range).
SONIC VOLUME: Use this control if you would like to add sound when repelling animals. In most cases outside, this will help. When using in the home, you many want to keep the sound turned all the way down which means you won’t hear it at all. For repelling most animals in the home, the sound will not be recommended though using it can be helpful if you wanting to “hear” when animals or some kind of movement is detected by the machine.
FREQUENCY SETTING: This control has the yellow top on the button and will allow you to turn it 180 degrees from left to right. The best position for your target animal will be listed below.
DC INPUT CONNECTION: Plug in your AC power supply to this port if powering the unit with the included power supply.
BATTERY COMPARTMENT: Insert 4 “C” cell batteries to this compartment taking care to point them in the right direction. And remember that once the unit has batteries, it will automatically turn on and be active unless you use the wireless remote to place it in standby mode!
DEVICE SIZE: 6.5″ wide by 5.5″ tall by 3.5 inches deep.
REPLACING BACK COVER: This unit is considered “weatherproof”. Its not water proof so you must keep it above water when placed in the yard. The back cover fits like a tupperware cover and effectively seal the back where all the control buttons and electronic board is housed. This cover is meant to fit tight so when replacing it after making your desired settings, take care to properly affix it slowing by starting on the top two corners first. Next, slide the sides over the side housing and work both sides down leaving the corners loose until you set the mid section of the bottom. The plastic housing if flexible enough so you can press firmly on it to bend it just enough to fit inside the plastic edge of the cover. Push one corner on this way and then the second corner. You can also use a flat head screwdriver to gently bend the lip of the cover out a slight bit so it will slide over the housing. This should not be needed as long as you are strong enough to bend the edge of the unit inside the cover width. Also, seasonal temperatures can affect the way the unit fits due to humidity, temperatures, etc. Once the cover has been replaced a couple of times, it will go off and on easily.
RECOMMENDED SETTINGS: The following are recommended settings and can be altered as needed.
Armadillo: Set Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit with batteries. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Badger: Set Operating Time to “night” and the Ultrasonic to “motion sensor”. The Motion Sensor Sensitivity should be on “30” and the Sonic Volume at “80”. Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. In general, using batteries and motion detection only will scare them away and keep them away. But if they have been super active around your property, set the on/off to “constant” for the first week and plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter. This will cause them to track elsewhere and eventually forget your land. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Barn Swallows: You have two setting that will work on swallows targeting the side of your home. The first setup is for when you have access to power and can keep the unit powered by the included power supply. In this case, set Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “N/A” since it will be always on. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. Keep the unit pointed at the side of your home where they’re active and this should protect it when positioned on the ground directed where they land. We highly recommend getting our mounting block for this set up.
The second setting is for when they’re targeting a small area and you need to rely on batteries to power the unit. Set the Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity “30” meaning it will activate when birds come within 40-50 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set at “40-60” and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. This will work immediately and if they ever return, it will promptly chase them away again when triggered. We highly recommend getting our mounting block for this set up too so you can position units where needed.
Bats (inside attic): Set Operating Time to “24 Hr”, Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Sound volume at “0-20”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be set pointing at the “A” in the word “BATS”. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter.
Bats (outside): Set Operating Time to “night”, on/off to “constant”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be set pointing at the “A” in the word “BATS”. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter which will allow the ultra sound sound to be sent out all the time which is a strong deterrent to these animals.
Bear: Set Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit using batteries. Be sure to keep it 3-4 feet off the ground for the best results.
Beaver: Beaver are super sensitive to this device and both “always on” or “motion detector” power options will work at keeping them away. There isn’t a real “best” setting as each scenario will maybe suggest one setting over another. So if you have a stand of trees you want to protect and the trees are thick, you’re probably best served by keeping the unit “always on”. This will ensure beaver won’t approach since they’ll near the unit from afar and stay clear of the protected area. If used this way, set the Operating Time to either “Night” or “24Hr”. The Ultrasonic setting would be “constant” and the Motion Sensitivity not important since the unit would be on all the time. Keep the sonic volume set at zero and the Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. Be sure to keep it 2-3 feet off the ground using a tree or our mounting block on a stake.
Now if you have a stand of trees you want to protect which are accessible from several areas, not too thick and on a fairly flat area, using the motion detector setting could prove more effective. This would allow you to set the audible sound up high to 80-100 so when the unit was activated, it will really scare them. Plus this sound can often times be used as a way to alert you that something has set it off so you know to inspect the area. When used this way, set the Operating Time to “night” and the Ultrasonic to “motion sensor”. The Motion Sensor Sensitivity should be on “30” and the Sonic Volume up to “60-80” at least. Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. In general, using batteries and motion detection only will scare them enough to keep them away for good. Be sure to keep units 2-3 feet off the ground mounting them on trees or using our Mounting Blocks for best results.
Birds: You have two setting that will work for birds targeting the side of your home or out in the yard.
The first setup is best for small birds. Use this option when you have access to power and can keep the unit powered by the included power supply. In this case, set Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. Keep the unit pointed at the side of your home where they’re active and this should protect it when positioned on the ground directed where they land. We highly recommend getting our mounting block for this set up.
The second setup is best used for large birds. So if you can locate the machine close to where they are congregating, you can set Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity “30” meaning it will activate when birds come within 30-40 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set at “40-60” and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. For controlling birds in small areas, this will work immediately and when they return, it will promptly chase them away when the unit is activated. This is ideal for front porches, decks, garages, trees, bushes, etc. Use the unit set on our Mounting Block pointed at the area you want protect. Remember, this protection will be directional so if you find units can protect one zone but the birds find “gaps” of open areas to infiltrate, you’ll need to fill these gaps with more units.
Bobcat: Bobcat are super sensitive to this device and either “always on” or “motion detector” will work at keeping them away. There isn’t a real “best” setting as each scenario will maybe suggest one setting over another. So if you have bobcat in an area and want to ensure they forage away from your property to avoid conflict with kids or pets, running always on and keeping units along entry points directed away from where you will be active can be effective. If used this way, set the Operating Time to either “Night” or “24Hr”. The Ultrasonic setting would be “constant” and the Motion Sensitivity N/A since the unit would be on all the time. Keep the sonic volume set at zero and the Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Now if you have bobcat coming around to a specific area, using the motion detector setting could prove more effective. This would allow you to set the audible sound up high to 80-100 so when the unit was activated, it will really scare them. Plus this sound can often times be used to alert you that something has set it off so you know to inspect the area. If used this way, set the Operating Time to “night” and the Ultrasonic to “motion sensor”. The Motion Sensor Sensitivity should be on “30” and the Sonic Volume at “80-100”. Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. In general, using batteries and motion detection only will scare them away and only be needed 1-2. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Canada Geese: The best way to use this unit for geese is to rely on the motion detector and the audible sound to be as high as possible. So the proper setting for the unit when powered by batteries will be to set the Operating Time to “24 hr”, the Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity “10-30” meaning it will activate when geese come within 10-40 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set as high as possible (40-60 is good, 80 even better) and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. When geese get close and trigger the unit, it will frighten them big time and in most cases, prevent them from ever returning.
Chipmunk: The best way to use this unit for chipmunk is to rely on the motion detector and the audible sound to be in the 20-40 DB range. So the proper setting for the unit when powered by batteries will be to set the Operating Time to “Daytime”, the Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity “10-30” meaning it will activate when chipmunk come within 10-40 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set in the 20-40 range and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle pointing at the “R” in “Rodents”. When chipmunk get close and trigger the unit, it will frighten them big time and in most cases, prevent them from feeling good about coming back to the area.
Cougar: Cougar are super sensitive to this device and either “always on” or “motion detector” will work at keeping them away. There isn’t a real “best” setting as each scenario will maybe suggest one setting over another. So if you have cougars in an area and want to ensure they forage away from your property to avoid conflict with kids or pets, running always on and keeping units along entry points directed away from where you will be active can be effective. If used this way, set the Operating Time to either “Night” or “24Hr”. The Ultrasonic setting would be “constant” and the Motion Sensitivity N/A since the unit would be on all the time. Keep the sonic volume set at zero and the Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. Be sure to keep it 3-4 feet off the ground for best coverage.
Now if you have cougar coming around to a specific area, using the motion detector setting could prove more effective. In general, using batteries and motion detection only will scare them away and only be needed 1-2 times to have a great impact. Be sure to keep it 3-4 feet off the ground for best coverage.
Coyote: Set Operating Time to “night” and Ultrasonic to “motion sensor”. The Motion Sensor Sensitivity should be on “30” and the Sonic Volume at “80”. Set the Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. In general, using batteries and motion detection only will keep them away. Be sure to keep it 3-4 feet off the ground for the best results.
Deer: Set Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit using batteries. Be sure to keep it 3-4 feet off the ground for the best results.
Dogs: Set Operating Time to any of the 3 options depending on when your target dogs are most active. If set to Motion Detector, set the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Sound to “80”. If set to “Constant”, turn the “Sonic Volume” to the far left which will eliminate audible sound. The Frequency (yellow knob) should be set in the middle. In general, using batteries and motion detection will keep them away but you may have reason to keep the unit on all the time. Be sure to keep it 3-4 feet off the ground for the best results.
Feral Cats: You can repel cats from the yard by keeping the unit always on using the included AC power supply or by powering it with batteries set to motion sensor. When using the included AC power supply, set the Operating Time to “24 HR” and Ultrasonic to “constant”. The Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Volume should be turned all the down (to the left). Set the Frequency (yellow knob) to the middle. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
When relying on the motion sensor powered by batteries, set the Operating Time to “24 HR” and the Ultrasonic to “motion sensor”. The Motion Sensor Sensitivity should be on “30” and the Sonic Volume at “0”. The frequency (yellow knob) should be right in the middle. Just remember the range of the motion sensor is 30 feet so you should plan on having enough units in place to properly protect the yard. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Ferel Pigs: When possible, power the units using the included AC power supply. When powering them this way, set the Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Volume set to “80-100”. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter for at least two weeks. There after, once the pigs have learned the sound will be constantly active, they will generally reroute their foraging in other directions and avoid your protected land. At this time you can turn the Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume set to “80-100” assuming you are able to continue running the unit via the AC power supply. But if you need to power the unit via batteries, set the Operating Time to “night”, the Ultrasonic to “motion detector”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “80-100” unless you can’t use the sonic volume. In that case, turn that dial down to “0”. The frequency volume should be set almost all the way to the left. Be sure to keep it 4-5 feet off the ground for the best results.
*** Feral Pigs that are truly wild will be skittish and afraid of this unit. Two good indicators these units will do their job is a) the Pigs are active at night only and b) the Pigs are afraid of people and in general, run when they sense any person coming near to them.
Flying Squirrels (inside attic): Set Operating Time to “24 Hr”, Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Sound volume at “0-20” if this is not a problem for people in living areas. Frequency (yellow knob) should be almost all the way to the right. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the LED light going off is a strong deterrent to these animals.
Flying Squirrels (outside home): Set Operating Time to “Night”, Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Sound volume at “0”. The Frequency (yellow knob) should be almost all the way to the right. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the LED light going off is a strong deterrent to these animals.
Fox: Set Operating Time to “night” and Ultrasonic to “motion sensor”. The Motion Sensor Sensitivity should be on “30” and the Sonic Volume at “80”. Set the Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. In general, using batteries and motion detection only will keep them away. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Geese: The best way to use this unit for geese is to rely on the motion detector and the audible sound to be as high as possible.
Goats: Set Operating Time to “day” or “night” or “24/hrs”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit using batteries. Be sure to keep it 3-4 feet off the ground for the best results.
Grackles: You have two setting that will work on grackles using your home for nesting, roosting, etc. They will also work to chase away grackles roosting or perching in trees out in the yard. The first setup is for when you have access to a wall outlet and can keep the unit powered by the included power supply. In this case, set the Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “N/A” since the unit will always be on. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0” and the Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. Keep the unit pointed at the side of your home where they’re trying to nest or roost like on gutters, ledges or decks. We highly recommend getting our mounting block for this set up when placing units on the ground.
The second setting is for when you need to rely on batteries to power the unit. So when using batteries to power the unit, you’ll need to rely on the motion detector to trigger it on. You’ll want to set Operating Time to “day”, the Ultrasonic switch to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” meaning it will activate when birds come within 40-50 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set at “40-60” DB’s and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. For controlling birds roosting on trees or power lines, the unit will scare them away immediately when triggered on. This setup is ideal for front porches, decks, garages, etc too so it will work just as well compared to running them all the time. The difference is that when you run them all the time, grackles will hear the sound from afar and never come close. But when you rely on the motion detector, approaching animals will have no clue the device is around so expect to see some grackles come around until they learn what will happen. We highly recommend getting our mounting block for this set up too as it will allow you to set up units atop 1/2″ steel or plastic stakes in the yard placed where the repeller will be most effective.
Groundhogs: Set Operating Time to any of the 3 options depending on when your chucks are most active. If set to Motion Detector, set the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Sound to “80”. If set to “Constant”, turn the “Sonic Volume” to the far left which will eliminate audible sound. Remember, using the included power supply with the power always on will enable the unit to cover the most area as possible. But if you don’t have a nearby outlet for power, use batteries and understand the motion sensor will only trigger when target animals come to within 30 feet of the unit. The Frequency (yellow knob) should be set in the middle regardless of the power option and in general, using batteries and motion detection will keep them away and out of the yard for good. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Ground Squirrels: Set Operating Time to “day”, on/off to “constant”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the ultra sound and LED going off all the time is a strong deterrent to ground squirrels and will keep them out as long as the unit is turned on. Be sure to keep it 1 foot off the ground for the best results.
If you do not have access to a plug and must rely on motion detection and “C” cell batteries, set the Operating Time to “Day”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Sound volume as high as possible like “80+” (as long as this is not a problem for people in living nearby). Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle.
Gulls: You have two settings that will work on unwanted gulls hanging around your dock or pier. The first configuration will provide the most “power” and keep them away for areas up to 5,000 sq/ft. For this to work, you need to run the unit using the included power supply. If the gulls are active during the day, set Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity will be “N/A” since it will be always on. Typically they’ll accumulate during the night so you will most likely need to set the unit to “night” or “always” on if they can show up anytime. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. The ultra sound going off all the time is a strong deterrent and gulls hearing the sound will stay away for good.
The second configuration will work if you need to power the unit by batteries. For this to work, you’ll need to use the motion detector to turn it on (trigger it) since the batteries will go dead in no time if the unit is set to “always on”. So the proper setting for the unit when powered by batteries is to se the Operating Time to “night” (assuming this when the gulls come around), the Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity “30” meaning it will activate when gulls come within 40-50 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set as high as possible (40-60 is good, 80 even better) and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. When the gulls get close and trigger the unit, it will frighten them big time and in most cases, prevent them from ever returning.
Hawks: You have two settings that will work on keeping hawks out of your “air space”, around your ponds or stalking your pets. The first configuration will provide the most “power” and keep them away for areas up to 5,000 sq/ft. For this to work, you need to run the unit using the included power supply. Hawks tend to be active from first light to dark so typically, setting the Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity will be “N/A” since it will be always on is a good starting point. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. The ultra sound going off all the time is a strong deterrent and hawks hearing the sound will stay out of the treated area.
The second configuration can be considered if you need to power the unit by batteries. For this to work, you’ll need to use the motion detector since the batteries will go dead in no time if the unit is always going off. So the proper setting for the unit when powered by batteries is to se the Operating Time to “day”, the Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity “30” meaning it will activate when geese come within 40-50 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set as high as possible (40-60 is good, 80 even better) and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. When hawks get close and trigger the unit (within 30-40 feet in most cases), the unit will frighten them big time and after 1-2 encounters, prevent them from ever returning.
Heron: You have two settings that will work on herons hanging around ponds, lakes, streams or in the yard stealing fish from your koi pond. The first configuration will provide the most “power” and keep them away for areas up to 5,000 sq/ft. For this to work, you need to run the unit using the included power supply. If you’re heron is active during the day, set the Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity won’t matter since the unit will be always on. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. The ultra sound going off all the time is a strong deterrent and herons hearing the sound as they get near will keep flying and not land.
The second configuration will work if you need to power the unit by batteries. For this to work, set the Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity “30” meaning it will activate when herons come within 40-50 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set as high as possible (40-60 is good, 80 even better) and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. When herons get close and trigger the unit, it will frighten them big time and in most cases, prevent them from returning. For large bodies of water, line the shore with units pointed in areas where you’ve seen them active.
** In some cases, heron will hang around ponds throughout the night. If you suspect you have this happening, configure the unit to be on 24 hours a day. **
Iguana: The best way to use this unit for iguana is to rely on the ultra sound “always on” setting. This means you should plan on powering it with the included power supply. So the proper setting for the unit when powered this way will be to set the Operating Time to “24 hr”, the Ultrasonic to “Constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity won’t matter since its on all the time. The frequency (yellow knob) should be set right in the middle pointing at the “B” in Birds. When iguana get within the range of the sound, it will cause them distress and they will move away and stay away. Remember, the POWER SUPPLY IS NOT WEATHERPROOF and must be kept out of the sun and rain. Use one of our extending power cords if needed to place the unit out in the yard where iguana are active but keep the power supply inside and protected.
Javelina (Havelina): Set Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Volume set to “80-100”. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter for at least two weeks and then running it on batteries using the “Motion Sensor” will generally work thereafter. Be sure to keep it 3-4 feet off the ground for the best results.
*** Javelina that are truly wild will be skittish and afraid of this unit. Two good indicators these units will do their job is a) the Javelina are active at night only and b) the Javelina are afraid of people and in general, run when they sense any person coming near to them.
Marmots: Set Operating Time to any of the 3 options depending on when your target marmots are most active. If set to Motion Detector, set the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Sound to “80”. If set to “Constant”, turn the “Sonic Volume” to the far left which will eliminate audible sound. The Frequency (yellow knob) should be set in the middle at the “SK” in “SKUNKS”. In general, using batteries and motion detection will keep them away and out of the yard but you may have reason to keep the unit on all the time. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Mice (inside attic or crawl space): Set Operating Time to “24 Hr”, Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Sound volume at “0-20” if this is not a problem for people in living areas. Frequency (yellow knob) should be mostly to the right. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the LED light going off and the constant ultra sound pumped out is a strong deterrent to these animals.
Mice (in living spaces): Set Operating Time to your needs. In general, setting up a single machine per room to “24 HR” and the Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Sound volume at “0” since the ultra sound alone will be enough to drive them out of living spaces. Use the include wireless key to turn the unit on/off as needed when not in the rooms where machines are deployed. Frequency (yellow knob) should be pointing at the “D” in the word “RODENTS” to start and in general, no further adjustments are needed. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the LED light going off and the constant ultra sound pumped out is a strong deterrent to these animals.
Mice (outside): You have two options when repelling mice and other rodents outside around the home. If possible, set the unit to be always on during the night using the included power supply. When used this way, set the Operating Time to “Night”, Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Sound volume at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be pointing at the “D” in the word “RODENTS” to start and in general, no further adjustments are needed.
If you need to power units with batteries, set the Operating Time to “night”, the Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80” (this can be lowered if its too loud. The Frequency (yellow knob) should be almost all the way to the left. Keep the unit about 1 foot off the ground. Using a Mounting Block is highly suggested for this installation so units can be placed where needed.
Mink: Mink are super sensitive to this device and either “always on” or “motion detector” settings will work at keeping them away.
There isn’t a real “best” setting as each scenario will maybe suggest one setting over another. So if you have mink in an area and want to ensure they forage away from your property to stop them from eating fish or birds, running the unit always on and keeping units along entry points directed away from where you will be active can be effective. Mink are mostly active at night so running them during the day should not be needed.
Now if you have mink coming around to a specific area targeting a pond or chicken coop, using the motion detector setting could prove more effective.
Moose: Moose can be repelled by running the device all the time or by relying on the motion activated sensor. In general, running it all the time will keep them away since they will hear it long before they ever get close to the unit. When used this way, you’ll get a good 75 of protection if not more. If you can keep it always on, use the included power brick and set the operating time to “night”, the Ultrasonic switch to “Always On”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity would be N/A since it will be running all the time and the Sonic Volume should be set to “0”. The Frequency (yellow knob) should be almost all the way to the left. Be sure to keep it 4-5 feet off the ground for the best results.
When powering the unit with batteries, set the Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. The Frequency (yellow knob) should be almost all the way to the left pointing at the word “Deer”. You’ll need 4 “c” cell batteries to keep it running and ready to turn on when activated.
Mountain Lion: Mountain Lion are super sensitive to this device and either “always on” or “motion detector” will work at keeping them away. There isn’t a real “best” setting as each scenario will maybe suggest one setting over another. So if you have mountain lions in an area and want to ensure they forage away from your property to avoid conflict with kids or pets, running always on and keeping units along entry points directed away from where you will be active can be effective. If used this way, set the Operating Time to either “Night” or “24Hr”. The Ultrasonic setting would be “constant” and the Motion Sensitivity N/A since the unit would be on all the time. Keep the sonic volume set at zero and the Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. Be sure to keep it 3-4 feet off the ground for the best results.

Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. In general, using batteries and motion detection only will scare them away and only be needed 1-2. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Muskrat: Muskrat are sensitive to this device and will stay away from protected zones whether using the “always on” or “motion detector” setting. Ultra sound alone will usually work but when relying on the motion detector, using the audible sound too makes it extra effective.
If you want to keep a garden or yard muskrat free, running the unit always on and keeping units along entry points can be effective. If used this way, set the Operating Time to either “Night” or “24Hr”. The Ultrasonic setting would be “constant” and the Motion Sensitivity N/A since the unit would be on all the time. Keep the sonic volume set at zero and the Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. Be sure to keep the unit 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results. Muskrat are mostly active at night so running them during the day should not be needed but they will sometimes forage when its light so adjust the settings as needed.
For muskrat coming to a specific area targeting a garden, using the motion detector setting could prove more effective. The Motion Sensor Sensitivity should be on “30” and the Sonic Volume as high as possible. 30-60 is good; “80-100” even better but it will be quite loud. Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. In general, using batteries and motion detection will scare them away just once and will usually never return. Be sure to keep to keep the unit 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Opossum: Set Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit using batteries. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.

Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. In general, using batteries and motion detection only will scare them away and only be needed 1-2. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Porcupine: Set Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80” if not higher. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit using batteries. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Prairie Dogs: Set Operating Time to any of the 3 options depending on when your target prairie dogs are most active. If set to Motion Detector, set the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Sound to “80”. If set to “Constant”, turn the “Sonic Volume” to a high level level when machines are deployed in commercial environments. For residential settings, keep the audible sound low to off by dialing the volume to the far left. The Frequency (yellow knob) should be set in the middle “rodent” setting. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
To expel and chase away animals already nesting in your yard, plan on running the unit for two weeks straight powered by the included power brick. After two weeks, you can use them powered by batteries and set to “motion detector”. But if they return, run the machines 24 hours a day to keep target animals away for good. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Rabbit: Set Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit with batteries. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Raccoon: Set Operating Time to “night”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. Frequency (yellow knob) almost all the way to the left. Plan on powering the unit using batteries. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Rats (inside attic or crawl space): Set Operating Time to “24 Hr”, Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Sound volume at “0-20” if this is not a problem for people in living areas. Frequency (yellow knob) should be pointing at the “D” in the word “RODENTS” to start and in general, no further adjustments are needed. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the LED light going off and the constant ultra sound pumped out is a strong deterrent to these animals.
Rats (in living spaces): Set Operating Time to your needs. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the LED light going off and the constant ultra sound pumped out is a strong deterrent to these animals.
Rats (outside home): You have two options for outside use around the home.
Rock Chucks: Set Operating Time to any of the 3 options depending on when your target rock chucks are most active. In general, using batteries and motion detection will keep them away and out of the yard but you may have reason to keep the unit on all the time. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.

The Sonic Volume should be set as high as possible (40-60 is good, 80 even better) and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. When the gulls get close and trigger the unit, it will frighten them big time and in most cases, prevent them from ever returning.
Skunk: Set Operating Time to any of the 3 options depending on when your target skunks are most active. In general, using batteries and motion detection will keep them away and out of the yard but you may have reason to keep the unit on all the time. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Snapping Turtles: Snapping Turtles can be repelled by running the device set to go off via the motion activated sensor. You’ll need this if they’re active day and night so set the operating time to “24 hr”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. The Frequency (yellow knob) should be almost all the way to the left pointing at the word “Deer”. You’ll need 4 “c” cell batteries to keep it running and ready to turn on when activated. Keep it 1 foot off the ground pointed at where the turtles like to graze or travel.
Squirrels (Gray)(inside attic): Set Operating Time to “24 Hr”, Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on and the Sonic Sound volume at “0-20” if this is not a problem for people in living areas. Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the LED light going off and the constant ultra sound pumped out is a strong deterrent to these animals.
Squirrels (Gray)(outside in the yard): Set Operating Time to “day”, on/off to “constant”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the ultra sound and LED going off all the time is a strong deterrent to these animals.
Swallows: You have two setting that will work on swallows targeting the side of your home.
We highly recommend getting our mounting block for this set up too so you can position units where needed
Turkey: Set the Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity “30” meaning it will activate when birds come within 30-50 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set at “20+” (meaning the higher the better) and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. For repelling turkeys in an area 5,000 sq/ft or less, this setting will work immediately once the unit is placed out. Be sure to keep it 1-2 feet off the ground for the best results.
Voles (in crawl spaces, attics or outbuildings): Set Operating Time to your needs. In general, setting up a single machine per room to “24 HR” and the Ultrasonic to “constant”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since the unit will always on and the Sonic Sound volume at “0” since the ultra sound alone will be enough to drive them out of living spaces.
Vultures: Set Operating Time to “24 HR”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor”, the Motion Sensor Sensitivity to “30” and the Sonic Volume to “60-80”. Frequency (yellow knob) in the middle. Plan on powering the unit using batteries.
Wild Pigs: When possible, power the units using the included AC power supply.
*** Wild Pigs that are truly wild will be skittish and afraid of this unit. Two good indicators these units will do their job is a) the Pigs are active at night only and b) the Pigs are afraid of people and in general, run when they sense any person coming near to them.
Woodchuck: Set Operating Time to any of the 3 options depending on when your chucks are most active.
Woodpeckers: You have two setting that will work for Woodpeckers. The first setup is for when you need to keep them off and away from the whole side of the home. So for large areas, set Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “constant” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity is “N/A” since it will be always on. The Sonic Volume should be set at “0”. Frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. Plan on powering the unit using the included AC converter as the ultra sound and LED going off all the time is a strong deterrent to these woodpeckers. Keeping the unit pointed at the side of your home should be able to protect the whole side when positioned on the ground directed where they land.
The second setting for woodpeckers is for when they’re targeting a small area. If you can locate the machine close to this area, you can set Operating Time to “day”, Ultrasonic to “Motion Sensor” and the Motion Sensor Sensitivity “30” meaning it will activate when birds come within 30 feet of the unit. The Sonic Volume should be set at “80” and the frequency (yellow knob) should be in the middle. For controlling birds in small areas, this will work immediately.

We live on 5 acres in a rural area outside of Tulsa Ok. We have recently had a bobcat get into our outside chicken coop and kill 3 of our chickens. We have since seen it twice at dusk and once late in the evening. We have begun putting the chickens in their inside coop in the late afternoon to avoid any more mishaps
We don’t wish to kill the cat but would like to permanently remove it. Animal control will not do this without an exorbitant fee. Would your ultrasound product be able to keep this or these critters away? Do u have recommendations from other customers that I could hear from? Would it interfere with the chickens when they are outside?
Looking to take care of this situation ASAP so hope to hear from u soon
And once ordered about how long could we hope to receive it?
Thank you

Judy,
In general, this device is very effective against certain animals and one of the most sensitive to it are bobcats. They will generally immediately leave an area where they hear it and after that first encounter, often times stay away for good. The rule here is simple.
If the units are deployed to operate all the time, approaching bobcat will detect it from afar and probably stay away for good. It might try to sneak up once or twice more but if the sound is always on, they will detect it and after a few times reroute themselves elsewhere.
Alternatively, if you rely on the motion detector to set it off, the impact of the unit kicking in with a loud audible sound combined with the ultrasound could be just as effective if not more so. This can happen because hunting animals, especially when they get close to targets, will be super sensitive to any type of device like this. And once they encounter it, will often not want to return due to the fear it can make them feel. Plus, if the audible sound is used, it can be heard from afar so it could easily be used to alert you that danger is close.
In summary, either setting can be effective on bobcat and we’ve had great results with it so it should work fine for your needs too. The exact way to configure it with batteries or by AC power is explained above here:
https://bugspray.com/deterrents/sound/usd-animal-repeller-with-wireless-remote#bobcat
Your only challenge is to ensure you have the area properly protected so that no matter what direction they approach from, the unit will go off. Personally I’m using 5 of these along my 1 acre border to ward off nuisance deer. These deer have been ravishing my land for many years but after setting these out over 6 months ago, I’ve been able to stop them from coming around for good. Currently I have piles of acorns they normally devour but even with all this food around, they’ve stayed away due to these units. I actually saw the unit kick in a couple of times and in both cases, the deer were super spooked and in turn, have decided to stay away for good. Currently they have rerouted their trails to stay clear of where these units are installed so they’ve been very effective for my needs and I expect they would do the same for you too.
As for stock and shipping; we have plenty to send out once ordered since we’re here in Atlanta GA, you’d get them in about 2-3 days once ordered.
Cheers,
Jonathan

Works areas at night where you don’t have to have on during those day light traffic hours vulnerable to humans.
Larry Ranes says
The repeller appears to be working great, no wild pig damage to my back yard in over a week. Initial problem with power supply was quickly corrected. The motion activated alarms are loud enough, as I have no close neighbors. The unit was easy to set up, waterproof and works on a wide range of nuisance animals.
James M. Leonard says
Was wondering if mounting two of these units on the top edges (left and right side) at the ridge line would prevent turkey vultures from landing on my roof. I would plan on leaving the units on continuously using only the ultra sound setting and run the extension power cords from the power supply which would be located inside the house.
What do you think?
Tech Support says
James,
This can work. In our experience, we see it work when the roof is fairly flat. Remember, these units project the sound beam like a flashlight. So if the ridge is too far “above” the lower levels of the roof, it could leave the lower area unprotected. In general, this isn’t an issue since the sound projected out into the open area continuously is usually strong enough to keep them from ever landing. Especially since they need big air to fly and circle in.
This type of circling flight pattern lends itself to hearing the sound as they approach which in turn steers them away. But if you find them hanging or roosting below the unit, you’ll need to place units on gutters projecting over this lower area or on the ground pointed up.
In summary, the always on setting will do the job when units are mounted on the ground pointed up or on the ridge pointed out. But if dead zones exist and they find these areas, you’ll need to add more units accordingly.

It’s working for our Vulture Problem! My husband placed this on our roof in a central location where it could project outward and annoy the Vultures (regular and turkey) that like to perch there. He used the screws from the stand to attach the device to a wooden plank, and then attached the Plank to our chimney shield. After 1 night it didn’t seem to be working and my husband had to replace the batteries and added the audible sounds (not just the high pitch ones). We suspect that the first day/night they were testing the system until the battery ran out because we haven’t seen them since!
GNB says
We purchased three of these to discourage turkeys, which have destroyed about a third of our one acre lawn. The repellers have a limited range, but the turkeys do avoid the areas around which we’ve mounted the repellers. We’d need to purchase another six units to deter them from the remaining areas. Easy to mount and carefree. I’d recommend for smaller yards.

No bobcat tracks after that – yay! And thanks!

Absolutely Amazing! I have used ultra sound repellers in the past and they always were returned. They never worked. This repeller has sounds we can hear. We had ducks taking over our pond, yard, home and pergola. At first they were cute then they became a nuisance. At one time we had close to 400 whistling ducks in our yard. They were pooping all over the place and eating our grass. I set up the repeller where they like to congregate. It was loud as loud could be. I used the settings recommended in the directions. In two days the ducks were completely gone. I actually bought a second one and now I will use them as security alarms in our back yard just in case somebody wants to steal our yard furniture. My friend has a coyote problem and he bought one on my recommendation.

I ordered two ultra sound repellers to rid my property of beavers. The repellers were set up and the next day, our area in Virginia had flooding rain. One of the repellers was under water for at least a day, maybe two. I was sure it was washed away or no longer working. My husband took it apart, cleaned it, and let it dry a few days. He put it back together and tested it for sound and light. To our delight and surprise, everything worked. We set it up again and, so far, we have had no further tree damage from beavers.

Hello!
We have seen a mouse or two in our kitchen (so we’re assuming we have 30 billion mice we don’t see), and we are thinking about getting this ultrasonic device. However, my wife and I are avid birders and conservationists, with birdhouses essentially right outside our kitchen window. We also have a pet bird — a sweet old canary we inherited from my mom.
A few questions:
1)Will the ultrasonic machine, if placed inside in my kitchen, upset the wild birds in the birdhouses outside our kitchen window?
2) Will our pet canary be affected by the machine? We normally keep him in the kitchen, too– but we can easily move him upstairs. Would that protect him?
3) If the ultrasonic machine isn’t going to work on the mice without affecting the birds, I will gladly use the humane mouse trap you recommended. Instead of killing the mice, how far away would we have to relocate them to ensure they don’t return?
Thank you so much! (Sorry this is so long!)
Tech Support says
Jake,
As a bird fan myself, I learned the hard way that keeping a feeder right outside my window (using window mounted feeder actually) was basically a recipe for disaster regarding rodents. Within a year, I had them invading. Being in the pest control business, this was unacceptable. I then located a “squirrel proof” feeder to the yard away from the house and since then, things have been manageable.
To “cure” the inside issue, I started with our LT3310 traps. Using a couple, I was able to live catch several voles (pretty much a mouse) and once I went 2 weeks with no new droppings, sound or other evidence, I installed our sound repellers for a more “permanent” solution.
LT3310: https://bugspray.com/traps/cage/live-trap-3-x-3-x-10
In your case, I’d recommend the same. The sound repellers alone are not likely to chase out any animals that have already entered. Use the trap for this.
Once activity ceases, setting up repellers in the home, any crawl space, attic or basement would be smart.
First, if placed in the kitchen, the sound will not bother outside birds as the sound waves cannot penetrate walls.
Second, it would probably bother your pet canary if the two are in the same room. Mind you the sound is not “dangerous”. Its just alarming and disturbing to target animals like birds so there is a chance the canary would be unhappy hearing it. That being said, most “pets” learn or get used to it since it resides there where they live. Territorial connections can over ride the uncomfortable feelings presented. My dog was quick to check out our units but within minutes forgot about them and since then, does not mind their presence. But other dogs do not like to hang around when heard. So I would plan on relocating the canary at first and go from there.
Three, the devices will repel rodents from any room where deployed but their lack of “penetrating” power means you will need more installed and not just one. Maybe under the kitchen if there is a basement or crawl space there. You many need one in your attic too. Rodents tend to move throughout the home and if you only deploy one unit in one room, there is a great chance active animals will merely relocate to a room where they do not detect the sound and there will be lots of areas where this could happen.

Seems to be working for our pesky Grackles and its a Great Price! It took some adjustment to get the sensitivity dialed in but seems to be dialed in good now. I have a river otter who has taken up residency in the crawl space of my summer home (it’s fairly close to a body of salt water). I secured his entry/exit point a few weeks ago when I knew he was gone but that rascal managed to find another way in.
If I set up your repeller outside the perimeter of the crawl space, would he be too afraid to leave ? If I can get him out of there, I’m assuming your repeller would encourage him to find some other place to live ? Thanks.
Tech Support says
Stan,
So the short story is there is a good chance you can keep him out for good. Only exception would be if its a female AND she has a litter inside. But assuming its only using the home for temp residency during off weather AND not getting food from something in the home, the repeller should do the job. But it would be best if you installed two units. This way if it figures out how to get inside, it won’t be comfortable having to deal with it always on under the home.
So ideally, one unit placed under the home, always on, emitting ultra sound only should make that area a bad place for it to want to use.
On the outside, setting up one to be activated by motion is the way to go. For that one, you’d have the audible sound up to 40-60 which will scare it quite a bit and in theory, do the job.
Reason for using two is simple; this animal has already figured out how to get in after you kicked it out and chances are high it will figure this out again. If it does, it will circumvent the outside unit and if nothing is under the home, might be comfortable enough to stick around. But if you take away both locations, you should displace him for good.
Let me point out this area is most likely prone to other animal invasions so these units would be wise to have one way or the other.

We just had a chicken killed by a bobcat in the middle of the day. We have seen it twice since then, lurking about. My question is, if we set this to constantly making a noise, how will this affect the chickens?
Tech Support says
If you read the details of how this unit works, you’ll see the sound is very much “directional”. This means you can place them outside the pen or yard where the chickens are kept and direct the sound away from them. So surrounding their area with a few units will project the sound away from them so no impact on the chickens directly.
If done properly, the sound will in turn divert incoming animals like bobcat so they’ll stay away but the ones inside the protected area won’t hear or be bothered by them. Each unit can protect an area up to 120 degrees wide so 3 units would be needed for a complete circle of protection. But in most cases, 1-2 units placed where invading animals are likely to enter will do the job.

I am interested in this animal control repeller for otters in my outdoor pond which is a distance from the house. I see where the repeller is not water proof. So what do you do when it is outdoors in the “wild”? It would not be an application where one can run out whenever rain is forecast or unexpected rain.
Tech Support says
Margaret,
Sorry for any misunderstanding on this but in fact these units are very much designed for use outside in the rain. True, they’re not waterproof as we state in our video but that means you cannot submerge them in water, like hold them under water in a lake or pond. But they are “weatherproof” and that means rainfall will not affect them. Using them outside is fine and in fact how most are put to use.
They feature a “tupperware” back panel that will keep out the rain and if any moisture did get inside, it will drain through the hole located on the bottom side. All this is covered in our video above, if you’ve not yet watched please do as its very informative and should help clarify any questions or concerns you have.

About 1/2 of my 1 acre property in Northern New Mexico is battling with prairie dogs. I am surrounded on three sides of our home and lawn by community open space which is invaded with them and their mounds. My grass lawn is sustaining them with access holes for them to feed. As the community is not game on paying a fortune to relocate or poison them, I am looking at your system for a way to discourage them from invading our lot. Can you advise on how I might go about this and how large an area would one system cover? Thanks!
Tech Support says
Jean,
This is an easy one and in fact, a situation where our units work well. The plan of defending your yard should be along property lines.
So first, insert our Solar Powered Ground Stake Repellers along any property border where they might want to enter. Space them out 30-40 feet apart. These will prevent all ground tunneling/nesting animals from wanting to “live” any where close.
Solar Mole Repeller: https://bugspray.com/repellents/sound/deluxe-solar-powered-mole-vole-gopher-snake-repeller
Next, set up our above ground repellers, the units above, one per side you want to defend. Point them “away” and out over the land where they might be coming from. Their sound will deter the prairie dogs from coming close as well. Scroll up and watch the video which details how to set the units up, the video is at the top of the page. If you want to protect 3 sides of the back yard, get 3 units.

I’ve just purchased two of these to place back to back in order to block off the line between the garden and the woods, but now I’m wondering if I should be covering all four sides of the garden. Will they just scoot around the beam?
Tech Support says
Sarah,
Its not possible for us to say since we can’t see the “layout” of the garden. What we do know is the sound projects “out” in a 90-120 degree angle. In theory, units placed caddy cornder to one another should provide adequate coverage. But if there are obstructions, heavy vegetation, etc. so they can avoid the sound, you may need more. I suggest you try using the two and go from there. You can always add more if needed.
Side note, be sure to watch our video so you have a full understanding of how the units work (it’s above at the top of this page).

These extensions made the installation of my pest repellers workable. I placed seven units in my crawl space to which each is connected. Perfect for my setup.
Virginia Herndon says
In early summer 2021, I had a skunk invasion repeatedly finding access under my house. Because I’d previously used effective products from Bugspray.com, I immediately went to their website where I found the Ultra Pest Repellers. I ordered three but success was far from instant. Along with odor eliminator, I experimented with many variables. Those included programming each unit and most importantly placement and orientation of units. I live on a hillside with many solid walls, fences, thick vegetation and close neighbors, all presenting challenges. It was about three weeks before the skunks became fewer. I then purchased seven more units and strategically placed them in my crawl space, targeting the original break ins of the skunks. This involved a lot of tweaking over about a week. The tech support from Bugspray was stellar. Essentially I have a “trained” the skunks and they have “trained” me over time with trial and error. These units are worth the investment.
Virginia Herndon says
Having ten of the pest repellers, all situated in strategic locations, these 66ft and the 33ft extensions have made it possible to control all the pest repellers with the flip of one switch. No more cumbersome extension cords to fuss with.
It is recommended that all the units be rebooted periodically. I accomplish this by turning off the electrical power which then switches via the attached power cord to the battery backup in each unit. After 10 minutes or so, I can easily flip the power back to the hardwired electric source.
It can take some time to tease the thin lines apart when first unpackaged. I find it easier to take both the 33ft and the 66 ft extensions inside the house to separate. Perhaps not too important but works for me as they can tangle easily.
These extensions are a great workable option.

I am wanting to keep cats off of our vehicles. So I don’t need it to be set for a lot of distance. Just when they are on the hood and top of the cars. At what height would I want this to be? Also, when the sound goes off, how long does it go? More interested in the audible sound.

Kim,
First, if you watch the video at the top of this page, you will get details of how long the sound runs, the range of the motion detector, etc.
.
The quick answer is about 30-45 seconds depending on target setting, power supply, etc.
.
For Cats, I’d go with the audible sound/motion detector setting to “scare” them when they land on the hood, roof or trunk. This would mean that first, you’d need the unit a good 10-15 feet away from either side of the car if you wanted to protect the car with one unit. If you need to place units in front/back of the car, you’ll need two units since the roof would effectively shield opposite sides of line of view.
.
As for height; I’d go with 4-5 feet of rebar so they’re at least as high as the hood. Remember, pushing the rod down 1-2 feet into the ground will keep it secure and stable so it won’t be that high once embedded.
.
Lastly, if the area is open and you can run the units via the included power supply, cats for sure do not like the sound these release and will definitely avoid the area for good. So you’d get around the clock prevention opposed to using the motion detector/battery configuration which will only go off when they get close. The motion detector setting will require them to “learn” to stay away whereas the always on ultrasonic option will most likely keep them away for good, pretty much right away.

Excellent Product! Summer of 2021 in western Oregon, our neighborhood had a mass invasion of skunks during record breaking heat for the Willamette Valley. They dug under my buildings and attempted to furnish their findings. I immediately contacted Bugspray for assistance as always used their products before. Even during lockdown the attendants advised me how to rid them from my property. I placed seven of the pest repellers in my crawl space and another three outside on my property. A year has now passed and only one of the repellers has failed which was replaced. They are extremely adjustable for any situation and also I’ve had no mice or rats under my buildings since installation. Occasionally I see a skunk cross my ! back property but they move right along hearing and seeing the repeller. I’ve been able to dial down the sound and use the remote when outside. It took me several months and contact with staff to be effective but I’ve had success. Be patient and study the website carefully!

It’s kind of amazing how well they work with the iguanas! As soon as it stopped working we had them back in trees again pooping on our cars. We just moved and I only needed one at old house but now we have them in front and backyard. I had one out back at the old house and we never had iguanas again until one day it got unplugged and suddenly there were 7 of them. Once I had it plugged in again, they all left and didn’t come back. It’s the only thing that’s ever worked!

I was thinking to order your device to rid my chimney flue of swallows.
My chimney has an endcap but no screening.
The chimney is 100 yrs old and I’m reluctant to disturb it, including building a fire in it.
These birds have probably nested here for decades.

Dean,
If you have access from below and can set the unit under the flue to send the signal “up”, it would certainly work. Conversely, trying to set it up top on the hole pointing down? That would work too but would involve a trickier install. A good handyman or roofer should be willing to do the install at a decent price. To be clear, its not a question of whether or not the unit would get rid of them. It will. The challenge is how do you direct the sound “into” the flue. If you can, you’ll have immediate results. Conversely, if you rely on the sound pointed at the chimney top only from even just 5-10 feet, the signal won’t go “down” the flue (remember, its very directional like a flashlight) and so the swallows may be willing to tolerate passing through some noise just to find their nests below the range or discomfort of the sound. Not sure they could but they might try so be aware the installation would be important.

This Ultra Sound Repeller unit has been the perfect match for combating ALL the varmints that previously damaged my property. Now that the unit has stopped moles, armadillos, voles and barn critters, I was overwhelmed by how much damage was done and it was getting expensive.
After the helpful technicians at Bug Spray.Com helped me with purchase of this unit, I was able to control varmints and get control of my landscape and turf. I purchased addition units and installed them in our garage and barn. Battery operation for remote areas and 115volt where electrical outlets are available.
Big Thanks Bugspray!!
