I have a lot of this type of ant. They are around the well house and 5000 sq/ft or more. Can you tell me what to order for the beginning of a process and long term treatment?
There are many types of leaf cutter ants here in U.S. They can damage your plants quickly and once established in the yard, tough to control. This happens because they can travel great distances and often aren’t nesting on your property. The good news is they can be defeated with the right product.
In this case, the right product uses an active very different from most insecticides. This active won’t kill insects quickly but by design, takes 2-3 days. This feature allows it to be “shared” with other members of the colony so when it kicks in and starts to work, it will effectively kill their whole nest.
This product is not detectable by insects either so they will readily walk over and through the treatment. Again, this is by design and ensures control of many pests like ants, termites and even grubs.
So to start the process, you’ll need ADONIS. Plan on using 2.5 oz mixed with 5 gallons of water for every 5,000 sq/ft of turf. You can spray it over grass, shrubs, flowers, bushes and trees. The treatment is odorless and you should treat as much of your property as you can to ensure complete control.
Use it at least once a year to control all ants, termites and more. Since Adonis will be soaked up by plants systemically, it will control common plant pests like grubs, aphids and whiteflies too.
Use a good HOSE END SPRAYER to apply Adonis. Our sprayer is easy to use. Add 2.5 oz of Adonis to the sprayer and then fill it with water up to the 5 gallon line. Next, hook it up to your garden hose and use the entire amount to treat 5,000 sq/ft of turf and plants.
Now if the ants are in the home, spray baseboards, around windows and basically anywhere you see activity with ALPINE AEROSOL. This is another “non repellent” type spray which won’t work fast. But again, this is by design so don’t expect ants to die when you spray. Instead, they’ll keep moving and living so just leave them be while the effectively bring back the chemical to their nests. Within 2-3 days, the activity will all stop once the active gets to work.
