I have larder bugs in our house. Found one on the couch a few weeks ago and when we opened the couch to find a matchbox car we had 2 larder bugs fall out. My question is how do I safely treat my living room and the rest of my house with a 2yr old son, 2 dogs and a ferret? What would be a safe routine to get it under control and maintain from there?

These videos go over all the safety guidelines required so you can mix, handle, store and treat without posing a hazard to your son or pets. Basically they’ll just need to be away from the areas you’re treating but once these areas dry (which will take 1-2 hours), they can all come back and go about their normal business with no worries.
Next, if you review our article, you’ll learn all the treatment options available for this pest. But based on the info you provided, here’s what I suggest you try.
First you’ll need to do a thorough vacuuming of any room you want to treat. This will include all furniture (furniture with fabric that is). Be sure to remove cushions and vacuum under them as well as under any couches, chairs, etc.
Next, spray with either DEFENSE or ECO WP. The Defense is a concentrate that will last up to 3 months per treatment and is the “stronger” of the two; the ECO uses food grade actives so its the “safest” option. But it will only last 30-45 days so expect to use more of it throughout the treatment program.

Add some NYLAR to the tank mix no matter which of the above you choose to spray. Nylar is a growth regulator and will basically work on eggs. By stopping the eggs, you’ll be stopping the infestation.

Apply 1 gallon of mixed material for every 800 sq/ft and be sure to treat all carpeting, area rugs, furniture, etc. Basically anything with fabric.
Lastly, treat monthly for the first 3 months and then after that, once a quarter to insure they don’t return.
