I have been using maxxthor around my house and it works great. but every now and then I find bugs coming up around my driveway and patio where there are some cracks and gaps. I used it for millipedes last year, right at the far edge where there was piles of them after a rain. They were in that outer where the drive meets the grass. that seemed to work though I had thousands dead after I sprayed and had to vacuum them up since they smelled bad. Now i see red mites and sprayed them good so they were gone in less than an hour. but then they came back in two days like I hadn’t sprayed at all? Am I doing something wrong like why are they still here?? ARe they imune to the treatment?
So first, many insects love living under cement. The short list includes SPRINGTAILS, CENTIPEDES, MILLIPEDES, CLOVER MITES and ANTS. To eliminate the issue, you may need to treat underneath as we explain in our CEMENT SLAB TREATMENTS.
But for now, plan on treating when they come back. With something like Clover Mites, this could be every 2-3 days for 1-2 weeks. Most of our customers report this gets rid of them and in the process, prevents them from spreading so they’re effectively limited to just the space under the cement.
Also it’s important to understand that the surface of cement is porous. This means the treatment will be absorbed so there won’t be any lasting residual on top to impact the ones you see. Again, the only work around here is to retreat to kill the ones you see to prevent them from spreading.
In general, drive ways, patio’s, stoops and any cement or tiled walkway can become a haven for insects. Plan on saturating any and all cracks you can find as well as the perimeter edges where it meets dirt, grass or mulch. This should help keep them contained.
And if the problem keeps coming back for a month or more, consider drilling and treating with our SUB SLAB INJECTOR to end the issue for good.
