I am getting bit by something I think are invisible. I assume they are no see ums. Please make a recommendation for a beach front apt 1,100 square feet. I have a bad infestation and a lot of bites on our bodies . I have a lot of indoor plants.
If you review our NOSEEUM article, you’ll learn there are various options for controlling flying pests that bite. Many of these options are for outside but there two methods used inside which work well and provide immediate relief. These treatments are commonly needed for homes and apartments which are located close to water (like beachfront property) or for homes which have a lot of plants. And since you say you have a lot of indoor plants and you’re located on a beachfront property, it would come as no surprise that in fact you have a mosquito and/or noseeum problem.
So the first option is to apply FLYING INSECT KILLER once or twice a day throughout the apartment as needed. This product uses synthetic pyrethrin as its active ingredient and though it will kill any adult insects present, it will break down after a few hours. For this reason its safe to use it as needed. But you must use the product “manually” meaning you will have to move from room to room when treating and you should keep treated rooms vacant for at least 4 hours. Treating is easy since it only takes a few seconds of spray per room to get enough applied.
The second option would be to install small AEROSOL MACHINES in your apartment. Basically these should be set in any room with a problem. These machines are quite small and when loaded with METERED INSECTICIDE, they can be programmed to go off once an hour. And when they go off, they’ll be releasing a one second blast of pyrethrin (the same active in the PT-565) which will work quickly on any flying pest. But because you will have these machines set to go off automatically, this option will be automated meaning the machine will be doing the treatment for you all the time. Cans for the machine typically last 30-45 days and the machine runs on batteries which you’ll need to replace every 6-12 months.
Overall the aerosol machine option is a lot easier to deploy since they require no work once configured and turned on. And since most homes need just 2-3 machines, you’ll find this solution easy to install and maintain.
Conversely the PT-565 will cost less initially but it does require you to do work every day by having to walk around applying it and in the long run, it will prove to be more costly since you will use a lot more chemical when manually treating compared to using the machines.
