WE JUST NOTICED A TINY HOLE IN THE TOP OF OUR SOFA WITH A ROUND PATTERN OF TAN TINY EGGS OR SOFA DEBRI. WE ARE NOT SURE. WE CLEANED AWAY THE TAN DEBRI AND THE NEXT DAY THERE WAS MORE. ANY IDEAS WHAT TYPE OF PEST DOES THIS?
Regardless, I'd start with a simple fix. We've got two organic options that will work on the young of all these pests and since it seems like they're targeting one location on the sofa, it's most likely a carpet beetle or clothing moth larvae which are very easy to control when you get them early on before they get distributed throughout the flat.
The two treatments come in aerosol or liquid sprays. The aerosol is convenient to use and can be applied directly over the entire sofa. ECO KO is a federally exempt product because it's made with actives the government has deemed safe enough to be used around people and pets without further testing. Using this option, you'll want to first remove the cushions so you can get under them and then treat over the top of all exposed areas too. The larvae of these two species are quite small and can many times live undetected so a thorough spraying is required to get them all.
The liquid option is another exempt product that was originally created for bed bugs and roaches. It too will work on these other pests and is known as BED BUG RID. It would be applied the same way and would kill all stages on contact. If the infestation is limited to this location, your spraying should solve the problem.
Now if you treat with either and start noticing more problem areas popping up around the home, you'll need to do a more thorough treatment which is covered in our articles for these pests.
