A little goes a long way… so use as needed. There is little reason to use anything other than 100% deet. You can control dosage by using a smaller amount rather than a lower concentration. Lower concentrations have more alcohol, which increases absorption and causes more skin irritation.

RATE OF APPLICATION: Generally every 5-7 hours or as needed. The mist applicator allows for uniform and proper treatment and you only need a squirt or two per leg and arm.

Noseeums are attacking the skin around my eyes. I am using a deet product to no avail. Can I use this product around my eyes?

We have many customers wiping this material onto sensitive areas like their face so yes, it can be used here. Just don’t spray it on as this would probably get some in your eyes which would be uncomfortable.
On a side note, have you started treating your home and property as explained in our Noseeum article? These treatments can reduce and eventually eliminate noseeum infestations which would in turn mean less available to bite you. Works very well. Only downside it’s a pump spray. Sure would be nice if it was in a pressurized can. Other than that it works very well; would purchase again.

Can this be used on dogs? If not, what is a good repellent for deer flies, for human & dog?

The 100% Maxi-Deet listed above will do the job and definitely the way to go for any person wanting to keep this pest away.
And though you could use it on dogs, its not cost effective. Basically their fur will cause you to use a lot of deet making the treatment cost prohibitive. But Perm 10 can be mixed at the rate of 2 oz per gallon of water and safely used on dogs and other animals for all kinds of biting flies, mosquitoes, gnats and more. And its safe enough to use as often as is needed. Use a spray bottle to apply it on them or a sponge/rag. Its odorless and treatments will usually work 4-8 hours.

Need a larger size. Pump is a little hard to use on some areas. Product is working very well to protect from black flies.
