I have a metal bunk house at my ranch that seems to get a honey bee infestation each spring/summer. What can I do to stop this? Thanks.
If you review our HONEY BEE article, you’ll learn about all the options we offer. No doubt the best treatments for long term prevention to stop them from using your bunk house would be a combination of DRIONE DUST and CYPERMETHRIN.
Basically you’ll want to dust with Drione into every crack and crevice you can find. Do this on all sides of the home focusing on the areas they’ve been using. This will usually be around window frames, rain gutters, roof lines, doors, etc. Basically any crack or void that’s accessible should be puffed with Drione using a HAND DUSTER or one of our long reaching dusters such as the DUST-R or DUSTICK.

The great thing about Drione is that it will remain active for at least a year so if you do a thorough job now, you won’t have to worry about any bee or wasp using the home until next year. And if you renew the treatment every spring, you should be fine for another whole year.
Now if you still find any swarming and landing on flat, open areas, use the Cypermethrin to keep them away. This active won’t last as long as the Drione but bees don’t like it and will avoid treated surfaces for a month or two after you spray. For this reason it’s a good followup to the dusting – especially in busy times of the year like the spring and fall.
