I have been recently overrun by beetlebugs. I think they can fly. I live in the country. I have thousands of them on my porch and I woke up to hundreds of them in my house. Since I put a new porch light in they seem to be coming out the wood work. What can I do to get rid of them? There seems to be adults and millions of little ones over running my porch and soon my home. I could really use some advise about this. Maybe some products I can use. They seem to be attracted to my porch light. Please email me back asap. Thank you so much for your time.

This is an easy one. Get some CYPERMETHRIN and mix it up 1 oz per gallon of water. Spray the exterior of the home including the homes siding and any other surface they’re using. This will immediately kill them and since its highly repellent to insects, keep them off anything you spray. Use a good pump sprayer to do the application and make sure you apply at least 1 gallon per 500 sq/ft of surface area.

Cypermethrin: http://www.bugspraycart.com/insecticide/liquid/viper-cypermethrin

Solo 454 Sprayer: http://www.bugspraycart.com/equipment/sprayers/solo-1-gallon-sprayer

For inside the home, spray with PHANTOM. This is an odorless aerosol and it will control them for 2-3 weeks. Use the included crack and crevice straw to treat behind molding and baseboards.

Phantom Aerosol: http://www.bugspraycart.com/insecticide/aerosol/pt-phantom-17-5oz

Retreat once a month to make sure they don’t come back.

I have a small garden pond with gold fish and grandchildren and no interest in the snake that has taken up residence. What to do???

If you review our snake control article, you’ll learn the best way to deal with this is to get one of our live snake traps and set it along the shore of the pond where you’ve seen the snake active. Make the set with half of the trap in the water and half out. Add snake lure so they’ll quickly find your offering. These live traps are easy to use and highly effective. In fact we have a video demonstrating the kind of results you can have using our traps provided by customers who used them successfully.

Had sea otters under beach house in unfinished basement. Got them out but smell is awful, especially with warm weather. What product will work best to eliminate smell?

Go with NNZ. It will neutralize the odor immediately and you’ll see instant improvement. Apply 1 gallon of mixed product (8 oz per gallon of water) per 500 sq/ft of surface area. Be sure to spray the floor, walls and ceiling since the odor could be on any part of these areas.

You can also apply the NNz using one of our foggers like the FM5330 or BG2300. These will make the job very easy and worth the investment if time is an issue.

I believe I have voles in my house. They are too small to be mice. They are very active and seem to avoid the mouse traps I have out. What do you suggest I use to get rid of the voles in my house?

If you review our VOLE CONTROL article, you’ll see we list a live trap which is a great option. They’re small, easy to set and can be baited with a lot of food so any small animal in your home won’t be able to ignore the offering. And because they catch target animals alive, there is little to no chance of any getting trap wary. They also feature a back door flap making them easy to bait, clean and maintain.

LT3310:  http://www.bugspraycart.com/traps/cage/live-trap-3-x-3-x-10

Ideally you should bait the trap with anything you find them eating in the home. Common food they like include pet food, bird seed or something in your pantry. If you know anything they’ve fed upon during the time they’ve been inside, use it in the trap. But if you don’t know what they like, get some of our PECAN PASTE and use 1/2 of a teaspoon placed behind the trip pan along with some bird seed.

Thought this might be of interest. I caught this one in the last 24 hours in Columbus GA. I suspect it is a Southern Black Racer and not a Coachwhip. Yes there is another critter that crawled into the trap in the photo. I am using the SNAKE LURE purchased last year. It has taken over 3 weeks to catch a snake. Just this weekend we pulled a baby racer out of the pool and it looked just like in your SNAKE BOOK. A guest noticed what I think was another racer near the pool some 50 yards from the trap. I guess they are getting active again. I let him go. I am trying to catch the bad boys to rid them from my pool area and to proof our search dogs off of them.

I live in New York and want to repel, NOT KILL, leaf cutter bees. Do you have a product you can ship to NY and that won’t kill the bees?

We have two options. For small jobs, we have a “ready to use” product which can be safely applied to any plant, structure, etc. This material will chase away all insects. It comes in quarts and gallons and a quart will treat up to 125 sq/ft. So if you have a small area or single plant to treat, the quart will be enough for a few applications. Retreat once a month; more frequently if they return sooner.

Pest Rid Spray: http://www.bugspraycart.com/exempt/liquid/pest-rid-exempt-liquid-repellent

Now if you have a lot of area to treat, go with NBS. Mix it 3 oz to a gallon of water and each gallon can be used to treat up to 800 sq/ft of area. Like Pest Rid, NBS can be safely sprayed on plants and structures.

NBS Repellent: http://www.bugspraycart.com/exempt/additive/nbs-paint-additive-16-oz

Both products are made with essential oils and show repellency action to any insect though neither will injure or kill them.

More info on leaf cutter bees and all the products we offer for them can be found here:

If you all lived closer, I’d give everyone there a great big kiss (On the cheek of course!!!)… On May 11, 2015, I phoned in my request. You folks suggested TENGARD SFR 160oz (I bought) EXCITER 16 oz (I bought) and NYLAR IGR (I bought). Used a thermal sprayer… I’ve taken back the outdoors..:>) Even my dog thanks you..(She’d give you a big slobbery kiss too!!!)…No more knots on her head from mosquito bites when she goes outside. She can roll in the grass…no more Chiggers.. I just can’t say enough good about U-Spray..products–service and fast shipping. Regards, Dallas Baker Seward, Nebraska.

Hi there, We have a carpet beetle infestation in our attic. I’ve been working with a pest control company to spray up there and it has been getting better but there is an area of the attic over our bedroom they can’t access due to the way the house is built. The beetles are coming out of the recessed lighting in the ceiling. I want to prevent them from coming into our living areas and getting into everything (like they did last summer) — what product do you recommend to treat in/around electrical areas/recessed lighting?

Go with DRIONE DUST. Its highly repellent to insects and they won’t walk or crawl through it. By puffing it into can void, crack, gap or crevice using a HAND DUSTER, you’ll stop them from entering.

Drione:  http://www.bugspraycart.com/insecticide/dust/drione-dust

Centro 14 oz: http://www.bugspraycart.com/equipment/dusters/centrobulb-14-oz-w12-ext

As you probably realize, getting the attic dusted completely with Drione would be the best overall solution because you’d eliminate the source. Using a DUSTIN MIZER or ELECTRIC DUSTER would make short work of it. And I know it may be difficult to gain access to the void but in the long run, it would be well worth it.

Hi, I have a nest in the brick of my planter. I am unable to get to the nest as they have crawled though the brickwork. I have seen them though cutting parts of my rose bushes and taking it in through the cracks. What do you believe is the best course of action?

If you read our MUD DAUBER CONTROL article, you’ll see we list two aerosols. One is for direct treating nests when you can see them. The other, known as PHANTOM AEROSOL, would be best suited for your problem.

Phantom is undetectable by insects so they’ll readily move over treated surfaces and in doing so, pick up a lethal dose. So for your situation, all you have to do is spray any crack, crevice or gap you see them using. Do this every 3-4 days and within a week, the problem should be gone.

Something has been eating our wiring harnesses in both cars. We have never had problems like this before, even tho’ we have lived out in the country for 30+ years. Someone saw a porcupine when hunting….could that be the culprit? We have the usual skunks, racoons, groundhogs, squirrels, etc. no problems until now.

There are many animals that will routinely chew on auto wiring. The short list includes roof rats, chipmunks, mice and shrews.

Porcupines have been known to chew on cars too but in the cases we know about, its been the tires they target.

Rats, chipmunks and mice seem to chew on most any wire or hose commonly used in cars. We’re not sure if its the rubber, the fluid inside the hoses, the insulation inside the wires or just the need to grind their teeth leading to the behavior. Regardless, its easy to stop.

The first approach is to spray the wiring with PEST RID spray. It uses food grade actives animals don’t like and they’ll stay away from where its been applied. Treat once a month to keep the treatment fresh.

Pest Rid Spray: http://www.bugspraycart.com/exempt/liquid/pest-rid-exempt-liquid-repellent

For a more permanent solution, install 1-2 USD YARD GARDS. For two cars you’ll need two units. Set them at ground level about 10-15 feet away from the front or back end of the car. Point them directly at the cars so their sound can transmit underneath the vehicles. Keep them on 24/7 by using the included AC adaptor. This will keep any animal away as long as the units are powered on and running. Since it will only cost $.25-.50 a month to run and they’re easy to install, this is a relatively quick and effective fix.

Yard Guard: http://www.bugspraycart.com/repellents/sound/usd-acbatt-yard-gard-49

Lastly, setting up some live traps baited with PECAN SURPRISE will catch any of the small animals that might be chewing and once caught, you can destroy or relocate them far away. Use our LT5518RD for squirrels; the LT3310 for mice or chipmunks.
